It is a nice hotel, new and clean! the area where is located is near a Rue Italie, a street where there are lot og turkish people, and it is not so clean, but they are quiet. the room was fine, clean and also the bathroom was very clean!!

The courtyard garden was excellent. Disabled facilities were fine but walk-in wet room without handrails did pose some problems for my 95 year old father!

the bed was quite little and uncomfortable. As we stayed during a saturday night, people were going out and in and we heard some noise. The location of the hotel is very convenient (close to the station, bus stop from airport, close to restaurants) and the personal very nice.

Overall I was quite happy with the accommodation provided since I was given a room overlooking the street as requested. This was marred by the badly flaking paint on the outside of the attractive French doors that opened onto this view - and the stained appearance of the upholstered bed head.

Our room was small, shabby. and did not feel clean. We were very disappointed. Also breakfast was extra.

Very easy access (after you ask directions) from the train station. A bit (but not too long) of a walk to beach and shopping. Quite adequate.

The hostess at the reception was charming but not too many personnel for service. The breakfast not really inspiring. Rooms very nice and bathroom very spacious.

Very knowledgable staff and most helpful with maps and directions to main tourist attractions in Nice. Room was clean and sufficiently spacious. I will use this establishment again. Good restaurant is the Lao Viet for Asian cuisine about 10mins walk. The night market in the medieval city is a must see.

This was our first time traveled in Nice, with a little boy too. The hotel was very nice. We like the room. It was a double bed room, not so big but acceptable. Even the window was facing the street, it was quiet at night. The location was very good, especially for those who had heavy luggages, like us. We walked to the hotel from the train station, settled down our luggages, then we walked to the sea shore. The room was very tidy and clean. And the staff were friendly. The most important thing was they could speak English. Maybe the only thing that we felt a little bit uncomfortable was the toilet, which was separted from the bathroom, was very small, you could not even close the door when you were in. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel. There were many choices nearby. The garden of the hotel was nice and we took pictures there.

Everything about the hotel met our expectations. Location near the train station is very good; within reasonable walking distance to many of Nice's attractions.

It's very important if the hotel near the public transport is, especially when a person has a heavy baggage. In this meaning this hotel lies in an ideal location and further great is silent and convenient for sightseeing, too! I find the room and the breakfast is standard as 3 points level, good enough.Staffs, friendly too.Merci!

Hotel is in a great location if coming by train. It is not located that close to restaurants and shopping although it is only a 15 minute walk to them. Hotel has lift which is great. Rooms are tidy and clean although bathroom and especially shower is small. Certainly recommend as value for money. Breakfast was "adequate". Nice garden area courtyard. Double glazing windows protect noise levels. Staff helpful and laundromat handy

very nice and clean, a bit far from the beach but very close to the train station, it was far to find if you in a car, as the street is a one way street.

Hotel Excelsior is well presented and their service is efficient. We had booked to stay for a night either end of a holiday in Corsica. Our first night was fine ... we were happy ... good location, clean and friendly. We were very disappointed on our return when we were almost casually advised that we needed to de-camp to an alternative hotel due to a 'technical problem'. There was no effort to explain further and no acknowledemnet that this might represent any kind of an inconvenience for us (having walked all the way from the port). We felt very let down and frustrated at the way this was handled.

The hotel was very hot during my stay, and with the elevator out of operation, staying on the top floor wasn't much fun. Had to wait a long time before any staff arrived in the reception the two times I tried to make contact with anyone there. No wake-up call came at the time it was ordered, so I of course missed the breakfast I had payed for in advance (when checking in). All in all one of my worst hotel experiences during the last ten years or so.

This was a great hotel. Rick Steves called it a "diamond in the rough" - very true! Very helpful staff, nice rooms, decent breakfast. And, so convenient to the train station. We would definitely stay here again if we were to go back to Nice.

A lovely hotel for price and location ..excellent breakfast for a small extra charge. Close to shops and nice restaurants but road works made walking the streets a little inconvenient. Would definately stay here again and can recommend in the price range.

I liked the hotel very much as it was in a central location and very convenient to start a sightseeing tour. It was fine that there is a main bus stop just round the corner, Nr.4, that takes you to the most important sights. The room was spacious and clean, the service good and friendly. The surroundings at the moment is not very good as there is construction work in front of the hotel starting shortly after 7.00 h in the morning. This is because they build a new entrance to the underground railway station. Therefore it was loud during the day, especially if you have a room with a view over the construction site as I had. This is of course temporary, but it will take a lot more months.. Very good is that you have an entrance to the station with a long tunnel leading to (only) platform C. So you can walk to your trains. All in all it is a hotel I would go to again.

We found the hotel to provide adequate facilities for our holiday in Nice. Tea making facilities /bar facilities would have been useful.Perhaps we would have preferred to be a little nearer to the Promenade with nearer access to restaurants but the walking was good exercise. Breakfast in the hotel was perfectly adequate. Staff generally helpful.

I have, in the past, had some bad experiences when booking accommodation online but on this occasion managed to fall on my feet! I was very pleased with the standard of the Excelsior, the location and the facilities. The room we stayed in, which overlooked the pretty courtyard garden, was large for the price and was more than adequate for our 6 night stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the train station, allowing easy access to the other towns along the cote d'azur, but remains a quiet location due to its position along a side street. The busy shopping and restaurent areas along Rue de Jean Medecin are in easy walking distance, with the old town being a little further but definately worth the extra 10 minute walk. The beach can be reached by walking straight down a couple of roads, and takes about 10 minutes. We stayed in the hotel for 6 nights and enjoyed a fantastic holiday, even though the weather was rainy! With such a convenient location, just far enough from the busy centre but close enough to enjoy the attractions of Nice (of which there are many to offer in the rain!)I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Loved the spaciousness of the room as well as the decor. The rooms appeared fresh and recently decorated. The breakfast room was lovely as well. Could have enjoyed our stay more if Satellite TV had been working. No English stations throughout our stay. We were quite busy, though, so the TV was not that important.

an okay place to spend a quick night just off the train in Nice. The rooms are very small and a little funky, but ultimately it worked out fine. The front desk was not overly helpful, but they were okay. The area is sleazy, and in retrospect would've booked something in a nicer area for a few bucks more, although it really is close to the train.
