Hôtel de Verdun - Nice

For a 2 star this was a good base. The bedding was particularly clean and changed regularly and the proprietor was very helpful.

pros:-excellent stuff, -great location. cons: -the toilet was not in a seperate room, and so there was a litle problem with privacy. -the blanket was stainy. -the room was smelling sigarette.

According to our expectations

Stayed in the superior double room for 5 nights. It was very spacious and clean, although a touch gloomy(to be fair it was quite stormy during our stay). The windows kept out the street noise really well, however, the walls were quite thin so you could hear other guests if they were a little loud. The bathroom had been updated really nicely.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Nice. The manager was very friendly, helpful and always happy. It was a pleasure to stay there.

Impressed with hotel. Staff are welcoming and helpful. The room is modern -apart from the slightly dated looking brown bedspreads. Good location.

Great location downtown, a short walk to Old Town, near many, many buses and trams to train station, Cimiez, Moanco, airport, etc. The public areas have suffered a bit since the photos were taken, but had clean slipcovers and a homey feel. The staff members were very friendly and helpful (tea on arrival, access to a computer, help with phone calls, walking maps). Well-insulated windows deaden nearly all the street sounds. I would definitely stay there. Not handicap accessible; the elevator begins on the second (European, first) floor and is tiny.

We could not be more satisfied. The rooms were small but more than adequate. Bathrooms very nice. The location was perfect ,just a few blocks from the old city and the beach. The best part however was the staff . They were fantastic!! From the answering every question to the ice we felt like family. We stayed 2 extra days because we liked it and Nice so much. Acmad(sp?) was the best and we thank him so much.Hope to return sometime in the future.

The hotel is old and a little worn down, but the rooms and bathrooms are clean. The staff is very friendly and helpfull, excellent service. The breakfast is good. The windows keep the noice from the street out. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Position of the hotel is perfect, staff is excellent and very helpful, but some refurbishment is absolutely needed. My room was extremely small - it is definitely for single person.

I attended Nice for a conference at the Acropolis. The hotel is conveniently located near a tramway stop. This meant I was able to take the tramway for a 5 min trip to the Acropolis. This was especially convenient when jetlagged and still not familiar with the surroundings. Otherwise, it was a lovely 15 to min walk. Once used to the neighbourhood I realised that the hotel is near to the Old city. The breakfast provided, in the lovely dining room, was well balanced and worth the price. The bathroom in my room was newly renovated and impecably clean. Above all though, was the welcoming nature of the staff. Always, ready to help and giving advice about Nice even before I knew I needed it.

The staff at the Hotel were great. They were helpful with arrival/departure details and were extremely friendly. Also, there was free internet and free Wifi, a breakfast room, and an elevator, which were all nice amenities. The room was surprisingly nice... we didn't expect too much for the price, but the room was just renovated. The bathroom was very clean, too. We would definitely recommend this hotel to other people.

Centrally situated hotel with cosy, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast menu and international guests of all ages. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

We could not tell from the photographs or description that the bathroom was located inside the master suite; it was a bit inconvenient for the guest who slept on the pullout bed to have to come into the bedroom to use the bathroom. I suggest making that clearer on the website.

The staff was SO nice, friendly, and helpful. Great location, and a wonderful place to stay.
