My mistake in booking a hotel that does not provide free breakfast, which I expect for 165 Euros a night. Thus the shock of receiving a bill for over 220 Euros, which soured the experience. The bathroom was a little grimey and could use an overhaul. The beds were fine, air-conditioning too which is a must given the main street overview our room had, which required closing the windows. The breakfast food was admittedly good, so splurging 13 Euros extra for a solid meal (fresh eggs to boil, cut and whole fruit, salami, ham & cheese, good bread rolls etc) won't go astray. Still, I'm left with the experience that Brice is representative of Nice - overpriced and over-hyped.

A well located hotel close to the promenade, buses, railway station and town centre. Lovely garden to sit and have a drink before going out. Reception and staff were helpful. Rooms quite basic but clean, and bathroom were good quality. Air conditioning worked well. Some street noise but as you might expect in a city. All in all good value for money and a pleasant stay.

I was very upset after I had unpacked and asked to see the fitness room, what I thought would have gym equipment in. It was just a plain room with a bed and a bar with 2 weights. I asked where the gym equipment is and they said there was none. I was told to do my own exercises in that room!!! Very silly! It was a real scam!!! When I asked for a discount because of this, I was not allowed one. I specially chose this hotel, looking away on there not being a pool, at least hoping to exercise properly otherwise. This was a real disappointment!!! The bins were not emptied every day. The cupboard was old and wouldn't close properly. The furniture polish was all rubbed off it. The bedding smelled like it had been used before too. Not very nice! The toilet had no leg room in front!!!

Staff were very helpful and friendly (one receptionist very kindly offered our son a drink of water when he had hiccups whilst standing in the foyer!)This same lady also gave us loads of useful info about transport locally and was generally very cheery. However when we came to settle the bill there had been a mix up about the breakfast rate we had arranged and also 2 drinks appeared on the bill which could not possibly have been ordered by ourselves as we were in Monaco at that time! The chap was very apologetic but it did take a little explaining and sorting out. In the first quad room we were given the shutters weren't working(were fixed shut on one window) and a staff member did immediately come up to try to fix them but when he couldn't we were given another quad room. Quad rooms were spacious enough (1 double and twin beds) Bathroom was clean with plenty towels. Breakfast was good. The garden was great(for breakfast or having an evening drink or just to sit in ) and was the main reason we chose this hotel. Air conditioning was excellent. Our third and last night there was a big party of youngsters staying in the hotel and we feared a loud, difficult night but we were pleasantly surprised and had no disturbances!

I found the hotel very relaxing and comfortable. It has lovely sorroundings and garden in which to relax. The breakfast facilities were also excellent with a lovely area in the shade in which to sit outside. I certainly recommend the hotel.

We’ve got a double superior with street view , it was large , sunny , but very noisy because of the street. One day they “forget” to clean the room and we had to take care about our garbage. Reception&bar stuff was friendly.Breakfast a little bit poor and expensive but if you use to eat a lot better do it in the hotel. Nice garden , where in the morning you may breakfast or in the evening you can drink a cold beer . Finally , it was not to bad , I recommend it , I think in Nice is difficult to find a better 3 Stars nearby Promenade.

Bathroom was a potential minefield. A shower without drainage, perched above a toilet that you needed to step over and I guess I'm getting a bit old to be scrambling over toilets to have a lukewarm shower. Then youhad to perch on aledge within the shower cubicle to stay out of the rising water. But the bathroom was clean. Only one blanket provided and inadequate heating - though they did bring a second blanket on request. But why make you request it. Who is going to steal a scabby old blanket? The mattress needs to be replaced. Overall, for 49 euros it was probably Ok - it is definitely budget but i think it had signage for a 3 star rating. Not sure how it managed that.

Hotel is located short walk to sea front, 4-5 minutes. Location is good. Also close to main shopping area & tram line. The hotel is in need of modernisation, my room was poorly furnished. The bathroom was cramped I had to climb over the toilet to get to the shower & there was a nastly smell from the plumbing. My room was located at the rear of the building & was noisy several nights. I must compliment the reception staff who were always helpful & polite. I felt the price was poor value for the facilities provided.

The Hotel Brice was of a very good standard. The staff were all very friendly and helpfull. My wife had stayed there in June with friends, hence why we stayed there in August. The breakfast was excellent value at 13e, and eating in the garden area very pleasant. The gardens were well looked after, and there was adequate seating. Because of the heat at night we had to sleep with the windows open, unfortunately the road noise was very loud epsecially the bin men early in the morning. One small critism on the decor, the corridors could maybe do with painting to freshen them up. With a free safe in the room, and the free use of beach towels I would say this hotel is excellent value for money.

I found Brice Hotel to be a comfortable place to stay. I stayed alone in a room with ample space & a bright, cheery quilt on the bed. One strange characteristic of the bathroom though, was the 1/2 door covering the shower. What is with this? Causing a minor flood everytime I took a shower was almost unavoidable! The doors are a little thin & were such that the other guests would slam their doors shut (locks automatically), which was annoying throughout the night. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was perfect, dinner delicious. Front desk staff gets a mix of reviews b/c some people were very friendly & helpful. Others, further in the back, ignored me at the desk until I was standing there for a while or had to say "excusez-moi", even after they'd already looked up at me & continued with what they were doing. It's location is ideally a few blocks from the beach & Promenade des Anglais, and walking distance to Vieux Nice. I'd stay at the Brice again.

Have been to Nice several times before and stayed in higher and equivelant priced accommodation. The hotel Brice gave more than value for money. the reception staff were both friendly and very helpful and the breakfast I would recommend to anyone. The hotel was very well positioned for the town or the sea front. My friends and I had no complaints.

OLD hotel !!! since Napoleon was alive. but the worse thing about it was an indian guy at reception. We needed to upgrade our room but he was useless. had to wait for another person to appear. Also, before arriving to this place they have blocked some money on my card. normally this does not happen on other venere hotels. Avoid this place.

Hotel Brice was a nice place and we would certainly use it again if we are in Nice. Room was very clean and tidy, and although located on a fairly busy road, if the windows were closed and the shutters dropped it was relatively quiet. Breakfast was good value for money and service excellent. Location is quite good and only a 10-minute walk to the town centre (east) and railway station (north). Bus Stop just over the road and only 1 Euro fare to Bus Station; with links to Monaco and Cannes. I'm sure if you stay at the Hotel Brice you wont be disappointed!

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour, l'accueil était exceptionnel, et le personnel charmant. Nous voyagions avec un bb et nous avons bénéficié d'un accueil adapté (lit bb avec 1 vrai matelas, préparation d'un repas). We have stayed here before, enjoyed the convenient location and although the hotel does need renovation overall it was a good experience. This time, our room was not ready on arrival,we ordered drinks and sat in the garden to wait.Ok so far, the drinks never arrived despite prompting after 20 mins. After 45 mins we enquired about our room and were told it was just ready. We were left to find our own way, although as we had been before we knew the layout of the hotel. After 10 minutes the receptionist came into our room.I was in the bathroom and heard the knock, but my husband who was resting on the bed is partially deaf and did not hear the knock. She burst in and said we should be in the room below we had been given the wrong room.So we moved to another on the floor below. The bedroom ceiling had a very stained patch above the air con unit and the bathroom was in dire need of retiling and grouting. It was a bit grotty/manky, and their was no extractor. The sliding wardrobe doors fell off their hinges when first opened and stayed that way until we left.I think it was expensive for the condition of the room. The beds were clean, room spacious and the towels toiletries were ok. I think I will sty somewhere else next time.

We stayed at Hotel Brice for 2 nights. Great location. A lovely garden to sit in the evenings and to eat breakfast. Breakfast at 12euros was good value for money - a buffet style breakfast with plenty of choice. Staff were helpful and polite. Free use of the computer in the lounge was useful. Our room on the 4th floor was spacious with a good size en suite. The lift went only to the 3rd floor which was not a problem for us but maybe for some guests.

The hotel was well situated being two blocks from the Promenade des Anglais and close to quality restaurants. The room was quite spacious with pleasant window views and had a safe and fridge. The rooms are a little dated but the staff seemed to be on top of the maintenance issues. The staff were generally very helpful. The breakfast was excellent. There was limited parking available. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

It was my first time with my family in Nice and Hotel Brice. Very very bad experience. Staff was rude not cooperative. Asked us not to touch anything. Charged more in the end. Lift was out of order. No ironing facility. one spot for internet at reception and that remained always busy. Asked us to keep our room clean. Also window was broken. Only good thing was location. I travelled to the Hotel Brice in April 2008. The welcome is very good and the public areas are nice. The location of this hotel is excellent, only a stones throw from the beach and 10 minutes walk from all going out areas and tourist attractions. The room I had was very tired and noisy. I could hear my neighbours and the street outside until late at night. It was a very small room and the Mini Bar was empty. There was a TV with a reasonable range of channels. Although I didn't expect or need it, the air conditioning system was broken. The bathroom could do with some modernisation and the whole room needed upgrading. On check out I was surprised to be charged an extra 17 EURO / Day for the car park. I had taken it from the hotel description that parking was free (albeit I was surprised to have a private garage) and their was no mention of the charge at check-in. Overall a satisfactory stay at the Hotel Brice but I think you could find better in Nice for the same price. SandyB

Room had not been re-decorated for many years, furniture tawdry and dated, lighting poor, bathroom was newly fitted out, garden looks nice on the web but is small and right next to the road, the taxi that the reception called cost 21 euros for 4 minute ride to the port and was unmetered but we had no time to get a different one. Poor value for the price but that is a problem all over Nice.

A lovely hotel, in a location convenient for the train and access to the beach. Very nice accomodation, reasonably close to beach (couple of blocks) although a bit far from the old city area (15-20 min walk). No view to speak of. Parking is in a secured but poorly-lit garage about 1 block away. Lovely garden area for lounge and restaurant, reasonbly priced 3-course menus available. Reception staff have limited English, but no problem to make yourself understood. Free WiFi is available but you need a France Telecom (Orange) internet account to actually use it. We would stay here again, definitely.

Although the public areas and garden were pleasant our rooms were dark, dingy and cramped with tired and old furniture. The only outlook was a window that opened onto a flat roof overlooking a blank wall - with signs saying don't leave the window open because of crime - not what you want on a balmy August evening when you don't want the air con running. The breakfast was good but for 11 euros not giving it away. Reminded me of one or no star hotels I stayed in 20 odd years ago in France .....

Our stay at the hotel was very good with excellent buffet breakfast. The air conditioning in the room was not very effective We were very dissatisfied with the taxi company booked by the hotel to take us to the port. The driver set off towards the airport rather than the port (the opposite direction!) and only changed direction when challenged. The driver also had no knowledge of the prevailing traffic conditions and a journey thatshould have taken 15 minutes took 45 minutes. All at a rip off price of 18 euros. Beware - do not use 'Le Navette Azureenne'.

Stayed in Nice 5 nights. Staff not as welcoming as at the Windsor, where I last stayed. Room size and public areas better. Location is excellent.

This is a lovely hotel. Public areas are clean and well kept and the garden is lovely for breakfast or a drink in the evening. You can walk within ten mins to the train station or to the old town, or to the promenade. Its quiet at night, and the beds are very comfortable, if a little short if you are over 5' 5!

We had a very nice stay at Brice. The zone was not bad, and the location was ideal being close to both the beach, the promenades and the railway station. The only complaint I could mention is that the sound insulation of the rooms seemed to be next to inexistent. We particularly enjoyed the cute little garden bar.

I was traveling with a good friend. The room was pretty small and a little out dated but we were not in Nice to stay in the room. The location was great; close to the promenade and lots of shopping. There were really nice restraunts nearby ( i strongly reccomend Barracudda and its sister restrarant). Skip the expensive breakfast at the hotel it wasnt too impresive, especially for the price. Be sure to check out the flower market(especially on sundays). Also, Brice has a relationship with a beach club which is great however We tried to go mid-day and its turned out we needed reservations so call ahead. Overall a fine stay.

We just returned from a six-week trip in Europe, spending time in numerous hotels. This was at the bottom of our list. Our room was spacious and charming with two large windows/balconies facing the front, yet the overall experieicne was not good. The beds were pathetic...poor mattresses that were curving up at the bottom, flat used pillows, stained antiquated carpet, miniature TV, thin towels old draperies and questionable bed coverings...very old building...staff was helpful, yet not very nice...free internet was a bonus. Breakfast not included. Had to park many blocks away in garage..typical of Nice. Front of hotel was charming with the trees and garden setting- entire property in need of remodeling..Could be a great hotel. Only reason it has a four star rating is the facilities in general..nothing to do with the amenities of the beds, bath and room decor. That was a big lesson learned about hotel travel in Europe. I would rather have clean sheets and decor in a room beyond anything. Desperately needed a clear map of the location. Hard to find, on your own, with lots of one way streets. Tested my driving skills.

The place was great. Only a couple blocks from the beach and promenade. Nice little garden area in front to sit in and it sets the hotel off the street a little. The common areas were spacious and nice. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were there on a special price so the breakfast was not included. I don't know if that is always the case so inquire. It was a little expensive but very good. It is worth it if you want to eat a big breakfast but not if you only want coffe and a roll. Our triple room was clean and nice. We would definitely stay again.

Our camera got stolen (well we had some much more valuable stuff in the room - but they took the old camera) - they changed locks 1month ago - it obviously didn't help (did they have such problems before? :/)

The accommodations were perfect for a couple. The room and bed were bigger than I expected. We also had a small fridge and a small sitting area in our room which was great since we were on a budget. The hotel is very conveniently located and quiet enough to get a good night's rest.

Rooms are small and old furnished, the breakfast in nothing special, but if you see the prices in Nice it is cheap.
