Hotel Berlioz - Nice

For the price was okay

Close to the SNCF-railwaystation, nice staff, quiet rooms with airco, beds which well sleeping on, modern sanitair. Highly recommended!

Our room was on the ground floor in back. The only window opened onto an air shaft and we didn't want to leave it open for safety reasons so the room was stuffy. An upstairs room would have been better but the hotel was full. Parking is scarce.

The Berlioz is a very small B&B hotel. Our room was quite small and somewhat drab looking although it was clean and tidy with separate shower and toilet facilities. Only 1 small pillow and 1 blanket supplied. The miniature TV on the wall had the sound governed to a just audible level and served only French channels. Air conditioning in the room was supplied via an adjustable air blower on the wall. Toiletries in the bathroom were sparse especially the tiny pieces of soap. The view from the bedroom window looked onto another building - not pretty. Breakfast was offered in an even tinier room in the basement of the hotel at 9 euros per person. The fare was average. The hotel is some 200 yards from the main rail station and also convenient for the service 99 bus to/from the airport (4 euros each way). It is also close to the new tram system (1 euro per journey) which can be used to get to the main shopping and restaurant area near the beach. In all a functional hotel but nothing to write home about.

We were given the room just outside the stairs, so it was very noisy when other guests were walking to and from their rooms. Other rooms may be more quiet. The bathroom was newly renovated and very nice.

Stayed at this hotel for just one night for a stop over, perfect location for train users, surrounding area a bit seedy especially at night, great little hotel all in all, nice rooms and fo the price great value.

Very small hotel room ideal for 1 night stay or transit (which was our case). Safe and quiet neighborhood (as to Nice standards!) Check in was quick and easy. Host gave us plenty of information and advices.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel, nor would I ever stay there again. It is a shame, for the rooms are nice and the price was reasonable. But the owner is so obnoxious. Also, there are many strong-smelling air fresheners in the rooms and the lobby, it is not a pleasant feeling to have those fake smells overwhelming the air. Perhaps they are trying to mask something else that smells bad? There are many other places to stay in Nice, pick somewhere else to stay.

Very friendly staff and hotel as stated on the webiste. Bit disappointed that breakfast wasn't included and was very expensive for what it was and the shower was tiny but rooms very nice and clean. Location ok but very close to the train station which was very useful.

Sehr gepflegte, saubere Unterkunft. Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Zentrale Lage beim Bahnhof, daher nicht sehr ruhig, jedoch erträglich, bei geschlossenem Zimmerfenster sogar problemlos. Geschmackvoll renovierte Liegenschaft. Unser Zimmer war relativ klein, jedoch sehr sauber und mit (ausschaltbarer) Klimaanlage ausgerüstet. Frühstücksraum im Untergeschoss ist wenig gemütlich, Frühstücksbuffet klein aber OK. Umgebung ist wenig einladend (Bahnhof sowie div. Rotlichtetablissements), stellte jedoch kein Problem dar. Parkiermöglichkeiten bietet Hotel selbst keine; Auto muss im Bahnhofsparkhaus (EUR 28.00 24h) abgestellt werden, da auch öffentlicher Parkraum sehr knapp. Insgesamt empfehlenswertes Hotel, das wir wieder wählen würden.

Very clean and modern. Friendly staff and not that far from beach and close to the train station. Hotel surroundings are not good, but all other factors are so perfect. I highly recommend this hotel.

Friendly and helpful staff. Wireless internet available for free was a real bonus. Close to the rail station and not far from the centre or the beach. Good value for money.

The hotel was very comfortable for a one-night stay. The room would have been too small if staying longer. Very convenient for the station (walking distance) and bus to airport. Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, speaking English. Generous breakfast!

No much nice environs (train station) but we do not have no problem there. Staff hotel very kind and ready. We like to return.

The hotel was clean and friendly however it was up the 'seedy' end of town - close to the train station but also close to a few sex shops and places where a few dodgy people looked to be hanging out. However we were never bothered by anybody but the hotel always kept its front door locked (you have a key). We were there only two nights so overall the value was good for the price even though the ground floor room we had at the foot of the stairs, behind the reception and above the kitchen was not very peaceful. The owner strongly preferred but didn't insist on us paying cash. In the end we used our credit card but felt a bit uncomfortable.

I stayed on two separate occasions. Both times the room was clean and the staff friendly. Unfortunately, there are cockroaches evident on both occasions but more so on my second stay so I will probably not choose to stay here again.

We just needed a bed for the night and were happy with our nights sleep. We were directed to a pedestrian area of Nice for a meal which proved to be a highlight as there were live bands playing and a fun atmosphere. The hotel had provided air con (portable) as requested. Just 200m from the station.
