This is more like a friendly bed and breakfast than a hotel. It's not luxurious but it is clean, cosy and welcoming. The hotel owner husband and wife lives on the property and are very friendly. Situated in a nice and quiet suburb, 10 minutes walking distance from the Le Port where major bus routes can be taken. The hotel is 15 minutes away from the closest beach. Old town is also accessible with 25 minutes walk, even the Castle Hill is accessible by walk. 15 minutes also to walk to Coco beach, where one can find the nice cliff path "Sentier Littoral". From there even Mont Boron can be climbed. There is a small shared kitchenette for hotel guests if one would like to go budget and cook using produce from a very nearby supermarket. It's hard to find faults. The only minor point I can say is the water pressure for the shower is not strong.

If you want clean, simple, quiet, cheap and pleasant, this is for you! An excellent little hotel, close to port, old town and handy for bus stop from airport (5 mins easy, flat walk). Breakfast was great and we had ours served on peaceful terrace outside our room. Staff very warm and helpful. Have been in hundreds of hotels around the world and this rates very well! Excellent value for money, will return. Not suitable for those with pushchairs or wheelchairs however.

The hotel is rather poor. "+" there is a kitchen & nice terrace. "-" very dark room - it has no one window-just the glass doors.

We stayed for 3 nights. It was not so easy to find the hotel. The reception was not so friendly than we expected, and sometimes no one is in the hotel. She gave us only 1 key. The room is not so bad, but there is no shampoo, and soap, and the a ventilator is noisy. There is a refrigerator, micro-oven in a mini kitchen. You can have dishes and glasses if you ask the reception. There is a supermarket and bakery near the hotel. And the petit garden was nice.

I stayed in clair hotel with my daughter for 2 nights end of june 2010, very warm welcome, Breakfast served in the garden, fab!. Rooms are spacious - and the one we had on the garden level was very quiet (no traffic noise, just birds). the hotel is well situated for visiting old town of Nice, port to Corsica etc. Suggestions: coffee/tea making facilities in the room would be nice.

We had a lovely stay in april 2010, myself, my mother and my baby son. Luba and Esther really took care of us and made us feel at home. Breakfast in the courtyard was a highlight and all the local tips were invaluable. For families with babies, there is a flight of stairs up to the room but other than that, a wonderful place to stay in Nice. We'll be back.

I was struggling to book any hotel in Nice for the weekend we wanted (Monaco Grand Prix). I had looked at Hotel Clair as it had such a good write up on trip advisor but was unable to book it on other sites. Had the room been smaller it would be tempting to describe it as dated but somehow because it was really spacious it seemed more rustic with a really nice comfortable feel. There was a fridge provided in the room and in the court yard a room with a kettle and microwave. The location was great. 2 mins walk to the bus stop for Monaco and 10 mins walk to the old town. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful and I liked that they didn't inflate their prices for that weekend as other hotels had. Not the most luxurious of hotels but in terms of comfort, facilities, service and location (although maybe not suitable for disabled or really unfit travellers as it's either steps or a bit of a bank) really good value for money.

I would rate this as Hostel more than a hotel.Situation very close to Fire station and what appeared to be the French equivalent of a JobCentre . Very old and battered furniture some with holes in .Shower very basic(hand held spray) but hot enough . Felt slightly uncomfortable with the late night walk back ..feeling shared by other couples.A fair walk from centre and could not use the front door, had to use small back gate .Many steps to negotiate from back gate level to upper road. We were discouraged to take hotel breakfast and encouraged to self cater , although our room 16 had no kitchen..there was a kitchen round corner. Had ants in room which were eventually cleared up , but re appeared. Very quiet at nights, but rooms were very dark as had to close shutters to avoid other guests seeing in ( rooms arranged around courtyard ) There was a trip hazard in our room (16), a low almost invisible floor ridge, which we tripped over many times before placing a chair to mark it . In all , an ideal place for students and backpackers , but not for anyone used to any modicum of luxury. There is no lounge except the courtyard outside . This is a cheap hotel for Nice, and as in all things, you get what you pay for.

The welcome was very friendly and the owners are happy to suggest places to visit and how to get there. The public transport in Nice is good and cheap. We visited and enjoyed Eze, the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, Monaco and Nice itself in the 5 days we spent there. We enjoyed being able to sit outside in the garden and could eat what we wanted (and when we wanted). This is a hotel for those people who just want to do what they wish to do.

The host and hostess who own this hotel could not have been more helpful. We had some special needs---one of our bags had been stolen at the bus depot, so borrowed their alarm clark in order to get up early to get our air flight. Moreover, we had the host phone for our taxi, as the meeting place was not in front of the hotel. As it turned out the taxi couldn't find the place, so phoned the host and he came out in his bathrobe and waited until the taxi arrived. (This was at 6:15 a.m.) Then the worst thing happened when we got to the airport---my husband could not find his passport! Air France stepped in to help us and phoned our host (luckily we had his card from the hotel), so he had to go search our room; he also kindly called the taxi to make sure it wasn't in the taxi.) At the last minute my husband found the passport so all was well! But the host had been unduly interrupted by us; he could not have been nicer to us. We are not young (78 & 81)--- and he helped us carry luggage, etc., even when we didn't need his help. The price on this hotel is "right"; there is a nice courtyard in front for breakfast, (though it was too cold in Nov. to be out there); I think any age of people would like this hotel. Our room also had a nice bunk bed and I could see travelling to this hotel with a family. The host was great about telling us which way to head out to the port, find busses, etc. I think people who are looking for luxury would not choose this place, but the beds were very comfortable, the water was hot, etc. Our host also provided us with wine glasses and an opener, as well as spoons for our grapefruit which I had brought. When we left, he gave us two very special oranges.

The hotel has rooms out back behind the main house/hotel and that is really all we saw of the hotel other than a 5 minute look at the hallway in main hotel. So, we cannot speak to any of the rooms/amenities that might be in the main building. Our room was one of about 6 rooms outback with its own rear entrance/exit.

L'hotel è molto informale e l'ambiente molto familiare. Eccellente la colazione servita in camera. Il giardino chiuso è l'ideale per chi viaggia con piccoli cani (sono gratuiti se piccoli).
