After reading reviews on this site, I was a little apprehensive on arriving at this property. My concerns were quickly dispelled. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the hotel was easy to find from the train station. The hotel was very convenient to the old town and beach. We did have problems with the hot water where it would run cold then hot, making showering interesting. Unfortunately, the staff response was unhelpful. Overall, we were very happy with our stay here.

I've stayed in quite a few low price hotels and this was one of the better ones without doubt. Very welcoming reception staff and convenient location for the station (I was going to the Monte Carlo Masters tennis every day so didn't care about much else!) Also pretty quiet. Room quite basic and decor a little shabby but so what - comfortable and clean I was happy.

Talk about disappointed! I paid this much money for crap? Never again, oh no. You're better off staying at another hotel. The air conditioner does NOT work, and when we mentioned this problem, they checked with the other rooms and it didn't work either, so it was humid and disgusting for days without the A/C. We did not get compensated for this either. The money they wanted for breakfast was laughable! Coffee that tasted like dirty water and toast, bread with little jam. No eggs or ham sausage. But if you want to waste your money, eat here. It was better to eat elsewhere. The people were very rude and made fun if you if you try to speak to them in French. No, I wasn't feeling very welcomes here. Warning: If you arrive ONE MINUTE LATE, they charge your credit card. All in All? Go somewhere else.

Remember to avoid Room 11 by all means! The stinky drain smell kept leaking into our bedroom. It was so stronge that we had to call the front desk to request a change of the room at 2 a.m. However, she said the smell was in other rooms too and she was so used to it and couldn't smell it anymore. Seriously? I think she was lying cuz I threatened not to pay. She promised to leave a note for her next shift, but as we requested to change our room again the next noon, there was no other room available. That woman said we should get up early to ask for a new room. How could we get up early since we couldn't fall asleep until like 4 a.m. because of the smell! Except that, the hotel was fine.

Very good location. The building looks scary and needs rennovation. Inside is not that bad, though. Room: fair. You shouls always remind/ask staff for clean towels otherwise they might forget. There is NO canal in the bath?! I was shocked. Only in the shower, plus a barely useful curtain, which does not stop water to run out and make a slippy lake into the common bath space. Anyway, if you don't intend to stay in the room more than necessary, i.e. to sleep there, it's OK for a 7-days stay.

This is one of the best 2 star hotels I have found. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and always polite. The room was clean, comfortable and, most important of all during a very hot week in June, the air-conditioning worked fine and was very quiet. The location is excellent: just 5 minutes walk from the station, 10 to the town centre and 5 more to the old town and beach. Forget the nonsense about the area near the station not being safe, I saw absolutely no evidence of this. Nice is a wonderful place to visit and an ideal centre from which to visit this wonderful region of France.

After the sightseeing and coming back to the hotel, we are going to have shower, and it didn't work properly. We were said the rooms were full and there's nothing they could do. We spent the night showerless. They offered the breakfast for free of charge. We chose to leave Nice earlier to the next destination where we expect the proper bathroom, and paid in full. I cannot recommend this hotel if you except the proper room, I'm afraid.

This hotel is convenient in that it is close to the station but the area around the station is pretty grim and didn't make me feel overly safe as a single female traveller. The room was clean but old and had water stains on the walls, and on the bathroom ceiling. I'm glad I was only here for 2 days.

The hotel is located near to the train station, so it's easy to get there. It has an elevator and air condition. I spent one night there and had no warm water the day I arrived. Therefore I got the breakfast for free and I had warm water on the next day. A disadvantage are the thin walls, so that you hear your neighbours... All in all I found it a bit expensive.

The location is a block from the train station, which is really nice - about half way between sites and the beach. The room was perfectly sufficient, and the shower worked well. The wireless is in the lobby, so it works for the first floor or two, but not outside of that. The shower towel was the size of a hand towel. Also the staff didn't really know the best way to get to sites, so I recommend you walk to the Tourist Information office at the train station an ask there, as the directions I got were generally wrong. Those were my only complaints. Great value.

Typical budget hotel; slightly shabby and amateurish but then what would you expect with the low price? Staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was clean and had basic amenities. Overall a very nice stay, no problems with the hotel itself, however some of the guests were very noisy in the middle of the night - staff intervention would have been welcome. If you are looking for a somewhere cheap and cheerful to stay, then Amaryllis is at least as good as any of the others. I would gladly stay again if in Nice on my own; however if you are travelling with small children or looking for a romantic getaway, this is probably not the best option.

I really liked Amaryllis. It was quite comfortable to stay in. A basic but nice room, I liked interior colors (so French) and windows. The shower was ok. Good conditioning system. Though my windows faced the noisy street it was pleasant to watch the life in the town. When you close the windows the room looks to be soundproof. The staff was friendly and helpful. They helped me with facilities and information and tips as to the best plage (beach). The hotel location is more or less good. It is close to the central train station, main streets and beaches. It took me about 20 min to get the beach. I felt quite at home in this hotel. It is small but cosy.

Positives? It was close to the train station and right across the street from a police sub-station. It was also not far from the main street and public transportation. Staff was friendly and helpful. Negatives? The room itself was very run-down. Signs posted forbidding food in the rooms made me wonder if the 'night visitors' would be joining me in bed.(They didn't.) Hallway lighting was minimal. I would not recommend this hotel, unless you are truly looking for the economy path and will not be spending much time in your room.

The hotel is placed near one of the main streets in the city, about 20 minutes walk from the beach. The hotel itself isn't the newest, what You can feel in the room. Most of the stuff doesn't speak english. The price was a couple of Euros bigger, than it was shown during the booking process. It's impossible to find a parking slot nearby hotel, You have to leave Your car in a parking place about 5 minutes walk from the hotel, which will cost You about 15 Euros per day. No free internet access, no fridge or safe in the room. The bathroom is separated from the room by rolling door that doesn't even close 100 percently, which I wouldn't expect from a room for 68 Euros. I would recommend You to check other hotels before You book this one.

Overall, this was more or less what I expected. I was just looking for a cheap one-nighter as close as possible to the station so this was ideal for me. In a bit more detail, the bed wasn't too good, the room felt a bit grimy and there never seemed to be anyone on the reception desk when I wanted to take/leave my key! But apart from those minor points, really no gripes and quite content with my overnight stay.

Then I was told the room was ready, I went up again with my heavy bags but it was not ready, so I was told to go down again and wait there. Which I refused and after that I was shown into the room where I at least could sit down and wait for them to finish preparing the room. When I arrived there was no more Singel room available. But the reception was very flexibel, they organised, that I could stay in a room for three - to the price of a Singel.

Hotel Amaryllis was as advertiesed. Very close to the Ville Nice train station and with close access to some decent restaurants and coffee shops. We came in late and tired and got a quick shower and a good recommendation for dinner where there was good food at a reasonable price. The room was good size and there was a tv with the BBC.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was excellent value for money, walking distance from the Gare where the airport bus dropped us off so perfect. The room was clean and modern. The shower was a little small and unpredicatable but adequate. Overall I would definitely recommend this for the budget traveller

I booked that hotel because of lots of good comments on venere homepage - and I can confirm: I had a VERY comfortably stay at Amaryllis. The proportion between price and efforts are very good - for such a cheap hotel the single room was perfectly equipted and the check in-desk was always friendly and helpful. Sum: a simple but adaeqaute accomodation for short stays and low budgets.

I'm very satisfied with the service. The room is cosy and spacious and the hotel operaters are very friendly. And the room fee is very cheap. If I had another chance to visit Nice, I would definitely choose this hotel again.

This hotel is in a great location, being only 2 blocks from the train station and one block from a main street so it was easy to get our bearings for finding our way to the old city and the ocean. There are lots of reasonably priced restaurants in the area. The staff was extremely helpful and fluent in English. The only negative aspect was that the area did not seem particularly safe for a woman walking after dark. It should also be noted that there are several signs stating that food is not allowed in the rooms.

The hotel was not bad at all. The bedrooms were descent enough for a 2 star hotel and the bathrooms were fairly spacious. The breakfast was very good (it costs extra, but is worth it) compared to what other hotels offered on our trip. My only problem with the hotel was it's location. Although it was very handy to be close to the train station (we ended up using the bus depot "Gare Routiere" more often though), the neighborhood wasn't the best of areas. I think that I would've rather paid extra and walked a little further to be closer to the beach and to a better neighborhood. Also at the time, there was a lot of construction going on on Ave Jean Medecin right near the hotel, which made it a little more difficult to walk down towards the beach.

Its what I expect from a good 2 star hotel: clean, functional, adequate breakfast. Also its location was excellent, near all the important sites, shops, beach etc.

Fine and basic. Clean. Staff quite friendly. The room infested with 16 mosquitoes- had we made the mistake of opening the window or were they already in the room? Result 23 bites between us and 2 very sleepless nights. Not what we expected in December. However a cheap and cheerful break.

We stayed here for 3 days with friends last Nov. Almost all things were OK but some things disappointed us. Fisrt one was SHOWER problem. Our room shower din't work well at all. Of course we informed the person at the desk at night and he made his efforts to help us but finally nothing happened to the shower. So we had to have a lot of difficulty in using it. A cold shower in cold winter season!! Second one was that my friend bed sheet had a tiny spot of blood. Generally we were satisfied with our stay at this hotel because of its reasonable price and convinent location.
