We stayed two nights and found the hotel to be very nice. We requested a room with a sea view when we booked the hotel and upon arrival were given a room with a balcony on the 6th floor with a wonderful view of the sea and park. We found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating during our stay. The location of the hotel was wonderful - an easy walk to the sea or restaurants and shopping. We had an early flight out and the staff arranged for a private shuttle company to take us to the airport, the cost of the shuttle for early morning was 35 Euros. We would stay at this hotel again should we return to Nice.

This is our third stay at the Albert 1er in two years and we have always been satisfied, especially the room this time was the best, spacious and had a refrigerator, as well as a very good view overlooking the Albert 1er garden. We only stayed for 1 night this time, but as usual, we enjoyed the proximity of the hotel to both the flower market, seafood restaurants, and the beach. (Last stay we were there for two nights, so we took both the mini train and bus tours and were most pleased to find the stops very near the Hotel Albert 1er, most convenient.) We will always try to stay at this hotel whenever we visit Nice.

Obviously, the hotel is old and has undergone remodeling. As a result, the numbers (rooms) are separated by doors. This makes too audible.

Very well placed hotel, but very old and old furbished. Unfortunately only after my return I read the comments from other travellers and discovered that their comments are the same as mine: old furbished, the elevator not functional, the sea view rooms have hardly a sea view as the hotel is closer to the half square rather than the sea, very noisy because of the street traffic.

Don't go to this hotel if you are concerned about being stuck in a tiny elevator, with a broken vent (that is no air) anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hrs.. maybe more. The elevator was broken for almost 48 hours. We did see plenty of complaints about the elevator on the internet, before we booked. There were ants on the carpet. The hotel and rooms are very outdated and worn out.. 50's. Room very small but bathroom ok. View from the room very nice but you can't enjoy it so much when you stay in a dungeon. AC not cold enough but that's the case with many hotels in France. Park on the street. It's max 9 euros a day instead of 24. There is no lobby, which is not a big deal for some people. You pay extra for internet, but you can't access any site that requires an account: hotmail, yahoo, ebay, can't book a room, flight, etc. The hotel staff doesn't know the reason. The young, Asian girl at the reception is very nice and speaks English well! If you have a choice, stay in Cannes instead of Nice. Cannes feels more like a elegant nice resort. Nice feels like a big city, dirty in some places, inner city feeling on the Promenade at night! outdated hotels. OK.. so the scariest part is the elevator. You really could get stuck there with hardly any air. And there is no real emergency service. We asked.

looks like it has not been renovated since 1950s. Awful smell everywhere at the reception and in the corridor. No fridge at the room, ther was a safe but with no lock in it. We could hear all our neighbours from every side all the time. To get an iron was a problem. In general, whole impression was dreadful, especially for this money we paid

The elevator wasn't working and we had to take all of our bags up 6 flights of stairs.. no offer of assistance from the staff. The staff provided no help whatsoever regarding nearby parking garages. The room was small. We will never stay there again.

The house generally lacks atmosphere and maintenance. Being the only guest, I felt like in a David Lynch movie. The heating was desperate, so I woke up at 4 to put on 2 pullovers in bed. Probably I would have gotten a much better price value relation in a smaller house that is properly run by the owners.

The hotel is in an excellent location - directly between the old town and the city centre, 200m from the beach, and looking onto a green area. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The only detraction was the dated decor and the lack of a public area - the dining room is on the first floor and is only for dining.

We loved this hotel and for the price I don't think the location could be beaten. The room had a proper double bed, not just two singles pushed together which was a huge plus. The staff were friendly and helpful and happy to speak either french or english. The room itself was lovely and always kept to the highest standard. The only thing that made it less than perfect was that the walls between the rooms were thin, this was only an issue on our last night when we had loud people. Overall brilliant, fabulous view too!

The location of this hotel is superb! About 200 metres from the beach and approx. a 5 min walk to the old cetre or the main shopping district. Our room was spacious and clean (although basic and not flashy at all) and overlooked a park and then down to the water. I'd recommend it to all.

The room we had, while dated, was larger than expected, with nice large windows overlooking the park. Location is super, just around the corner from the 'old town Nice.' As stated in other reviews, the noise from other rooms can be an issue. I'm surprised it wasn't more of one for us considering the fact that we were there during the Monte Carlo Grand Prix.

I requested a room with a view of the sea. The view was lovely. The room was very small and very old but clean. My mother and I sometimes share a bed but this double bed was quite small and quite low to the ground. I was traveling with my 87 year old mother. It was a bit hard for her to get out of the bed due to the low height of the mattress. The entrance to the hotel - I wish there was a lobby. I don't remember if this was mentioned in the website. It also wasn't accessible. I don't think the website mentioned that either. It was somewhat difficult for my mother to climb the stairs once in the hotel. At least one railing would have been helpful. I travel often with my 20 something daughter who uses a wheelchair. Be sure the lack of accessibility is mentioned in the website. Overall, it was a cute hotel and nice not to stay in a chain. Had I been alone, it would have been okay, but for older people, the stairs could be a problem.

The hotel has a very attractive location 100m from the Promenade de Anglais and the beach, and also a short walk to the Old Town and restaurant areas. The standard of building, rooms, service etc. is quite normal for this price level in Nice. The breakfast (not included) was a positive surprise with different kinds of tasty food. Our most negative experience was the noise from the traffic at the street outside. The air conditioning system was turned off (turned on only mid-summer?) so with the window open it was actually hard to sleep without earplugs.

The service and accomodations were very basic. That's what we expected (given the price we paid), and that's what we got. The location is excellent as far as access to the sea, as well as access to the surrounding "old city". For those who want high attentiveness and customer service, look somewhere else. We would likely book the same place again, knowing what we do about it's excellent location within Nice and the access to the sea and surrounding "old city".

We really enjoyed our stay at Albert 1er. The day staff was wonderful, very welcoming. But when we arrived at night, we were wishing that the night staff would give us more information about where we could park our car. We asked, but the information given was less than adequate and, tired, we did not push the issue, but found a place and moved the car the next morning. Otherwise, rooms were nice, view was excellent, and location was great! We enjoyed this hotel very much.

I felt the accomadation was very poor. The room had a terrible smell which was reported to reception. Their solution was to spray the room with air freshener which only masked the smell. The adjoining room guests are heard in your room as if they are in there with you in your room. A "sea-view" is very questionable especially from the 2nd floor. The a/c was very poor. Had to take a cold shower to cool off. Bathrooms very spacious and clean. Hallways cluttered. Wouldn't even enter the elevator and walked the steps. Lobby was in poor condition. Great location to beach, shopping, restaurants and tour bus. Front desk staff accomodating with requests, except ice. For the price and amount of time spent in the room it was a good bargain overall.

The location of the hotel is superb, one footstep to the beach and Promenade des Anglais, close proximity to old Nice and to pedestrian shopping streets. The hotel is old and little recent renovation has been done. There room where we stayed would have been part of a suite since there was a door (locked) to get to the next one.. This meant that we could hear all noises from next door and also get smoke from our neighbours (the latest caused me bad allergies, watery itchy eyes and cough). The bathroom was clean but the drain was blocked causing very bad smells of used water. I also developed a rash that I suspect was due to parasites ("punaise de lits").Considering the cost of the room and the standard of the hotel I was very disappointed.

first the room with seaview is not really a seaview. The sea was 45degre left of the room by sea view i would expect the sea in front of the window. Second you could hear everything from next room even whispers at nights. Third the bed was small i am 1.88 tall and i could not fit. the bed both in the head and leg area was closed with a seperation. asked the reception nothing to do all the rooms the same. Other than that the only good thing was its location but i wouldnot stay one more time.

Hotel was smaller than I had imagined from pictures. The room itself was small, but typical for Europe and for the price. A nice balcony opened up the room quite a bit, though, and the bathroom had a full tub and a showerhead. Upon arrival, the room was ready and very clean. The desk clerk spoke excellent English and was expecting us. I wouldn't bother with paying more for the ocean view at this hotel, as it doesn't actually have a side that directly faces the ocean! The location is hard to beat, however. The hotel is within spitting distance of the beach (50 yards?) and there is a wonderful park with a carousel right across the street. Breakfast was pretty good, but don't be fooled, it is not included in the price of the room and costs a hefty 11 euro per person. I would recommend this hotel to others, especially those who will appreciate a smaller, more "bed and breakfast" type place.

The rooms and bathrooms at the Albert Premier were very clean (although shampoo was not supplied) and given the excellent location, the price was very reasonable. However, it is not worth the extra money for a room with a "sea view" since the hotel does not look directly over the ocean, and all you get is a "glimpse of the sea". I also would not recommend this hotel for those who need peace and quiet, since it is situated on a busy corner with a small fairground across the street.
