It caters to young adults wishing to spend a cool, quite cheap and friendly stay in a wonderful city by the sea for a very moderate cost. I have been to Nice and to this specific hotel many times, all the staff is very welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Great location, but very very poor quality hotel. Our room was small, but the toilet was so small we had to leave the door open so our knees would not hit the door !! The shower was dirty and smelly and even a small child would have difficulty getting into the shower as one of the doors was blocked off by the sink. Staff were pleasant, but largely ignored us and building work started each morning outside our window at 8.00am.......so no lay in. This hotel would be best described as a hostel and not a 2 star hotel. Nice was a beautiful city, but next time I will pay extra for a better hotel !!

Couldn't really rate this hotel as when we arrived at the hotel we were informed that the room we had booked had no water or electricity, and therefore we didn't even get to see the room. The guy rang another hotel close by and got us a room there so on that front I suppose he was helpful. To be honest thought he was a bit un apologetic about the situation though and an e-mail explainng the problem would have been appreciated as we would have tried to get a different hotel ourselves as had picked that one based on the ratings it got. Would say that the location was really good!

The hotel is really accessible from the airport, only a 2 minute walk from the bus stop. Around a 1 minute walk to the beach. The hotel is surrounded by small shops and restaurants and is a great hotel if you are looking for a cheap place to stay in a great location.

Although we got a triple room (1 twin+1 single)it looked no bigger than a double room.we were on 3rd floor and there's no lift in the hotel which is quite depressing.

Best point; the hotel was in a great position. Bad: the bathroom which was very shabby - mould in the shower, rubble in the corner Worst: the toilet which did not flush and threatened to overflow (didnt dare use it!), and was not fixed although we asked for it to be repaired.

I love 1 Med Hotel! Since it's perfect location very close to the sea side. Besides, the staff are all helpful. They guide us how to go around and visit famous sights in Nice, and keep our lugguge for 4 hours after check out. This hotel is amazingly like a family. There is a sitting room on 2nd floor where offers breakfast. Even more, you can take rest and chat with friends there.

Good value for the money we spent (30 euro/double to which the hotel added the local tax despite the fact that it was said to be included in the price). Good things: cheap, great location, the room was spacious and quiet, clean sheets and towels. Not good things: bad smell on first night (due to the neighbour dog), old and dirty aspect of the room and facilities (it seems that they have some nice rooms; may be for the price shown at the front desk), no maps/info available. Acceptable for 2 nights stay, but next time in Nice we will try another hotel.

I stayed with my best friend at Med 1 for three nights in December. We found very welcoming and charming staff at any time during our stay. We didn't try the breakfast, so we can't make any comment on that. However, the overall feel of the place is simple but charming. Our room was small and clean, maybe needing some work, but everything functioning well. For the price, and location (right behind the Negresco, meaning about 100m from the beach) this place is unbeaten. It looked like there is some work going on, so we assume that soon all rooms will look like the ones on the pictures. We would stay there again!

First but not last time in Cote D'Azur, perfect match for the location service and the money. Very easy to access a minute walk from Gambetta bus station. Pharmacy grocery cafe pub bar brasserie beaches and all attractions are in walking distance. Very safe place, rooms are clean, friendly staff, satisfied enough for the value but it must be more than 2stars, we are very pleased according to our expectations. We would not recommend a stay here. Beds very uncomfortable, we could barely get our luggage in our room as our hallway was full of laundry bags so hard to get in front of our door. We both said this is the losest place we have ever stayed, We needed to bring our luggage before check in time and they said they would take care of it leave it across from their desk. So we did assuming they had a locked room they would place it in. Came back at check in time and there was our luggage sitting right in the lobby still. The desk clerks often leave their station to take guests to their room so we felt our luggage could of been easily taken. Their location is great by the Promeade however the other people that live in the same interior patio area were quite nosiy and made and woke us up by yelling late into the night. I would never stay there again and don't recommend it at all. We marvel that they could retain a 2 star rating they were a no star in our book.

We took two double rooms, one was ok, but anther had fetid smell of sewerage. The staff was so kind to change the room on the second day. The next room was ok. The overview of both "normal" rooms: they are not big, but enough for sleeping, the furniture is not new (one bed was shaking), but there are TV and air conditioning. The worst thing in these roomes were bath rooms. They looked dirty, there were hair in the bath and etc. We had to take shower wearing slippers. The rooms were a little bit noisy (neighbors and street) So it you are going just to sleep there for cheap prise, it is ok. BTW: The place is very-very good: 3 minutes walking from free beach; wonderful bakery, fruit-shop and snackbar with good breakfast next door!!!

What can you expect for this price? Nothing! So, we didn't expect anything! Room was crappy but enough to get some sleep. Better not to inspect the room. Just sleep and get out. Why bother to have breakfast for 7 euro? No idea! There are many shops and cafes downstairs. Staff is pleasant. Not good for spending more than one or maximum, two night. Just a sleepover place, while traveling somewhere else. Oh, and my girlfriend enjoyed the gay male porno/fetish film from the 80's at midnight on the tv that has 4 channels. =)

We were one week in Nice. The location is excellent, because you arrived every interested or historical places by feet. With the cheap busses (the best will be a day-ticket directly from the airport) you can visited all nice places in Nice or around like Antibes, Monaco, Grasse and so on. The hotel is simply, but quit enough for sleeping, only. They have nothing against to take no breakfast there. We did it in our room or eating generelly outside. It was our first time in Nice and when we have time again, we will stay there again. (Sorry, for my English)

Quiet and Big Room, but no water kettle inside the room either no hairdryer. A little crowded bathroom with a little bit broken shower nozzle. It is so nice to give me a family room although I only booked for a double room, but the pity was the double bed was combined by two single beds to cause some unconfortable sleeping from time to time. However, the location is perfect, no matter it is quite near seaside and bus station. Even you can buy some food by 1 mins walking.

Med Hotel is a good base for a quick stay in Nice. Our room was gorgeous, with two big windows overlooking the street. The outside noise was almost unheard when both windows were shut. Interior walls are thin and we heard complete conversations... but this was only the once. The main problem is the bathroom - a great size and very clean, but very damp. A strong smell of mould. Spent as little time as possible there. TV and airconditioning in room. Didn't bother trying the breakfast as there were many boulangerie's in walking distance. A bit too far from the old town - 15 mins walk - for our liking.

The hotel is really closed to the center you will just have to walk for 5 mn to get to the restaurants area. One of the best is called QUEBEC. Regarding the hotel itself, everything was ok but one of the double room that we get (we had 1 double and 2 triple) seems to have been closed for a while and so the bathroom tubes smelt really bad at the beginning. Than it was also ok. Everything was clean and really pretty. One of our complain is about the wifi internet connection: it does not work very well.

The hotel is a current working building site, the rooms were smoking rooms and the smell was so bad we had to sleep with the windows open. The beds curtains, carpet were all drenched in cigarette smoke. The roof of the room had a big gaping hole in it. When asked if we could have an alternate room the staff said all the rooms smell like that. It was too terrible being an asthmatic it wasnt an enjoyable experience. Hence the low price we paid although the walk in price was 20EUR more which is an absolute rip off..

This is an excellent hotel for a visit to Nice, well situated close to the city centre and also to the beach. The rooms are not very large, but are clean and in good shape. The staff were also very friendly and of good help. We were traveling with small children, and they let us leave our trolley down in the reseption. It is difficult to grumble as we paid a very good price. I would say that although the room was OK, the batroom had a bad damp problem and there was a lot of mould on the walls and floor. The shower worked well though. The room was OK and not too noisy esp. as were on the first floor at the front. Bed was comfy enough and the staff were very friendly. Good location as well. 5 mins to beach/staion/shops. Would recommend this hotel if you are on a tight budget and are using it purely as a place to sleep.

the room was quite small but ok. you clearly saw that the bathroom was not new, but it was functional. the only problem was the water temperature: it changed between freezing and almost boiling every couple of minutes. for young persons who want to stay in Nice for not much money, this hotel ist the right thing. If you have some higher attents, you'd rather look for another one. The walls between the rooms are not very thick, so if you have noisy neighboors you might be annoyed. The rooms were clean, although a bit small. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was so very hot the day that we stayed and there is no airconditioning in the rooms, although there was a fan. The heat is the only thing that made our stay slightly unpleasant. We had to sleep with the windows open and it was quite noisy outside, so between the heat and noise I had a terrible nights sleep. They were doing some improvements to the breakfast room while we were there and the hotel is very well situated. We did like it, it was just too hot! There was no lift, so you have to be able to lift your suitcase up the stairs. Also if you have a car you need to expect to pay about 20+ Euros to park your car in a parking house for one day.

1 Med was a good base to explore Nice and the Cote d'Azur. For the price I guess it was fair the only criticism that our room on the 3rd floor was at the end of a shabby corridor with wires and pipes exposed through holes in the wall. The bathroom was also a bit shabby (although clean enough). That said the rooms are a good size with modern, airy decor. I would probably stay there again if I was on a tight budget but splash out for something nicer if I could afford it

This hotel is DISGUSTING! The room was somewhat large but hardly clean. The first night, one of my friends got bitten by BEDBUGS!! And when we asked the front desk person to change the sheets, he refused but finally gave in after a 20 min long discussion about why we needed the sheets changed. The hallway leading to the room was full of construction materials: hammers, loose nails, buckets of plaster etc. On top of that, the hall lights didnt work and it's no wonder because there were EXPOSED WIRES in the hallway. There was a balcony in the room, but it was covered with construction materials as well as old bathtubs, toilets and other garbage. There was no A/C or a fan in the room and we had to keep the balcony door closed at all times because of the mosquitos so needless to say it was very uncomfortable sleeping there. Also, the beds were very, very uncomfortable and the shower in the bathroom leaked all over the place. The toilet also didn't flush very well. The surrounding area is okay. Close to the promenade and the bar next door has pretty decent croissants for breakfast. To get to Old Nice where the nightlife and restaurants are located, you have to walk for about 20 min. Overall this was the crappiest hotel we stayed in on our 6 week tour of Europe. We knew that it was not the Ritz or anything and the other hotels we stayed in also didn't have many amenities, but this place was downright dirty! The staff was unwelcoming and unhelpful and like I said before, there were BEDBUGS!!!! Stay away from this place...I am sure there are plenty of other hotels in Nice in the same price range that aren't filthy and gross!

The Med Hotel is a nice place to stay, right in the middle of Nice. The rooms very not very clean but besides everything was great. The Negresco is very close by and open for public visitors, and the park is a recommanded place for a great view over Nice.

in a nice neighborhood- close to the sea, with a good selection of small restaurants and eateries, cafes, shops and other things- relatively lively surroundings. some stores are open till late, fairly convenient. hotel itself is not impressive, although entrance is somewhat charming. staff is friendly, helpful to a certain extent (not too efficient). we reserved a double room, but ended up with 1 double bed and 2 single beds.. not sure why. the bathroom: small and narrow. but the most problem we had was to keep the water from spilling out the shower. could be a bit noisy, since the street comes alive with pedestrians early in the morning, but we didn't have much trouble with noise during the night. good for the price & location.

Friendly staff mostly all spoke good English. Our room was spacious but very basic. Bathroom could maybe do with a modern makeover. However it looked like they were in the middle of doing up the place, the breakfast room was newly decorated and they were fitting air conditioning in the rooms whilst we were there. Its a nice base to stay in whilst you explore Nice; not too far from the main bits and beach. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Nice.

- Situation of Hotel is okay, as seafront is just one street away. you can reach the centre in a 10 minute walk - quality of rooms is bad: too small, no aircondition

We only stayed one night, luckily! The first impression was poor. There was renovation in the hall outside our door and very dirty. The worst part was discovered later: No hot water in the shower! That really ruins your day!

An excellent choice in Nice. Great location. New management has made some changes from previous web descriptions but no problem. Very attractive price point and price/value ratio. Our young twenties-something small family group liked it a lot, would recommend and would return.

nice little hotel, room was very warm (july)but fan supplied helped.shower and water pressure was quite bad but for a short stay the location couldnt be better!we had an 18 month old baby with us and found the windows a bit dangerous with low barrier.no lift but we were able to leave the buggy down in the lobby.didnt eat as the place was being renovated, cafe next door was good.basically a good value hotel for sleeping in ....great location ...would find it hard to get a better deal so close to the action, watch taxis from airport, ask to put on meter before moving from airport they try to charge 25-35 euro to nice but should only be 15 by meter i gave 20 when asked for 35 euro and told him take it or leave it ,,,taking his number... he scurried off...slimball !

Very close to the beach--not more than a 5-10 minute walk. Also, on a street not far from plenty of restaurants, not to mention excellent patisseries. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very nice facilities--clean and well-kept. Rooms small if judged by North American standards; definitely not an issue for us. We would definitely stay again!

This was a good room but at time of check out they required Cash. We were not advised of this ahead of time thus ended up scrounging to make the payment of all our cash on hand leaving us without funds for a taxi. Ahead notice would have been much better business practice.

Although the hotel is old and a bit tattered, our room was very clean, as was the entire property. The hotel lobby was secure at night. Veneer lists the hotel name as Paris-Nice, but the sign on outside of building is 1-Med Hotel - possibly the name changed since we made the booking. The hotel is very well located - just a block off the Promenade and a large car park about a block away. The breakfast for 7 Euro was as good as any found at a cafe for the same price (and it included fresh sqeezed orange juice). We would stay there again. This is the first time we've used Venere - we will use them again.

The guy at the desk was very helpful in directing us even though he said he didn't speak much english and I was happy to see the bathtub after so many showers. The hotel is only blocks away from the ocean and very clean. The breakfast wasn't bad either.

Nice little hotel and great value! Room towards loud road, -but all roads are busy in Nice..- good windows, therefore nevertheless a good nights sleep.. Owners were very nice, but have sold the hotel, so owners are changing soon. Liked the nearness to the beach, good location. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it to others.

We had a great stay here. The hotel was very clean and tidy, the service excellent and all for a great price. The location couldn't have been much better. With the windows closed you can't here the noise from the street but with them open it can be a bit noisy at night, but not enough to disturb our sleep. We would definitely use this again.

The hotel is old, but rooms are clean, if you need a bed and a washroom and you do not want to spend to much this is the best! The location is one of the best one... the hotel is in the street behind the famous hotel Negresco and 15 minutes from the rail station and 5 minutes from the pedestrian area. Good choice!

Our stay at the Hotel Paris was wonderful. The room was indeed a petite french room, but exactly what we expected. Since my boyfriend and I live in Manhattan (New York City), we are used to small spaces so this was not an issue. The location was perfect, right on the border of residential and tourist neighborhoods. We were within a 15 minute walk from everything Nice has to offer and only 2 blocks from the beach/sea. We did not partake in the hotel's breakfast since the cafe directly outside the hotel was wonderful, serving a variety of dishes at a very low price. FYI: the cafe's coffees were the best we had in all of France. I would recommend this family ran hotel to anyone I know. They were extremely hospitable and spoke fluent English and kindly helped us with our French.

This is a modest hotel, but the price also reflects that. We mainly needed a place to sleep for the night, but we were not prepared for a 3 flight walkup...no lift!! That can we difficult with luggage in tow. Bathroom was tiny and leaky.

My niece and I loved Paris Nice. Our room was on the second floor and was very cute and nicely decorated. Though it was small by American standards, the room was certainly big enough for the two of us. Didn't hear a lot of street noise when the windows were open, none when they were closed. No elevator - but, who cares. There's only about 3 floors. The breakfast room was warm and welcoming as was the owner of the hotel. We loved the hot chocolate and croissants - very French. Great location - close to the Promenade de Anglais and the pedestrian walkway. We would definitely stay here again.
