The Roosevelt is a grand hotel in a convenient location with a friendly, competent staff. I have been to Manhattan many times but return to the Roosevelt, not only for its reasonable rates but for its ambiance.

Serious staff issues. Bar and cleaning managers in particular. Our stay was only made better by the lovely Margery (manager) Gus (porter) and a few pleasent staff. Overall staff seem to have a sense of doing the public a favour by putting up with us. Unexceptable in this day and age! It was our honeymoon and zero effort was made to make us feel welcome apart from the aforementioned couple. Wifi was $16.95 for 24 hours, but it's turned off at 5am every morning? Could be a great hotel if staff were more like Margery and Gus.

The room had only one light and it was very dark, so dark that I could not read. There was no desk. The bathroom was cramped and did not have enough shelf space for our toiletries. I think it was expensive for what it was. This is not a good survey as some of the categories are not applicable to me and there is no place to indicate that.

This hotel was EXTREMELY noisy. We could hear a room that FOUR rooms away until 4:00 am! It was so loud and noisy that we considered leaving at 1:00 AM to take a train home. Also, even though we were on the 7th floor, because the windows are old and thin, we could hear every taxi horn. Furthermore, the room did not look exactly as depicted on the website. Very very small, very plain. One whole wall of the room had nothing but a TV planted precisely in the middle. No pictures, no decorations, no TV stand, no desk - nothing. Just a bed and night stand. The noise was our main complaint, and because of that, we would never stay here again.

This was our first trip to New York with the grandchildren! I booked the Roosevelt because it is used by TravelSphere for their New York trips and we have had good service from them! I booked 2 rooms. A 'standard' and a 'superior'. I couldn't tell the difference. The décor was worn out. The whole place needs a facelift. The top had come off one of the taps and took 2 days to get fixed. The bathroom door had to be slammed to shut it. Needs fixing! We were on the 10th floor. The sash windows didn't close properly so it was very noisy, you can hear the street noise all night, and the air conditioning couldn't cool the room down even when left on 24/7. The a/c system was very noisy so we had trouble sleeping. To pay $14.95 for 24 hours wifi with a speed of 1 Mb is a joke, but they think it's so funny they let you choose $19.95 for 3 Mb as well. Proper hotels I stay in include wifi!!! The worst thing was when I needed to print the boarding cards for the return flight. The 2 computers in the lobby wouldn't print, so I asked at reception and was told to use the business centre. This was on Saturday night and the business centre is only open Monday to Friday! Eventually I found someone who told me where there was a PC I could use as everyone had problems with the 2 in the lobby. Why don't they just fix the problem? Bar service was good. We didn't eat in the hotel except for a cheesecake in the bar, which was very nice. I will not be staying at the Roosevelt again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The lobby is beautiful and relaxing. We have nothing but positive feelings about our time at the Roosevelt. The location was also ideal close to everything but away from the noise of times square

Wonderful experience at the Roosevelt! A friend and I took a few days as a "girls' getaway". Stayed in a double room with 2 double beds on the 10th floor. Plenty of room, quiet, super comfortable beds, very clean, friendly staff, convenient location. Have stayed here before and will stay here again.

Old hotel. Needs renovation. Waited for an hour to get the car from the parking garage at check-out. Fortunately, the personal at the front desk were helpful.

Perfect location for a visit to NYC .dissapointed with size of room.could not believe that the room had no tea or coffee making facilities .overall the central location was superb but prehaps that's what you are paying for with this hotel.i must say that the main entrance and bar areas are very impressive.

The Wi-Fi charges are extortionate but an App on I-phone removed these, without that it would cost $14-$25 per day. There was filming going on in public areas during our stay which caused minor inconvenience. The hotel is perfectly placed for touring the whole of New York, very close to many attractions and the Metro at Grand Central Station is just a short walk from the hotel. The deal we got was excellent value but even at full price, for a hotel this close to everything, it is reasonable

The air conditioner barely functioned. We alerted the front desk, and the man we spoke to wrote a note to get the air conditioner fixed. Nothing happened. We asked a second time. Nothing happened. The second time the woman we spoke to did not even write down the problem.

We booked a superior king room for 3 nights. It was not large, but certainly adequate until the first morning when brown water came out of the bathtub spigot. There was some renovation going on and this was the apparent cause. I notified the front desk and was soon upgraded to a junior suite. Staff was apologetic, gracious, and responsive. Junior suite was roomy and quite nice. Hotel is old but but has all the modern conveniences and remains classy without being ostentious. It was featured in "Maid in Manhattan", if you are a J Lo fan.
