Rooms are very small so you can easily get claustrophobic! However the location is very convenient, I was traveling alone and only for few days and it was still a good choice for me. For longer epriod I would go in a different place, but for couple of days, just to enjoy NY is a good rate hotel.

I enjoyed my stay very much - the staff was as polite as anyone could have, the rooms and the linen were clean and the location was superb (49th st. between Broadway and the 8th Av.). My only problem was that it cost a lot, an average of 190$ per night and to that taxes were added and they added a lot (an average of 40-50$ a night), so my initial estimate was quite mistaken.

It was not a first time I found my hotel with the help of Venere. As usual, it was successful. The hotel was not new at all, but very clean. The room is not big, but with enouph space. Perfect location near Times square. Very little noise in the room. I spent a week in the hotel with my wife, and we found this hotel good for its price. What was wrong? Very ald furnuture, doors, windows, airconditioner that worked poorly and computer that was in the room, as promised, but didn't work at all.

My wife and I loved to stay very close of the Manhattan heart. The hotel has an amazed location (its only walk until the corner to see the lights of Time Square). The room is small but very comfortable and renovated. Cleanliness and quality of service provided were the key words that Mayfair hotel has a lot. I really recommend this hotel and sincerely: - we'll be back!

The room was clean, compact and quiet, perfect for what we wanted - walking distance to shows, restaurants and trains. Perfect, central location for other venues too. Great value. Very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient staff. Have stayed here in the past. Will again.

Unbelievably good location just off Times Square, and a good bargain for NYC prices. There is some construction going on, and one can only hope that this will include a facelift on the generally dowdy condition of things. It's not bad, just in need of some renovation. All in all, for a relatively clean, quiet and cheap place to sleep in a great tourist location, this is the ticket.

For NYC, this is not too bad of a price, though, of course, you get what you pay for. The rooms are tiny, the window faced the airshaft, the tv was half broken and the floor sloped along with the bed making sleeping a very interesting endeavor. Aside from that, it was clean, the bathroom was in good order, and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. If you're on a budget and don't plan to hang out in your room all day, this is really a pretty good deal.

The room was very small and in a state of disrepair. Even though the room rate was low, I would not stay here again. I would spend the extra money and go to a nicer hotel.

In all our years using Venere to select hotels this is the first time that we were very disappointed with a hotel. The staff were of no help at all, the place was tiny, we book and paid for a deluxe room and no way was what we were given a deluxe room. The whole hotel was in a bad way for decorating - there were cleaners around everyday - but the hotel was very shabby. The in-room safe was not working and it was 3 - 4 days before anyone came back to us on this (it could not be fixed). Our valuables were not safe! We would NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone. We choose it for it's price and location and were very, very disappointed with it. We did not allow it to ruin our stay in New York which was excellent.

The hotel looks much nice in the website that it really is. However, the location is great, and the relationship service vs price is very good. Rooms are very small but who goes to New York to spend so much time in a hotel room!!!!

We stayed in NYC for 6 nights. Althought the hotel was perfectly located in the heart of the city, we found its room very small and not clean. Rate was good but not so cheap as we thought.

We ask for a double room with two beds, however all the rooms in the hotel have only one bed according to recepcionist. WQe are not gays and one of us had to sleep on the floor.

Honestly, I was so disappointed in this hotel. The location was great the rest was awful. The bed was comfy and the sheets were clean. The room had an iron, small hairdryer, magnifying mirror and airconditioning but it was so small. The stairs and hallway had not been vacuumed for ages. The manager needs some hospitality skills, and they charged $8 to store your luggage for an hour while you wait for your pick up. All in all I felt like I was ripped off. The photos on the website and the brochures must have been done 10 years ago. I would NEVER go back.

Public areas and restaurant have been under renovation during our stay so it was not easy to find the typical ambiance anounced. The rooms are anounced as already renoveted but some details (poor silicon seals in the bath room ...) are signs of economically orientated  maintenance. Despite triple-glass windows the street noise during the nigth (we had room 404)is uncomfortable.                All advantages related to the ideal hotel location are compensating the (partly temporary) inconveniants

Rooms are tiny but clean and nicely appointed. There is free DSL hook-up in every room. Theatre district location is great, and hotel is surprisingly quiet for its location. There is no bar or restaurant, but the hotel is fine for a very economical visit to NYC where you really only need your room for sleeping and doing e:mail.

Rooms are tiny and basic but adequate. Staff were friendly and helpful but refused to take payment upfront (in cash) and insisted on swiping my card for security??? all monies were returned to my account on return to the UK. Excellent location, could not have been better. Is 5 steps away from Times Square but rooms are fairly quiet. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a base to explore New York and is not bothered about the lack of room space.

I love this hotel. The rooms are definitely tiny but I travel alone and they're plenty big enough for me. The rooms are clean and the bed is incredibly comfortable. The building is old but I think it's charming and I'll always come here as long as the rooms are available. Special pluses for me is the Cyber Cafe (almost next door) a lovely old church right across the street, gourmet grocery on the corner and the subway only minutes away.
