Travelers looking to grasp the true urban feel of New York, known to many as The Melting Pot, are sure to stay in The Jane Hotel, New York City. History seems to fill the air of each cabin-like room, designed specifically to give guests a feel of Bohemian maritime mixture. Dating back to 1908, this hotel originally was a lodging for sailors. And if that were not history enough, this landmark New York hotel was the accommodation for the survivors of the Titanic tragedy.

Located in Manhattan's chic West Village, guests will have style, trend and excitement just outside their door. Across the street from the Hudson River Park, tourists can enjoy New York City at its best, whether it be eating at the latest hot-spot, strolling along the piers with the locals, or shopping in the neighborhood that is home to the TV program Sex and the City.

This charming hotel is for tourists who want to see the real New York at budget prices. The Jane Hotel Manhattan will not disappoint the curious traveler, interested in getting to know this fascinating city and its people.

Local taxes (14.75% Total Tax + $3.50 occupancy tax per room per night) are not included in the price.

For a budget traveler it is a good choice. But be aware the "Standerd cabin" is very small with no wash hand basin, clean enough but carpet could do with replacing and very dusty round hard to reach places. The shared bathroom are kept clean but a lot of people using them so at busy times you might have to waite a little while. You are provided with a bathroom gown and disposable footware. Price is good but only because you are in Manhattin!! The location is off the beetan track but is OK and safe. Ten minuet walk to nearest Subway and that is OK to use even late at night. There are a lot of good restaurant's and bars within walking distance. Enjoy your stay. (AB, Ireland)

Wasn't sure what to expect, especially with shared bathrooms but the bathrooms were very private, clean and easy and the room was amazing! The restaurant and bar had great atmosphere and wonderful selection. Subway was within walking distance along with so many other amazing things, just so much better than staying in Times Square or Midtown. I highly recommend staying at the Jane.

This was a magical place to stay, I loved the old world feel with modern conveniences. The staff surpassed expectation, the location was ideal for a traveller who loves the outdoors. This quirky hotel captured my heart, and I heartily recommend it to all who love a travel experience beyond a comfy pillow.

Rooms could have used washcloths, and shower water was quickly cold on my second day, but otherwise I LOVED it! The cafe on the first floor was so amazing I ate there three times!

Is a good hotel in the meatpacking zone, really nice zone with beautiful restaurants, designer stores, bars and pubs... too chick! The hotel is good, the rooms are small but are good for the price. Is good if you are thinking to stay few days and only to sleep.

The Jane is honestly amazing. I would definitely recommend a stay there, as the building and rooms are one of a kind, and just fabulous. The staff is great, and although I only had a short visit, without a chance to try their cafe, the surrounding area has some incredible eateries.

Standard cabins are very tiny but furnished very cleverly to offer space for luggage. I had a single bed cabin. It seems that double bed cabins have the same size and a bunk bed. With two persons, it will be extremely narrow. A downside of the tininess of cabins is the heath in summer. I could barely sleep. The air condition makes a lot of noise and can only be turned on if you reside in the cabin. So, this hotel is not the best choice if you want to stay several nights in a hot summer. Cabins and shared bathrooms were very clean. There are only very showers and toilets for many cabins. During my stay, that was not a problem since there were not that many guests. A great thing is the free bike rental and the great location at the Hudson.

The rooms are incredibly small - as sleeping in a closet. Next to the hotel is a highway and you hear the noise day and night. The web-site said a room with bathroom. When I arrived, I realized that bathroom is shared with other rooms.

I enjoyed my stay at the Jane Hotel. Without exception, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel was conveniently situated only about a five or six minute walk from the subway. I had been a bit concerned at the thought of having to share the washrooms and showers, but my concerns were unfounded -- I never had to wait and the standard of cleanliness was excellent. The cafe provided an imaginative assortment of food at a reasonable price, and the service was quick and attentive. Taken all round, I recommend the Jane as good value for money, and I look forward to returning there on my next trip to New York City.

I enjoyed my stay at The Jane, a quirky hotel which is reasonably priced and in a great area. The only downside to my stay was they took a swipe of my card which meant they took the amount of the stay out of my account, then did again when I finalised the bill. I did get the money back after 5 working days but I was still without £500 during this time which effected my stay in New York

The room was very small but it does it job. The common bath room was clean and almost never a que. The only bad thing about the hotel was the air conditioning in the room that was VERY noisy.

This is a fantastic hotel! One of the best locations in NYC, a stones throw from Chelsea Markets and the village. The staff are all friendly and helpful, the walk from the subway is very nice. Yes, the rooms are small, but for what you're paying it's excellent value for money. The showers and bathrooms are all spotless and I never had to wait for either. I look forward ot teh opportunity to stay again.

Not having the bathroom in the room is a problem, but toilets in the floor are cleaned often and I found them always in order, therefore I did not suffer this too much. Staff is helpful and kind. The cafeteria downstairs and the surroundings are a plus. If you can overcome the bathroom issue, I strongly recommend it.

This was my first time at the Jane and I really enjoyed it. It's not for everyone but it you are looking for a very practical yet soulful place to stay in NYC this is it. Also the bar area is a real treat and so is the little breakfast place. These are both good enough to draw crowds from outside the hotel. I will definitely be staying there again.

Next time I would opt for the Captain's room, so that I could have my own bathroom. The shared bathrooms were okay, but I missed having access to my own facilities.

It is unique. Of course you have to accept shared bathroom but is worth at least if you travel alone. The hotel is great, the place is great and staff is very helpful and kind. I have already recommended to friends.

Overall a great stay at the Jane. Rooms were as described like ship cabins. The common bathrooms were well-clean. Easy to find and use and each with separate rooms for individual shower stalls and toliets. It can get noisy but used the AC to help cool (as the heating is efficient) and also to cut down on the noise. Subway is not that far away, easy five minute walk if that. Not that far to walk to other areas. For the price and location, not a bad deal at all.

Great for single travellers on a tight budget who don't want to compromise on location. The Jane has bags of Greenwich Village shabby chic charm. The rooms, or "cabins" are certainly small, but so well designed that I never felt cramped. Very well appointed with air conditioning, fan, flat screen tv, iPod dock, safe and more than ample storage. The shared bathrooms were always very clean, and I never had to wait to use them. Ample hot water and great, powerful showers. The white waffle robes and slippers are a nice touch. All the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Even the old-style elevator is charming!
