Good location to Time Square and Theaters. Hotel guests were all attending plays and visiting time Square. Lowered room cleanliness rating because mobile (wheels) refrigerator had not been moved or cleaned under in a long time. Floor was full of trash/dirt when bellman moved the frig to check if it was operating. Room was small, web photo makes it look larger. Front desk staff were very good and when I recognized the manager for how well he handled another guest who was registering a complaint he thanked me with a welcome gift from the hotel. The room cleaning staff were very nice to provide for our special requests for towels and extra paper products.

We liked this hotel very much. The location is excellent to shows, shopping, restaurants, and yet a little off the "beaten path". We did request two beds and got a queen room. I will recommend your hotel to friends. The hotel staff which includes the men at the door were helpful and friendly. The concierge service was excellent.

The only hotel I will stay at in NYC. I have been coming to NYC for many years and have stayed at other hotels if the Belvedere was booked but this is always my first choice .

I had a king size bed. Very little room to move about in actual room. Bathroom was small. My only complaint was when we checked out my husband went to garage around the corner to get the car & took him 2 hrs to get back to the hotel. There was a 1/2 of marathon going on in NYC & all the roads were blocked. When we checked out no one at desk mentioned this. I realize they don't know when people check out were their going, but I feel staff should be aware of what is going on in the city when it affects travel. The staff should give everyone this information upon leaving just as a FYI.

I ranked the quietness as lower due to the sounds coming from the heater in the room. Also we were on the 15th floor and we could hear the sirens from the street below. Otherwise everything about it was outstanding.

I was surprised that the price quoted was only for one night. When I got my bill it was higher for the additional nights I stayed there.

We had an excellent stay, the location was brilliant for us, with a 5 minute walk to times square and Broadway theatres. The bed was spacious and very comfortable. The room was very clean. The only mildly negative comment was the street noise at night, which you can do nothing much about. Thanks for a lovely stay

We had been to Manhattan once before, 2 years ago, and used airbnb, which was a disaster due to a sociopathic apt owner with cockroaches (even though the apt and building were beautiful). We moved to another apt and that one also had problems, so we decided to use a hotel this time. Belvedere was great. We stayed for 6 nights. The staff were all excellent. The kitchenette consisted only of a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker, so don't plan on cooking. There were no dishes or utensils, but they brought us everything we asked for. It was great to be able to have a small breakfast and fix sandwiches or snacks. The coffee maker was extremely basic and the pouches of coffee weren't so good, but Starbucks is a block away. The location is incredibly great, only a block from a full grocery store, about 3 blocks from Times Sq, 2 blocks to subways. Our room had a couple of problems initially with dirt on the floor and kitchen counter, but they sent someone immediately to clean it. After that, everything was well done. The room was spacious by NY standards, but only had one chair. Internet is $11/night extra, but we mostly used our cell phones to get email or even connect the laptop through. I would stay here again, but watch for pricing specials. I had followed prices for 2-3 weeks and pounced on a sudden drop, which wasn't repeated any other time afterwards. Oh, there is no thermometer in the room and nights got too warm, so we and many others we spoke with had to crack open windows even though it was in the 20's outside, but all of the issues listed here are really minor compared to how nice the hotel, staff and location are.

Absolutely would not recommend this awful hotel for future travel. Initial room had a broken heater which banged loudly all night long. Water seeped from the bottom which produced a wet floor. Requested a room change for this reason the next day and was moved into a wheel chair accessible room with a view of an adjoining building. Made a third request for a room change and was offered another room but the wi if remained crappy for the remainder of the stay. Had to use the hotel computer to complete our air port check out. Do not bother to pay extra for wi if it stinks at this hotel! Asked to extend our stay but was told there were no rooms for us not even a downsized room. Proceeded to ask the manager and suddenly there was a room available and we did not have to move for our last night. The front desk man who wanted me to identify him as Randy was rude and told me I could have a late checkout for 1 o'clock instead of noon But we were locked out of the room at noon immediately despite him agreeing to allow the 1 o' clock checkout. Front door person was mean to our taxi shouting at him and this pretty much summed up our terrible stay!

In my room the air conditioner did not work properly at all. They sent a techician that went twice during my stay. He made his best. I think that old equipment must be changed. The housekeeping personell was excellent, and Ray at the front desk, SUPERB.

The hotel is a threadbare shadow of a bygone glory. The hallways (7th floor) smelled of pine sol and stale air. The room air/heat required the curtains stay open because it was a window unit. Because of this you loose the privacy. Bathroom fixtures while clean were a robbed until the chrome was long gone, and leaked making it nearly impossible to turn off drippy faucets at night.

Great central location, very quiet rooms (we were next to elevator and never heard a thing!) friendly, helpful staff, especially the concierge. The rooms are relatively small but if you are in your room in New York something is wrong! We liked having the fridge and coffee maker. I am not used to spending this much on a hotel room but for NY the price was reasonable- including WIFI in the price would be a nice touch. I read comments from others that the elevator wait was problematic- never experienced this once.

The 2nd day of our 4 day stay was extremely difficult as we had no hot water for more than 12 hours and no water at all for about 3 hours. There was a water problem in the hotel which they were repairing all day This was our first time at this hotel and we are not sure we would return.

At 10 AM, we awaited as 3 elevators stopped on our floor, but were filled to the brim. Finally, the maid told the crowd that was waiting that they could use the service elevator. It filled up and we could not fit, so we had to turn around and wait for the fourth elevator before we could get downstairs. It took forever. For the price of the room, internet should not cost extra. Our breakfast was particularly disappointing. We had cold eggs, lukewarm sausage, cold pancakes, that were broken, and watery oatmeal. We told the host that the food was cold and watched as he told someone from the kitchen. We observed as the kitchen worker shrugged his shoulders and just walked away. He was not interested. He made no effort to even check or make amends. We spent $58 for that breakfast. Surely, we could have had a better breakfast somewhere else for that price. I would not stay here again, for these reasons. The room was very nice, the staff was excellent, but I can get a similar room that serves a decent breakfast, has free internet, and larger elevators, for the same price.

The room had more space for our family of 4[mom, dad, 14 & 10 year old boys] than comparable hotels. Any issues we had with our room were taken care of quickly. We used the microwave & fridge for morning/night snacks & it kept our salmon & bagels from Russ & Daughters fresh for a morning meal. Fitness room was adequate: treadmills, free weights, universal, elliptical, TV. The 2 elevators could be slow so we often took the stairs to our 7th floor room. For a nicer view, try for a higher floor. We left our window open most of the time & were not bothered by street noise. We were a little further from Times Square but the walk was not bad. Subway access was close. On 9th Ave we found a good bakery for bread & Easter cookies & ate at 5 Napkin Burger: crowded & noisy but good service, great burgers, onion rings, etc. The Shake Shack was also good but try a less busy time, once the Broadway shows start[?]. We bought weekly metro passes; a good deal for us as we toured different sections of town different days: Financial District [911 site], Empire State Building, Times Square, Brooklyn, Central Park & used it for our return trip to LaGuardia via subway/bus saving the $50 cab fare. The trip was not bad but may have been less crowded on Easter Sunday morning. It took us about an hour hotel-to-airport. Katz' Deli was DELICIOUS even though crowded & a little difficult to figure out the food lines to the first time [no credit cards] -- just a block from Russ & Daughters. When I got home a friend said "The pastrami is to-die-for." Next time. Madame Tussaud's was worth the visit especially for the boys. The boys also enjoyed the Spiderman 'Broadway' show. Grimaldi's pizza near the Brooklyn Bridge provided good pizza & service but was a little like herding a lot of people in/out. I'd opt for a different pizza place if I knew a good one. The Marriott Marquis rotating restaurant was memorable for our boys. Military stop in at the USO.

The lobby area is minimal. There's no bar or dining room. Breakfast is available, though pricey. There's Internet access in a small "business" area. The location is outstanding for visitors in town for live theater and restaurant options. All Times Square area hotels are expensive, so it's hard to rate "relationship between price and quality." Having stayed at other area properties, I would say the Belvedere is a very good all-around choice.
