Mother travelling with 18yr old daughter. Excellent location, hotel is in need of refurbishment however room was clean beds were comfy with clean sheets. If you want luxury then this is not the place for you, if you want a great location and a budget hotel (save the money for shopping) then I would recommend this hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

It has been a nightmare and we booked there because central and didnt look bad from the website! (2days and half of holidays in New York). we checked in twice as the first time they gave us a room for one person. we were two. you cannot imagine the conditions of the rooms...dirty, old and dirty towels (3 in total), toilet paper left there from the previous occupiers, smelly, no windows. we woke up full of bites in our legs and we still dont know if it was for mosquitos or bugs on the bed... during the night you have the company of people yelling or fucking loudly... it is not even cheap. just stay away. it riuned our stay in NEW YORK...

I wish the hotel reservation had quoted taxes. I had to pay about $80 extra for taxes for 3 nights in the hotel. If I had known about the taxes, I still would have stayed here, but it would have been nice for planning purposes to know the actual amount I would have to pay.

It was by far one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The pictures on the website are misleading. The room was tiny and it looked like a hostel. The TV didn't work, it had a "community" ironing board in the hallway. The only good thing was that it was near to times square. I thought I was going to catch something by sleeping there. It was just my boyfriend and I and we're young, but when we walked in, we couldn't believe it. We were ready to go home the first night if it wasn't for the broadway tickets we had. I wouldn't recommend it. I would prefer to pay 1000 a night somewhere else than go back there.

I had read the previous reviews so knew what I was getting into - I chose the hotel for it's price relative to location given that I was only in NY for 2 days. There were, however, a few issues that made my stay unnececessily unpleasant: there was a toilet seat though no toilet lid; whilst the room appeared clean there was a layer of dust on everything (when the cleaner came through it even looked like dust had been swept to one side of the room); and it is incredibly noisy - a carpeted hallway could have eliminated alot of the noise that the floor tiles amplified.

We got what we payed for, it was a budget hotel. Two kingsize beds for a triple room and very little space to put our bags. A good selection of TV channels and good air-conditining. The only direct thing to complain about is the size of the towels, they were tiny. If you rather are thicker than thin, bring your own towels. The hotel is perfectly situated in midtown Manhattan, everything is more or less close.

Absolutely awful, worst hotel I have ever stayed in!. Room was dirty, as were towels (and their replacements when grumpy staff issued them). Room was very hot & air conditioner didnt work but fan turned so staff unwilling to do anything about it, it was also extremely noisy - preventing sleep. The room itself was tiny, dirty, had rusty metal fitments hanging off radiator. There was nowhere to put / hang clothes. Curtains didnt cover whole window so those in next building (a few feet away) could look straight in - had to lean my suitcase against the window. No Tea / coffee making facility. Poor tv quality, and remote wired to the wall so could only operate from one point in room. No soft lighting. Both the sink and bath plug mechanisms were faulty - at least the shower worked. Hotels has no public areas - its merely a collection of overpriced squalid rooms in a slum. Do not consider staying here - better to walk the street all night!

The room, a triple, was very small and the price was high for the accommodation. However, the place was clean and the personnel were pleasant and helpful. It was OK.

Condition of hotel room and bathroom needs a lot of repair and general decoration to bring it up to Irish hotel standards and that would be only a one star hotel. We didn't eat or drink at the hotel because I saw a cockroach in hallway on first day, Hotel were rewiring the floor and electricians were at work on Sunday mornings at nine o clock, a dog was barking (in one of the rooms)one night and a baby another night so little sleep. However it was central and the 'Port' (bus terminal) was only around the corner.

We were incredibly disapointed with the hotel. To begin with, it was rather dirty. Secondly, it was not at all appropriately, even reasonabley furnished. For example, we requested a room for three. The room came with one double "bed" and one single "bed" the beds spread wall to wall, with only about 12 inches between them. The "beds" were also unacceptable - the double bed's base was a peice of particle board on a box, and the single bed was made of three stacked single matresses. Very uncomfortable. Furthermore, the sheets smelled of mildew, which was excentuated by the poor ventilation and air conditioning (none in the bathroom). To continue with the bathroom, there was a three and a half inch diameter hole in the back of the sink. The water was very hot and the shower handel was broken. There was no air conditioning (as stated above) and the only ventilation was through the window which is about 3 feet from the adjacent building. The towels provided were very small (about 3 feet by 1.5 feet)- like hand towels. No wash cloths, no hand towels, no shampoo provided. The towels and sheets were not changed during our stay, either. The decor (although a secondary issue) is awful - nothing matches - it's a poor attempt asian-confused-home-made fusion with three differnt types of poor lighting. The hallways were cluttered as well - with extra matresses (wonder where the beds came from?) and dressers/desks/chairs. The area outside does not feel safe at night, as it is filthy, dark, and tagged with graffiti. Although the location is great - about 3 blocks from Time Square - the conditions of the hotel render the price exorbitant. It is possible to be low-budget and comforatable, but this hotel was anything but. Thanks for reading. Please see the pictures as evidence.

The hotel was really dirty. We need to buy some lingerie to can sleep in that bed. And also the bathroom was not clean. We also bought towels. However, in Manhattan is very difficult to find a decent hotel for less than 200 USD /night.

The hotel was perfectly adequate for our needs. Having a bath as well as a shower was excellent for our tired legs after a days walking and sight seeing. The location was central for the subway, empire state building, madison square garden and times square - not to mention Macys!! We found a lovely Irish bar on eighth avenue - Scruffy Duffys which served cold beer and had about seven tv screens dedicated to every american sport you can think of - so he was happy! The only down side to this hotel was that there was only one small window which didn't let any light into the room but as we were out all day it didn't make an impact on our stay.

Unlike 99.9% hotels you must pay at the check-in! This is ludicrous. So ask first an opportunity to take a look at your room booked. Towels are small sized, put a bathrobe in the bag. Luggage room is not free, $2 per bag. Empire's tickets offered at the reception are gip.
