New York city 'blew us away'. Hotel in ideal location - easy access to everything, either on foot or by subway - which we used extensively. Reception staff, while polite and efficient, could smile a little more - like those that attended to our room. Room clean and comfortable but small - not for the claustrophobic. Ask for a no-smoking room - I believe they're bigger. Old and jaded in appearance though it is, we felt it provided adequate comfort for our stay and, given its location, was good value for money.

Great deal. Excellent location. The room was just what we needed for the weekend. I totally recommend this hotel if you're looking for a place to sleep after a day of sight seeing. No unnecessary stuff, clean and a little coffee/tea and muffin for breakfast. It's perfect if you're more interested in the city than in the hotel.

At our arrival, the room was not clean. We had to show to the recepcionist the problems (in the bathroom). We moved to another room. Anyway the cleanlyness was not as expected in this rated Hotel.

Since the hotel was built in 1904, it was a bit creaky and sometimes the hot water wasn't so hot but overall our stay was great. Rooms were larger than usual and clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was wonderful. For the price, it couldn't have been better. We would definitely recommend to others and would stay there again.

We had another couple with us. Their room was quite spacious on the 11th floor street side. Ours was quite small on the 2nd floor. I would not stay in that size of room again but the rooms on the front were very nice. Stay again...yes...

Hotel room was quite large by typical NYC standards and was serviceable, though pretty rough around the edges. No feeling of being a valued customer, though I also wasn't in any way poorly treated. I would stay here again only if absolutely necessary.

It was an excellent buy since it was an introductory rate for the initial opening. The only complaint is the water pressure was weak in the shower.

The room was pretty much thought it would be. Nothing spectacular, but you get what you pay for. However, the staff and check-in were really nice. The desk guy gave us his personal umbrella when it was raining. That was really beyond what he could have done.

The room was very big and the bed was good, but there was always bad smell in the air inside the room. the breakfast was poor (only not very good muffins, coffee and tea) and we had it in the reception. the first day I found hair in the bath tube... too expensive maybe but the location was great, we could see empire state building from the window. gentle staff in the reception

One of the best bargains in NY city and ideal if you do not expect too much. Interesting location just 2 blocks from Empire State Building, close to Herald Sq subways. Neigbourhood is garment district rather lowdown but in 10 min walk you are in Madison sq. Eccellente rapporto qual prezzo ma non aspettarsi troppo. Buona location neppure troppo turistica.

4 days in NYC, this hotel has a great location, two block from Penn Station, 5th Avenue just around corner, and Macy's Store two block north (my sister really likes it). Breakfast area is very small -just several sitting on sides of hall , breakfast is simple but tasty -muffins with coffee or tea. Room was realatively small but nice.

Location is perfect. The rooms were clean enough, a very large room but a little bathroom but the whole hotel needs renovation. It is really old, carpets smell. The staff in the reception was not very welcoming. The breakfast was very poor especially if you don't like muffins.

O'Reilly's Pub is a friendly no frills Irish pub just one block west on 31st. There is real good price to quality sushi and seafood buffet on 32nd between 5th Ave and Madison. And maybe the best selling point for the Wolcott: located right between de subway crossing at Herald Sq and the 33rd station of the 6 NYC is as nearby as can be!

GREAT LOCATION!!! We were two people and we got a very big room with twin beds. Beds were a little small. Quiet clean. Nice breakfast (tea, coffee and muffins) in the lobby. Some employees speak fluent Spanish. Fifht Av., Times Square, 42th. St., Flatiron District by foot. Hotel needs deep reform, but good quality according to prices. WOULD RETURN

Although this hotel was ideally sited for our visit to New York, being close to all the sights and shops it did not represent value for money. Our bedroom was extremely cold with draughts blowing in through poorly fitted or insulated windows. We were finally moved to a warmer room after the secod evening when the hotels boiler man had a word with management at 1.30am!The bathrooms were tiny, also chilly and had seen better days.I would not recommend this hotel and will not be staying there when I next visit New York.

Close to Penn station (convenient for train takers like us!) and fairly easy access to lots of other parts of the city. Not super close to Times Square (approx. 35 mins walking, longer when the streets are very full) but quieter than that area which we appreciated. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go and only took one subway train (from the Statten Island Ferry Terminal). The hotel had a lovely lobby and the muffins for breakfast in the morning were good. The staff at the front desk did leave something to be desired, as none of them were friendly, nor did they smile at any point. The cleaning team were better. In general: nice hotel, good location, could have been a lower price but then it is NY!

Hotel Wolcott is a good place to stay when on a budget. It was clean and the employees were very nice and polite. There are no frills! Small elevators and lobby very dated. Continental breakfast consited of muffins that tasted imitation and coffee no juice if you have children. Also the bathroom was so tiny it was unbelievable. Really your knees almost touch the door and the little sink look like something out of pre-school. But....who comes to New York to stay in the room....so overall it was a good place to lay your head. I would stay again.

Located close to 5th avenue and the empire state building, but few interesting restaurants nearby. OK for friends or couple, but I would not recommend it to families. The rooms were clean enough, but the whole hotel needs renovation. Coffee and muffins in the lobby does not serve as a proper breakfast, but this was indicated on the web. The staff in the reception was not very welcoming, but the hotel has a concierge to help with tourist information and all kinds of bookings. This gave the stay a better overall rating in our opinion.

New York is an extremely expensive city and the Wolcott was a welcome "budget" find. It is happily located in Midtown, three blocks from the Empire State Building, a 5 minute walk to Macy's and the closest subway stop is only a few blocks away. We were in a twin room, which was situated on a corner of the building. Our room was three times the size of our friends who were in a double room, which is why I rated the spaciousness as I did. Although the other rooms were small, they were clean, and really, did we go to New York to sit in our rooms?? NOT!! There are free coffee and muffins in the lobby each morning, and if you don't want that, Starbucks is only a couple of blocks away as are a couple of good delis for breakfast. If I am ever in NYC again, I will stay at the Wolcott -- it was perfect and certainly didn't break the bank.

The hall is stunning. Rooms are small, but the position is the best and the price is very ok for the area. The breakfast is not an actual one, though. They have many student groups, so in the morning the hall is a mess and you don't always reach you coffee. Overall however, I would recommend the place

This hotel is excellent for anyone travelling on a budget. Whilst it is a little old-fashioned, it's beautifully decorated, warm and welcoming without being stuffy, and serves much appreciated muffins and coffee/tea in the mornings! The staff are a little hit-and-miss; some know more (and speak more English) than others, but the location is great and you're unlikely to find more for your money elsewhere in Manhattan.
