This hotel has been drawn by an old building restructured in a degraded zone, it is found in Chinatown. Our room was ugly, small, noisy, cleanings were not accurate, the connection internet works only well in the lobby, no elevator. The second evening, we have returned in room it is we have found water that came down from the ceiling. They have changed us the room with another smaller, we could not even open the baggages. I have asked that the room was changed there they have answered me that the day later they would have done him, but when I have returned to the reception they didn't know anything, the person with which I had spoken is not interested to communicate my demands to anybody. Considered that for five days we have paid more than onethousand dollars, it doesn't seem me acceptable that I can be treated with indifference and rudeness. New York is very beautiful and there is thousand of hotels, I recommend you not to allow anybody to try to ruin your vacations. You avoid this hotel.

Apart from the cleanliness of the room and pleasant attitude of the staff, this hotel does not justify the roonrate I paid. The outside of the building is scruffy and signals low quality and the neighbourhood is dwon market and very noisy.

Located near the lively area of Soho whith many nice restaurants and shops. Not as touristic as the Times Square area, but that's what we were looking for. Subway is close by and Startbuck, for breakfast, is on the way.

It was a hot night. Air conditioning was necessary. Very, very noisy--made sleeping difficult. Small room & small bathroom. A simple hairdryer would have made the stay much easier for us. Only 1 electrical outlet in the room and none in the bathroom. Liked the style and atmosphere of the hotel though.

Sohotel is a good priced clean and budget/boutique style hotel in the heart of China town. The rooms are an adequate size but not overly large. Bathrooms are clean with the exception that the hot water is only available in the morning... If your looking for a hotel in a good location really only to sleep and relax for a few hours a day - this place is great. It is in close walking distance to Soho, Nolita, Little Italy and the Lower East Side. There are a few subways in close vicinity too - with 1 only 1 block away. There is heaps of cheap food around as well.

A very nice budget hotel in a nice part of the city, just few steps from Little Italy, China Town and near to many subway stops. The room was not too spacious but very clean and very attractive, with its characteristic wall with exposed brick. There was also a large 32" flat Tv with lots of channels available. Highly recommended for people who are looking for a great price/quality hotel, I would definitely come back there in the future!

In our second week in NYC we stayed at Sohotel (7 days), so our impressions were strongly coloured by our stay at the Red Roof Inn on 32nd street for the previous 7 days. For only $100 more, total, at the Red Roof Inn, we had the most comfortable bed ever, a more spacious room - a desk, an armchair - breakfast, free newspapers and an ELEVATOR!! That three story climb at Sohotel at the end of a day of museums and subway stairs was a killer! Any external noise was masked by the sound of the air conditioner. Since we are both readers, we really missed a second reading lamp at the bedside. And the mattress was noisy - every time we sat or moved, it squeaked and groaned.

It was the first time I was coming in NYC. I do not know any other hotel of this category **. However, I thought that the hotel was expensive for what it was. The room was very small, third floor and no elevator, not very clean, walls dated (paint yellow like in an old hospital). The staff was not very welcoming. I would not come back and would not advice it. In my opinion: to avoid!

My name was in the hotel computer and there was a room for me, but they thought I wanted one night when I reserved two and charged me a little over what venere.com said I would pay. When I got to the room, I found out that there were actually two double beds instead of one, which is what I thought I would get. It was nice to have two, though, and I thought the room was spacious for New York City.

The room was perfect for what we were looking for, somewhere to put our head down and no more. Main conern was whether the bathroom was clean, no complaints there. Room was small but didn't expect a big room. The main plus for me was the district it was in, just around the corner from Little Italy so in the evening we hadn't far to walk for dinner. Main disadv was that you could hear guests leaving or returning during the night but not bad enough to not return.

The noise is terrible. Outside our windows was the area where the employees go out to smoke. Outside our room was the drink machines and you could hear the coins drop. The floors are wood and sound traveled and there is no elevator so people would go up and down the stairs which were outside our room too. We were woken up mulitply time each night. The front desk tried to help. New years eve was the worse for they allowed groups of young people to fill the rooms. Needless to say we will not stay here again

Sohotel was exactly what we needed, an inexpensive hotel (for NYC) in a good location. It was near the #6 subway which made it very convenient to everything we wanted to do. We needed a cheaper place to stay so we could spend more money on restaurants. It was also near one of our favorite breakfast spots, Balthazar. The parking was not as easy as I thought it would be. There didn't seem to be any valet activity at the hotel and so I had to find a spot in the neighborhood and pay separately. There was lots of street noise from cars and trucks. But, what can you expect for these prices in NYC. You get what you pay for and if I had wanted to spend over $500 per night, I could have had silence and an elevator. We wanted to spend money on food and not the hotel. The room was European small, which was fine by us. No room service. No mini-bar. But we didn't need those things. If you want a clean spot in a convenient location so you can spend your money on other things, this hotel is perfectly fine.

In my opinion this establishment can not be called a hotel. Not clean.Unprofessional to the extreme. Not a place to bring your family, and of course I regret bringing my girlfriend to such a place. So forget the vision of a small and simple, though clean and nice place. This is not it. I have traveled quite a lot, in Europe, America, North Africa, and this is for sure the worst place I've stayed. First we were offered a room worse than anything I've seen, not clean and more institution like than a hotel, then we changed to an other room too noisy to sleep, above a bar with lots of music and noise through the night. The third room had blood on the bed sheets just belov the pillow. We ordered airport transport to and from the hotel. The hotel managed to make a mess out of it, as they did with so many other things. This hotel leaves the general impression that it is of no importance wether the guests enjoy their stay. Not very expencive, but as I see it price can not justify staying at this hotel.

A great hotel for the price in Little Italy/Chinatown. Very clean, quiet and nicely decorated (Soho style), though the room was very small -- but this IS New York. Pleasant service, too. Be aware there is no elevator, so some schlepping is involved. But a nice touch is that they serve coffee in the lobby in the morning. The subway is only a few blocks away, and the local neighborhood is just different and fun.

Chinatown is not a great area for non-chinese people to stay in, unless all you want to do is eat chinese food. It lacks some of the conveniences and variety of other parts of the city. There is no elevator, and you must walk up a full flight of stairs just to get to the lobby. I don't think the ad mentioned this. There are no rugs in the rooms or corridors, making it very noisy. There are no curtains and there is a skylight which has no cover, so the room is brilliantly brlght, not so good for taking a nap. Privacy was not an issue, however, because there was a brick wall that came more than halfway up our one little window. The hotel has a dorm-like quality, including screaming and giggling young women coming back from a drunken evening at 5 am. There is no street parking, and the garage around the corner charged us $75 for 28 hours. I would never recommend this hotel. With tax it was $206.

The most important thing to know for the travelers it´s that there isn´t elevator, and there are 3 floors to go up. No es mal hotel,es bastante economico, aunque en una zona no del todo estupenda , por el contrario hay buena convinacion de metro y bus.la proxima vez intentare buscar un hotel en pleno soho, es lo mejor.

This hotel, even if called sohotel, is quite close to Chinatown. We were astonished when they asked us to pay the entire amount of our stay as we arrived. It had never happened to us before. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The lobby definitely has a European feel. Excellent candy at the front desk. The room was small but very clean and well kept. There was no phone in the room and the shower was small (which may not be comfortable for large guests). All amenities worked well and the beds were comfortable. We were a family of four and felt cozy but comfortable in the double room. Very quiet at night. We felt the name is a little misleading, as it felt a lot more like a Chinatown / Lower East Side location than SoHo. A VERY short walk to both of these neighborhoods. Great value for the money!

Very close to Bowery subway station, and to Broadway. Good relationship between price and quality. -------- Il soggiorno al Sohotel è stato piacevole. First room we had, the heating didn't work, water was pourring down and the plumbing made more noice than the cars outside the window (infront of wich we had to put up a blanket, so that the frozen air wouldn't get in), and when we asked for assistance, we were told, that this was the oldest hotel in NY, and therefor there was not much to do!!! After a first night nearly freezing to death, the manager finally decided to help us, and gave us another room, where the heating worked perfectly. Sadly, this room was placed on the corner of two very buissy roads, so the noice was overwelming, without earplugs, it wouldn't have been possible. All this being said, we were actually very happy about this hotel: authentic, nice, and welcomming. Recommended for those who wants to experience the real Soho NY.

I know that New York hotels are expensive in general, and the relationship between price/quality is poor in my opinion (I am Spanish), but in general I would recommend the hotel if you want a hotel cheaper than the rest and clean, because the hotel is not new but is very very clean, and the temperature is good, in spite of the weather of the street.

The hotel insisted I pay for my 3 nights stay at checkin. This is extremely unusual and wasn't expected. I nearly "lost" the room after my first night as I could only pay for one night at checkin. The fact that I had booked 3 nights via Venere was irrelevant to the hotel. No pay, no stay. I think you need to highlight this on the site.
