When we arrived they attempted to place us in a room instead of the suite that we had reserved and they had confirmed. In other words the suite that we had reserved had not been reserved and the desk clerk was a bit argumentative until my wife produced the hard copy of the pre-paid reservation/confirmation. The first night I slept very little as a result of the cracking and poping of the window air conditioner plastic. I complained the next day and they sent a person up who said nothing could be done. The desk responded when I had to tell them what their employee had concluded. They offered to move us as we were on our way out for an appointment. I declined, and fixed the problem myself......no consideration was offered or given for the incovenience. The service of the hotel has declined since we last stayed there and it is not the 1st class hotel that it was. Charging guests for a continental breakfast is tacky.

We loved this hotel. Large room, tall ceilings, lots of space. We were on the 57th Street side, though, so there was lots of street and traffic noise, even on the 9th floor. The breakfast was amazing - huge, in a lovely room, for only $4! great for NYC. I go to NYC about twice/year, so we will definitely stay here again.

We were given a really spacious room complete with kitchen, dining area & receiving room. We thought we were upgraded to a suite room, but we learned that ours was just their regular room. Hotel location is great. It's in the city center. Many restaurants to choose from within the block. The only thing I did not like is their breakfast. For a heavy breakfast eater like me, bagels & cereals are not enough. Excellent value for money.

This hotel was good value for the price. The decor is a little tired, but it is an old hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean. The location is perfect for getting around the city. The only complaint we have is that my reservation confirmed a King bed, and we received two doubles. Other than that, considering we were only in the hotel to sleep, it was a very good place to stay.

If you want value for money and a great location then the Salisbury is for you..We were expecting a tiny room but there were 2 double beds in our room for 2 people and it was cleaned everyday..staff were a bit stand-offish but the free breakfast made up for it!

I loved the location and it was better than anticipated. The price was great, compared with other similar hotels. The rooms are dated but not important to me. I only stayed a weekend but plan to return if the price stays competitive.
