We stayed 5 nights and found the San Carlos to be well located with a very friendly staff, spacious rooms (for NYC) and very well maintained. Two conveniences at the San Carlos saved us a lot of money: a nicely done (included) continental breakfast and in-room refridgerator/microwave. The larger suites would be perfect for a family. We will definitely stay here again!

I was on a surprise visit to New York for my wife's 50th and was travelling with my 2 20 yr old kids and my inlaws, both in their early eighties. I was after a quality hotel at an affordable price and I was not disappointed. We shared a twin double room and the inlaws had a king size. Both rooms were big even by European standards Everything about the San Carlos was as good as I'd hoped. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the concierge who made us feel welcome from first arrival. The free breakfast was a bonus, mainly bread and pastries but very popular with the guests. I'll definitely use the San Carlos again.

Back for a weekend visit, this was by far the best value hotel we've stayed in so far - clean, centrally located on the east side, big rooms, friendly and accommodating staff - would absolutely return to this property.

I am aware that NYC is very expensive, so in that respect the rates at San Carlos did not surprise me. While I really do not have anything to complain, I think for that prise I expected a bit more about the room, the breakfast, the gym etc. It is a nice hotel and a great location.

First time visitors to New York.Location is excellent,5 minutes walk from the main shopping area of 5th Avenue.Subway station nearby.Staff courteous and helpful.Very good value and substantial continental breakfast included in the price.Rooms very clean and well serviced. Only negative is that there are no rooms available with a double and 2 single beds.We were a family of 4 with 2 teenagers(1 boy,1 girl).

Hotel San Carlos was very nice, staff were very helpful. Location was great, just 15mins walk from Times Square. Impossible to have a room with a view as you always seem to be facing another tall building. Our deluxe room was lovely, but the rooms seem to be quite dark because of the surrounding tall buildings! It was great to have breakfast included, but there are lots of places to eat in the area. The only drawback was the taxes added on to the bill, taxes added approx 16% on top of the price quoted. I would return to this hotel in future.

I travel to NYC 4 to 5 times per year. Excellent location. Immaculate rooms. Exacting and attentive service. Only glitch was the "upgrade" to a junior suite resulted in 1 less bed (room with 2 beds as reserved were unavailable) substituted with sleeper sofa, but it worked out well enough for our travel plans and room was extremely spacious for 3 travelers. Would stay here again.

Our first time in New York and we were impressed by the exceptionally warm welcome at check-in. The hotel was exceptionally good and the staff more than helpful especially the Concierge who gave us quite a few tips about getting around etc. Location of the hotel was perfect for us and free access to Internet was a real bonus for keeping in touch with family back home. Would definately recommend this hotel to family and friends and would have no hesitation in returning to the San Carlos sometime in the future.

Il personale è disponibilissimo e gentile. Unico neo, come peraltro già segnalato,la rumorosità di un impianto di condizionamento di un palazzo vicino, se si ha la sfortuna di capitare in quell'ala dell'edificio.

A perfect 10!Yes that's what it was and the excellent rate obtained through Venere was the icing on the cake!Highly recommended hotel- already booking in for my next stay.Hotel continental breakfast was substantial and very tasty-if you're looking for an authentic NYC breakfast experience go to John's at corner of East 44th Street &2nd Av. The walk will whet ur appetite - from the hotel walk 2 blocks East and 6 blocks south. Do the UN building tour after- amazing!

From the moment we arrived we were more than delighted with this hotel and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. The staff were friendly, welcoming and more helpful than we have ever experienced before in New York. The only 'downer' on the stay was that our room which was on the 15th floor towards the rear could not completely exclude the hum from a ventilator fan in another building across the way.... but it didn't stop us sleeping in our fantastic de luxe beds, and after all this is New York... the city that never sleeps! We had two minor issues with the plumbing that were attended to within minutes of our approaching the reception desk to report them. All in all a brilliant hotel. We wont stay anywhere else on future trips to New York.

Our trip to NYC was greatly enhanced by our stay in this hotel. An immaculate entrance lobby, exceptionally polite and helpful doorstaff made a welcoming and longlasting impression. The high standard of facilities provided both within and outwith the room (microwave and safe deposit in room, continental breakfast and free internet access) were a real boost. It is a great base from which to explore a vibrant city.
