In this period of november, this was a very nice place to stay. Surroundigs are very quiet and charming, room is simple but nice, a bit old but charming. In low period, easy access to share bathroom. An adress we keep.

7 night stay and had 3 mornings with no hot water, I don't expect much from a cheap hotel room but hot water and quietness is expected. The doors have no padding around them so you hear every door being unlocked and closed and if you end up next to one that's had visitors its 20+ door slams over 1 hr at 12:30 in the morning. The location is great and convenient but I wouldn't go back.

100 usd per night for a very litlle bedroom. But I think that it is the same price everywhere in Manhattan. The hotel is not very modern or charming but it is quiet and relatively clean. Environnement is quiet and secure too.

Anyone, please, AVOID this place by any means!!! I am used to budget accommodations but this place was simply a nightmare. In fact, I wanted to leave it as soon as I saw it but was told that I would have to pay a full price for an entire stay anyhow, hence stayed. I booked a single room in "hotel" section (as compared with hostel) but it was terrible. Very small, very dirty and horrible smell. Had to use a common bathroom which was another terrible experience. Common areas (stairways, corridor and elevator) were also awfully dirty. Moreover, there was a lot of weird characters in the building, so was entirely scary. The worst thing was that upon the arrival, I had to sign a paper stating that the hotel takes no responsibility for anything left in the rooms (sic!!) so another scary thing. I would not recommend this place to anyone, not even to the worst enemy!

In comparison to other hotels of similar pricerange this hotel unfortunately is very poor. Electricity hanging out of the wall, bedsheets that have seen there days long ago amongst other details make it an experience, I had encountered only in very low level youthhostels in the 80th.

It was horrible! My friend and I wanted to stay at this "Hotel" for 6 nights, we had to escape after 2 hours of staying there. It was very dirty, loud and we had the feeling that it was more a red light district hotel than a normal hotel. the beds were covered with the "leftovers" from some people "sleeping" there. When we wanted to change the room, there was a worm in our bed (!!!). the matraces were covered in plastic like in a whorehouse. After all, we had to change the hotel and found a much much nicer one.

When we arrived to the hotel we were worried to what we were going to find because of other guests comments from internet. But luckily we were happy because the room was very good and the bathroom we had to share was clean. The problem arrived when we came back at night and wanted to take a shower. The shared bathroom had the bath tub full of soap and other people´s hair, very dirty. That day we said nothing about it but could not take a shower hoping next day wolud be different. The second day the same thing happened , so I asked in front desk if somebody could clean it, supposing that in a hotel in which you have to share a bathroom there would be some person in charge of cleaning all the time. They answered me that yes they would send someone to clean it, but nobody appeared and it was still dirty till the next day we were leaving. So I really was very upset because U$S 466 (taxes included) is too much money to pay and not even can take a shower one day.

In a small doublebedded room it was acceptably clean, quiet, and comfortable. The bed was made with fresh sheets daily, and new towels and soap were provided daily. The only quibble was that on Veneers print-out it stated that the fee is to be paid when checking out. The hotel insisted that we paid immediately on checking in.

Common areas are filthy, run-down, stink of curries. Hotel shares building with strange permanent tennants with radios blasting. Advertisment is totally misleading.

the cheapest hotel i found in manhattan (115$ per night per single room taxes included). room is ok, but common areas are very poor. shared bathrooms are clean but not welcoming. if you just need a place to sleep is ok, otherwise you may consider to choose going somewhere else. location is good, 5 minutes walk from lincoln center.

It was ours first trip in NY. The Hotel is quiet, mybe a little bit creepy, but it's a good one. We shared the bathrooms, but they were always cleaned! The neighborhood is beautiful and safe! The subway is really close. And the relationship beetween price and quality is excellent!!

My rating may seem severe, but the room was really very bad. Very, very small, smelly and run down. Only in the morning did I realize that the heater was broken and in fact leaking. The carpet was soaked with water in an area of 1 meter diameter. My bags got wet because of this. When I told the receptionist he didn't care. Don't go there. Or at least not for 100$.

Okay for a youth hostel, but gruesome for anyone with any higher expectation than that. Bring flipflops for the shower and don't use the sink.

The room was a hole, it seemed a cell of jail. Very cold. I have found a cockroach that walked on the wall. Cold reception. Price too high in respect to how much offered. Good zone, near to Strawberry Field in Central Park.

This not an hotel. Just an area where you can sleep, no more. I don't understand how they can sale this kind of prestation as an hotel. I recommand to Venere to visit it before propose this kind of hotel.

A very run down place; poor insulation standards (window does neither open nor close properly); apart from fridge and TV with limited set of channels, no facilities at all in the room (not even a wash basin). The helpfull and efficient staff and the neighbourhood are the only assets of this place. Price is low, but value too.

the room itself was clean, also the sheets were clean; but there was a bad smell all over the corridor (mix of tobaggo and old dirty building)and the toilets and shower were not inviting at all. It was very noisy aswell.the hotel needs a huge renovation.

Location, location!!!This beautiful, convenient area on the upper west side is fantastic--a few minutes walk to the riverside park for a morning jog or coffee on the pier, close to express subway,Lincoln Center, etc. The hotel itself is not too impressive for the price, but it IS Manhattan.Clean, safe, friendly, and the elevator works.

Carpets were dirty, the place smelt, facilities very basic - very much the bottom end of the market. But reasonable value for Upper West Side.

After we got over the shock of the VERY no-frills aged appearance of the hotel and the fact that there were a lot of funky things like peeling paint in the bathroom, wires hanging out in the room and different colors of paint (within the same spot) in about 47 layers, including covering some old doorbell on the inside of our room, we decided it was not as bad as we first thought. Really! Our initial impression was that something was going to come crawling out or that we'd hear the people in the neighboring room breathing, but none of that was the case. It was actually quite clean and very quiet, just old and not rennovated or updated, so it doesn't make a very good first impression. But it was very functional - don't expect anything even remotely fancy. You share a bathroom in the hall with up to 3 other rooms, but this was never an issue as there are lots of bathrooms to choose from. We had a double room with a sink in our room. The lighting wasn't very good. The building is in an extremely quiet location as it's at the end of a dead-end block in a great neighborhood. Parking isn't very good, however, it's NYC street parking in a residential neighborhood. Which basically means you're on your own to find parking. Don't leave anything in the car. We went to a coffee shop/diner type of restaurant just 2 blocks away for breakfast on the SE corner of West End Ave. and 72nd St. It was very normal, not exciting, but perfect for breakfast. Just a few blocks further, over on Amsterdam, Broadway and Columbus, there are lots of restaurants and shops and you're actually in the heart of the Upper West Side of NYC - a great place to be. Getting around on public transportation was easy. The subway was only 3 blocks away. It's a major line running up and down the West side of the city, and you can get connections to go in all other directions somewhere along the line, and busses run up and down all the avenues. Be prepared to walk a lot in this city.

It was a great place for those who like it quiet and simple. Adress is pretty simple, altough I, by mistake, went to the central park side and had to walk a block or two. I surely recommend it to others. Times Square and Central Park are both very close.

I was very dissapointed with my stay. I will never choose this hotel again. The website for the hotel is misleading. I don't think it says anywhere on there that you will be sharing your bathroom with everyone on your hall. The hallways were extremely hot and the elevator barely worked. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone else.

The hotel was farther west than I anticipated, but the location was still good. The facilites were really basic; the people at the desk were, however, extremely nice and accommodating. I felt as if I were renting a room in a building that was (is?) a single resident occupancy.

hotel is ok for budget travellers the toilet & shower facilities need refurbishment but the hotel is on Upper West side close to riverside walk, subway & central park.Don't expect 4/5 star facilities because you get what you pay for. Perfectly adequate as a place to sleep
