Hotel Mondrian Soho - Manhattan, New York

I loved Hotel Mondrian Soho! We stayed 5 nights and we loved the location. American Eagle did the" favour" of losing one of our bags so when we got to the hotel it was later then we expected and without one of our bags. The front desk person was very nice and provided us some complimentary drinks for us " to relax from that stress"- any drink from the bar! That was a nice touch! When we got to the bar/restaurant (that is amasing!!!) kitchen was closed but the waitress was really nice and managed to serve us some food from the room service there, at the bar. According to my husband , he ate the best grilled cheese ever. Yes, there is the matter of the bathroom. The lack of privacy. But honestly, it's managable. Don't forget to have a look at the galery next door - The Wild Horses of Sable Island and there's also a wonderful furniture shop, and Balthazar a couple of blocks on Spring, and Uniqlo and all the shops very near. Try the Kittichai restaurant also at walking distance. Really good. Expensive but worth it. And fridays and saturdays is " party time" at the hotel bar. But nothing that bothers the guests. The only "but" would be the waiters at the restaurant, not at the bar. The restaurant food is really good but the waiters don't pay attention to you. And when they did they just talked to my husband, they don't even look at me. We were on vacation, I was in a good mood , so it was kind of funny, but I don't think everyone ( or even me in another mood...) would find that funny. The waiters all disappeared at the same time leaving the restaurant alone. Because of this treatment we only had dinner there once. A pitty, because the food was really tasty. My fifteen year old daughter wants to go to NY next year and we will definately check and see if Mondrian is available at the time. There was a lot of french people and businessman as guests. I wouldn't recommend to mature people. The hotel is "young" and the atmosphere is modern and trendy.
