One of the finest properties I have ever stayed. Great location, competent and knowledgable service, especially the concierge, and wonderful amenities. The rooftop bar was exceptional in every way. Quiet with personalized service. Hard to find anywhere, but in NY in December? Just outstanding!

Hotel Library met my high expectations except that the room was a bit small for two people travelling with two large suitcases. The staff were very welcoming, service-minded and effecient. We enjoyed staying there and would do so again.

We greatly appreciated just about everything about this hotel during our three nights stay there in July! Courteous and welcoming staff, cosy rooms with books on art (we got a room on The Arts floor), spacious bathroom with the amenities one expects in a hotel like this. Great Midtown location! Neat library-like breakfast room with a view, well assorted breakfast menu, a selection of free newspapers, TimeOut New York etc, and even with a grand piano in one corner! And don't miss out the free cheese and wine in the evenings! In short: a place to come back to!

Excellent hotel. We were given two upgrades on our room, upon arrival. Very spacious room given, with very modern clean bathroom. Very comfortable bed, good quality linen. Breakfast self service, with very good choice, staff couldn't do enough for you.The reading room was open all day with free refreshments, cookies and fresh fruit. The wine and cheese tasting in the evening was a lovely touch. The only downside to the hotel,is the noise from the traffic on Madison Ave, depending on where your bedroom is located. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again

Stayed in a King-size bed room and it was very nice but sometimes noisy from both the street as well from hotel doors slamming. The front desk was great and all there recommendations was top class! The generosity that the hotel gives is very rarely to find in hotels nowadays. One of the better hotels in NYC including the high-end ones.

Having visited New York numerous times, and stayed at a variety of hotels over the years, this was our second stay at The Library Hotel, and we found it as memorable as the first. It is in an ideal location regardless of whether you are a first time or frequent visitor to New York. The size of this hotel ensures you always feel like a guest rather than a room number. The food provided at breakfast & early evening,is beautifully presented and of an excellent quality. The staff who are on hand to replenish supplies, toast bagels or open another bottle of wine are especially helpful and accomodating. All in all, this is a thoughly well run establishment which we feel is aimed at a sophisticated traveller, who can see beyond the lure of the so called "large/famous/formal/grand/" tourist hotels. This is an ideal hotel for couples, but would also be suitable for single women who could enjoy the evening ambience without feeling intimidated.

We stayed here for 3 days on the way home from LA. Very warm welcome after long flight and complimentary early check in (about 8 am). The room was very clean, but little bit small. As I see its NY-special)) Library staff were very helpful and friendly, Reception staff provided us information about city, restaurants etc. And all the recommendations were exactly we needed. We loved the design ideas - every floor is named as the library section, every room has the subject. We stayed in Money room - all books in the room were about money. Library hotel is peaceful and relaxing place in the very heart of Manhattan.

I stayed on the 6th floor. You can open the windows completely, quite uncommon for the U.S. All rooms are individually equipped with books for a dedicated topic (e.g. architecture, medicine etc.). As this hotel is located in the city centre, it is not quiet, but this is obvious if you stay in Manhattan. My room was very clean, as it was cleaned 2x a day. In general, I can recommend the hotel and will certainly come back personally.

The location is great. The staff helpful and friendly. Rooms are cleaned properly. The heating system is a bit off, but that's ok. Breakfast is good and it is so convenient that I can get a cup of tea any time. Room service food was good. I would definitely stay there again if I go back to NYC.

I spent four nights in the Library Hotel with my 18 year-old daughter just before Christmas. I managed to reduce the cost of the accomodation by one third after the original booking (in August) by keeping an eye on their website and phoning whenever the price went down. The hotel confirmed each reduction by email. The room (a Queen deluxe) was small, more a parisian size, but adequate and comfortable. The library theme was fun even if we did not have any time for reading and the atmosphere at the hotel was friendly, informal and efficient - perfect; so different from other US hotels which can be very formulaic. We particularly liked the coffee, juice and biscuits that were available at all times in the communal area and the wine and nibbles in the evening. The noise in our bedroom from the street was loud but this was Madison Avenue!

We loved staying at the Library Hotel. We felt it was expensive but worth it, especially for location (Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Station were all within easy walking distance i.e. possible to walk comfortably in heels! Empire State Building and Central Park were only about 15 mins walk away also) Very relaxed ambience to hotel and helpful concierges. Loved New York and loved the Library!

This is a great oasis and it felt wonderful to arrive and have all services such as wine, cheese, fruit , coffee provided. It was lovely not to continually be spending money once we arrived so we could begin to relax. It was a very well located hotel and impeccably clean. I would definitely stay here again and very much enjoyed my trip. Staff were very friendly and helpful with a real emphasis on customer service.

My husband and I stayed at the Library on a week long visit to celebrate a milestone birthday. We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay and cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and reasonably spacious. Breakfast was fabulous (if a little busy at times). Having access to the Reading Room throughout the day for tea/coffee/danishes and in the evening for wine/cheese was a real bonus. The hotel very kindly provided complimentary sparkling wine in our room for my husband's birthday. The hotel location is extremely convenient - close to the sights in midtown and one block from subway stations at Grand Central Station and the New York Public Library. We would definitely choose this hotel on any subsequent visit to New York.

When you’re looking for a hotel in New York, you’re rather spoilt for choice. The range can be mind bogglingly confusing and first-time or just occasional visitors might feel just a trifle overwhelmed. Well here’s a tip. If you are looking for something slightly different, and are prepared to dig a little bit deeper into you pockets to treat yourself and your family, consider booking a couple of nights at the Library hotel.

Having been to New York a number of times, The Library is by far the best hotel we have stayed in. It was chosen on the basis of the photos & description of its facilities on the website. On arrival these lived up to & throughout our 5 night stay, exceeded our expectations. It's rooms are extremely well appointed & comfortable, the staff helpful without being overbearing, and the quality & quantity of the food provided at breakfast - through to cheese & wine in the evening -superb. An excellent choice for any visitors wanting a central location in Manhattan.

An absolutely fantastic hotel, superb staff, very welcoming & helpful (particularly Peter at front desk) rooms are tight for space - but it is a boutique hotel so more than adequate. Very peaceful atmosphere around the hotel, you wouldn't think you were on Madison Avenue!! I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Well positioned hotel. Good continental breakfast, all day coffee, tea and pastries in lounge. Free wine and cheese each evening in lounge. Rooms a little on the small side and less imaginitive than I expected. Nice staff. Additional taxes are always a drag at check-out time in the States. Good value for New York, would recommend it.
