After a long flight,I arrived at the Hudson, exhausted and lay on the bed and promptly fell asleep. I woke up and went straight to the bathroom. NOT A BIT OF TOILET PAPER anywhere. This was after midnight, but I called downstairs and a MAN came within 20 minutes. I fell back asleep and woke up about 3AM. All the lights were on. I spent the next half hour trying to find the switch for the light behind the bed. NOTHING. Once again, I had to call downstairs. I am now really really tired and its 3:20AM.I was told to pull the sash on the headboard.NO SASH! So someone had to come up...15minutes later. He acknowledged that there was no sash and whatever it was to be attached to was gone also. He made a temporary correction and promised that the problem would be corrected in the morning. It was already 3:48AM. the next day, I went about my business..quite tired. Arrived back in the room about 8..NO SASH! but a little chain, less than 1/8 of an inch was behind the headboard. It worked. I didn't complain because I was leaving the next morning and I wanted to get a full nights sleep. For the money, there should have been toilet paper in the room when I arrived and all lights should have been able to be turned off easily. Not a good stay!

The 5th floor hall was oppressive. It looked like a gay bath house! Who decorated that?

Overall enjoyed our one night stay (2 adults) but not really a 4 star hotel as advertised. Staff was helpful and friendly. Bell staff for checking baggage were not present although desk quickly hunted them down and they were quick and helpful after that. Not enough elevators for quantity of guests. Long waits, full elevators (only 3 working out of 6 or so). Rooms dark and small by American standards need more lighting- more like Europe with just enough room around a double bed to walk and if you put a suitcase beside the bed you could not pass. Very loud air conditioner and worse, extremely loud noise from street, especially sirens heard most of night (even on 14th floor). Clever storage closet with shelves, small refrigerator and safe all pluses. Bath modern and up to date with no counter space. Hip garden bar off of lobby is bustling with many young people.

The rooms are extremely small. When I checked in the hotel clerk said she was going to upgrade my room to a queen suite. It was still extremely small. Also it is very hard to control the heat and airconditioning. It is in a great location though for when I visit my daughter at college.

We had many problems. Initial room too small. 1st room got flooded during the night, changed to another size, it was flooded also due to a leak, changed to still another, finally on the fourth day and our fourth room we could get a twin bed room we wanted. Our friends changed four times also, second room had a guest inside when they entered, third room an unbearable tobacco smell, fourth room finally twin bed OK. Fortunately we managed to not get charged all upgrades due to the inconveniences. Help at concierge desk with reservations, indications very good. Staff at front desk overall correct. Lobby, restaurant, library decoration, etc, impressive. Mos likely we will not stay at Hudson on our next visit.
