This hotel is ideally situated for the heart of Times Square and is easy for any location. It is a basic hotel but our room was ok and clean, and was changed after day 2 and fresh towels when needed. Being as though you only use the room to sleep and showere it was very suitable.

The hotel was as expected for the price. Old but fairly clean and comfortable. My only suggestion is to consider taking your own towel if you have room in your luggage. The hotel staff were fine but the tour desk staff were not helpful and not knowledgeable. They will try to push you to buy tickets to the orange tour bus 'skyline' but the other tour bus companies are much better, go with one that has a live guide and frequent buses instead. .

It's not a luxury hotel, but have the minimum conditions. If you need a hotel just to sleep at the center of NYC it's perfect, have a perfect location at 30 seconds to Times Square".

When I got there there was no one to help me with my luggage, so I used a long time to lift my heavy suitcases up the stairs by myself. The girl that checked me in was rather rude, and did not give me information about anything at all. A young asian girl. My room was falling apart; loose doornobs, difficulty closing the doors, and the showerspray went to the sides instead of at your body, so you barely got any water on you and the floor got very wet even with the shower curtain. There were no showertowels, only towels that were a little bigger than a handtowel. You could hear your neighbours flush their toilet. The housekeepers started way too early, going back and forth on the hall and making noise. The airport shuttle was 25 minutes late, and all the staff could do was stand in the streets just as clueless as us that were waiting. I'm sorry but my stay at Hotel Carter was a very bad one.

It's NY city! So the rooms are going to be loud. We brought a fan for white notice. Location was incredible! We went to see Aladdin and had a 3 minute walk! For the price, excellent stay if you are planning on just using it as a place to sleep. Beds and pillows exceptionally comfy! Will stay there again! Close to the trains and you are right in Times Square!! If you are someone that needs pomp and circumstance, don't stay here. Felt very safe as a female party of 3 also! Enjoy your stay,,

Stayed for 3 nights in March 2014. It's as casual and somewhat 'rundown' as every other review says... Our main concern was bed bugs and other such critters... And much to our relief there were none! Just lucky!?! or they've cleaned up their act!?! We'd probably go back

It was OK! we were 3 and needed the place to crash at night... if you are going with your family and kids maybe is not the best option, but if you are looking for some place just to sleep and have fun with friends thats OK. the internet is kinda of expensive and only lets you add 2 devices at the same time with the same User... so if you have more than 2 wifi devices youll be pissed about it but you can manage hehe

Old hotel needs refurbishing, however the cost of room in central location more than compensates for this. Staff mostly courteous & helpful. Although room drab and old furnishings sheets & towels were changed every day if required, reception provided toiletries if required (free). I stayed their in June so the weather was pretty warm, Air con worked but was noisy. Would i recommend this hotel definitely anyone wanting a cheap room located in the Theatre district of Manhatten value for money 10 out of 10

The main advantage of this hotel it's the location. Staying in times square for this price if you are not peeky about confort, small rooms with almost no space for luggage or walking around the beds, strange odors, rickty beds and basins, leeking toilets or moldy bathrooms and poor noise isolation, then this is the place to choose. Also we noticed that the first 3 or 4 floors were recently renovated, we could see it when the lifts stoped for clients, so maybe here these conditions would be a bit better, but how to get rooms on those was information that was not given when booking, and maybe the prices would be different or not available through internet booking?

Our room overall was nice and clean. We asked for a renovated room on the 20th floor (room 2029). The view was OK (on the sign of Madame Tussaud. It has a big walking closet, small bathroom. Rooms are cleaned every second day but you can asked for extra towels and cushions. TV is bit poor because signal fails often. Regarding the "horror" stories on the review sites this Hotel (specially the renovated floors) is good value for money. I would recommend this hotel to friends specially for its brilliant location in downtown NYC. Its a 1 to 2 star hotels with no frills

The hotel location is just perfect. Only a few steps away from the Times Square. Close to subway, 5th - 6th - 7th ave.s. I was able to reach all the importatnt districts by foot. The hotel price was reasonable. Concierge service was satisfaying. But the hotel room was so old. Air conditioning was not effective and making noise a lot. I stayed 3 days. My room was never cleaned or towels changed. The food and beverage shop at the hotel entrance is so expensive and the food is bad. Just buy drinks if you need to.

Hotel Carter is more like a hostel for backpackers than a hotel. However, that doesn't mean that it's all backpackers - far from! The hotel hosts lots of different people from everywhere in the world. It's a good deal for the prize. Really you're only at the hotel during the night for sleep anyway, so it doesn't matter it's a little dirty and worn down. Occasion = Holiday!
