We found this hotel terrible. The staff were rude, unfriendly and uncompromising. We had requested a taxi pick up from the airport but had received no confirmation or reply from the hotel and therefore made our own way to the hotel. We had not even got through the doors when we were greeted with 'We sent a car for you. WHY did you make your own way here?' in a very accusing manner. We were then asked to wait for 1.5 hours for our room to be ready. To add insult to injury the hotel then demanded that we pay for their taxi - there was no way we were going to do this. We felt the price quoted for the hotel was well over priced for what it was - the pool area was dirty, old furniture and no staff were around to help. The staff over all were surly and rude. We had booked our final night of the round trip here but cancelled it immediately and stayed in the shangri la instead - which was just 3000 rp more which we incidentally had a much more enjoyable stay in. I will be putting my comments on trip advisor re this hotel as I have never had my integrity questioned over a taxi fare (they insisted they had confirmed the taxi pick up by email and the most certainly had not). It also does make me question future bookings with Venere I'm afraid.

By pulling the room key out of the slot, the A/C switches into "on". After retourning into the room it is cooled down like inside a fridge. This is not only a complete unnecessarily waste of energy, it is also bad for health. I travel a lot in Asia. In every hotel the A/C turns into "off" when removing the key. In our case the staff has been very helpful to provide another key to leave inside the slot.

I stayed at this hotel for business and also visited the Taj Palace, ITC Muyari, and Crown hotels in the same visit - all so called 5 star hotels. The ITC was by far the nicest hotel in terms of services, features and ambience. Next was the Taj Palace, followed by the Crown and finally the Metropolitan. The Metropolitan is more like a four star hotel than a 5 star hotel, mainly based upon the facilities offered. For the price you can stay in one of the other 5 star hotels and have get better value for money.
