Three star hotel with a very affordable price. Close to the public transportation (trains, Circumvesuviana, Alibus) and 10 minutes walking distance to main attractions. Negative sides: room floor (hairballs everywhere) and poor breakfast. Positive sides: helpful staff, great restaurant next door with some discount. Would I stay here again ? Probably yes.

My daughter and I used this room as a drop off. We landed in Napoli before heading to sicily on night train. The dangerousness of the neighbor hood and the inability to get a taxi to drop off and pick up I front of hotel due to construction was very anxiety producing. Clean but we did not sleep there. I guess that is why it was only $49.

Very central position of hotel, next to station. No flexibility with earlier breakfast. No great help with buses (time table) to airport.

It was our first time at Hotel POtenza, clean and quite spacious room, simple breakfast. The staff was very polite and helpful, especially because I had the chance to leave my luggage at the reception after the checkout for free, and came back after some hours to pick it up and leave. The position is good, the bad aspect is that outside there was lot of noise especially during the night...but definitely goog relationship between price and quality!

My friends and I stayed at Hotel Potenza during a brief visit to Naples and the surrounding area. While Naples itself is a city I won't return to, the Hotel Potenza was exceptional for the price. Clean room, clean lobby, and helpful staff. Would highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Potenza. Proximity to the central train station was an enormous plus. The hotel was real find -- a very welcoming atmosphere created by the personal attention of the staff and a bargain at literally half the price of the nearby Ramada. Our desk clerk was exceptionally helpful, proving us with useful information regarding Naples and local sites in general. We would definitely stay there again. REM

The location, close to Napoli Centrale, couldn't be more convenient. We were initially concerned about the construction on Piazza Garibaldi, especially since our room was facing the piazza. However, the windows are double-paned and kept out noises very well. There is no lift. The breakfast consisted of yogurt, cheese, cold cuts, and bread.

Hotel Potenza is very close to Naples Main Train Station and on the left of Garibaldi Piazza as your back is to the train station; a 3 minute walk. I have stayed at this hotel previously, December 2008, and chose it again in 2010 for its convenience to international train, Metro train, Circumvesuviana train (for Sorrento, Pompeii and Ercolana) and local suburban buses. Everyone will be greatly helped when the major construction work in Garibaldi Piazza is completed; still in progress in 2010 and not much top show ro work since 2008. The hotel cannot help these poor surroundings, but it means there is a downgraded appearance. Hotel Potenza represents value for money with adequate breakfasts of a variety of cereals, cold meats, youghurt, pastries and fruit. Coffee, tea of course.

My third stay at the Potenza and again only an overnight while in transit. The room was adequate, near the train station, and a decent price. Breakfast included... but they were out of most things by the time I made it to the buffet counter. The Iris restaurant below the hotel is a value.

My second stay at the Potenza... although only for one night this time while in transit from Calabria back to Genova. The single room was quite large for Italy. Very clean. With a discount at the Iris restaurant below the hotel... and easy walking distance from the train station... it was the perfect hotel for a short stay.

good rate price/quality. located 3 minutes from central station/circumvesuviana railway and from the beginning of corso umberto I. 10% off if you eat at the iris restaurant (same property, ground floor, regional meals/pizzas, very good). a bit of noise because rooms are in front of garibaldi square, at the 1st floor. definitively a good choice if you want to tour naples, but not if you have some difficult in falling asleep.

The room was nice and clean. The bathroom was quite large for Italy. It was a no smoking hotel, but I woke up in middle of night because of the smell of cigarette smoke filling my room. I had to open all the windows to get some fresh air and I can only guess it drifted up from the front desk where they were smoking when I passed by. Major construction in front of hotel so make sure your room is not over the main street in front. My room was pretty quiet, #28. Didn't speak much English at front desk, so brush up on your Italian. Forgot to give me back my passport as I left. I should have remembered, but I was in a rush and had to travel an hour back to hotel to retrieve it.

No lift, reception is a half flight up and rooms are another full flight. Lots of construction for the metro line in the plaza in front of the hotel. A taxi will only be able to get you within a half block. Room was very large and clean. Air conditioning worked well. Had a room facing the courtyard but late night TV and a barking dog came through the wall from a residence adjacent to my room, not another hotel room. Air Con and all lights and outlets go off when you leave the room remove the special key, so if you want to leave batteries charging while you you'll have to use something like a Palm stylis to bypass. Very close to the train station, lots of unsavoury street vendors outside.

THIS HOTEL IS CLOSE TO THE TRAIN, BUS, METRO, AND TAXI STANDS ALL WITHIN 5 MINUTES WALK. THERE ARE 2 RESTAURANTS IN FRONT, AS WELL AS A FEW BARS. THE SECURITY WAS EXCELLENT (I WAS APPROACHED BOTH TIMES I WALKED INTO HOTEL AND DID NOT HAVE POSSESSION OF ROOM KEY). THE ROOMS HAVE JUST BEEN REMODELED, AND WERE EXCELLENT, VERY SPACIOUS, COLORFUL, AND QUIET. THIS WAS THE NICEST HOTEL OF MY 3 WEEKS STAY IN ITALY THIS YEAR I WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS HOTEL. THE ONLY NEGATIVES ARE THE STREET AREA IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND APPEARS TO BE LITTERED AT NO TIME DID I FEEL UNSAFE NIGHT OR DAY STAYED 5 NIGHTS

I am an elderly woman and stayed by myself at the Potenza Hotel on my way from Ischia to airport Napoli. Even though it is very near the railway station I felt very safe. The room was spacious and very quiet. Bathroom clean with a lot of towels. I did not take breakfast as I was leaving before 07.a.m.

Good hotel. Right on the square with the train station (but not close to tracks). Bathroom in room. Good place to eat downstairs. Breakfast area was right outside our room though. Make sure when you reserve to ask for a room away from this area. It is OK if you are an early riser, but if you plan to sleep in it is hard b/c of those eating outside your door.

This is an excellent hotel to stay at. Despite its proximity to the station, it is so quiet and I was surprised by how luxurious it was. I was extremely comfortable. There were other single women in the hotel and it is to be recommended to single travellers as we felt safe here.

A great stay with a few hitches. They are constructing a new bus terminal in front of the hotel so the area is a mess. The hotel is lovely, but they had hot water problems while we there and showers were often cold. Upon arrival, we asked about ferries to Capri and were told we could only go by restaurant launch. Since I had been there before, I knew that was not the case. Things did improve. Carmine came on at 3 and was a god send for our entire stay. He helped us with transportation and restaurants. A gem of an employee!!! Location is great, near both train stations and the major bus lines. I would go back just for Carmine.

i was really pleased with this hotel. it was recently renovated, so it is clean and nicely furnished. the location is only a few blocks from the napoli centrale train station. the neighborhood is very busy and chaotic, that's typical of naples. you need to be careful late at night, but i didn't have any problems. the hotel was also located near the port of napoli beverello where you can reach the islands of ischia, procida, & capri. the staff was friendly and courteous. i would definately lodge at this hotel again.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant attached to the hotel was good value for money and the food was fantastic. We were offered 10% discount as we stayed in the hotel. My only one complaint would be the noise levels. The walls were very thin and we could clearly here our neighbours. The bonus was that our room was not onto the main square so the noise outside the hotel was minimal. Overall, not a bad place to stay and good location being so central for stations etc.

I WON'T STAY OR LET ANYBODY ELSE STAY IN THIS PLACE. THEY HAD AIR CONDITIONING HOURS AND THEY TURNED OFF THE A/C FROM MIDNIGHT UNTIL 0800 NEXT DAY. I'M A SICK PERSON WITH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND DIABETIS AND THAT WAS THE WORST NIGHT I EVER HAD. I'M IN THE NAVY AND I JUST WANTED A GOOD NIGHT OF SLEEP AFTER BEEN WORKING SO HARD FOR A MONTH AND INSTEAD I HAD A NIGHT OF SLEEP ALONG WITH ANOTHER ROOMMATE IN HELL. I DIDN'T ASK FOR MY MONEY BACK BECAUSE I WAS MAD AND I DON'T SPEAK THE LANGUAGE. BUT BY E-MAIL I'LL LET THE WHOLE WORLD KNOW.
