The staff were wonderful, the location ideal, the hotel was clean, quiet and comfortable and extremely good to stay in - in an old, old building, but really funkily decorated. I loved it!

Hotel Bellini is a modern hotel inside an old palazzo which is being progressively rennovated. The rooms are spacious, elegant modern design and very well appointed including bar fridge. Our room had a small balcony onto the central courtyard which was very quiet and allowed air to circulate, although the split system airconditioning was brilliant. The staff went the extra yard to help with hire car difficulties and any information we sought. Very good breakfast. Five really good restaurants close by; one next to the hotel for avant guard cuisine, also Lombardi, Bellini and Porte D'Alba.Piazza Bellini opposite has two popular outdoor bars where we enjoyed a relaxed drink after dinner. Easy to access all the key sights and close to the station for day trips. We highly recommend this hotel.

We chose this hotel for its position to enable us to explare the Decumani, Spaccanapoli and Castel Nuove sectors. We were not disappointed - good buffet breakfast, too. We were pleasantly surprised that we enjoyed the modern 'boutique' style of presentation with some humourous quirks in the decor.

The rooms in this hotel were very spacious with a modern style. However, the building was under renovation, and there were several problems related to the quality of service executed. The floor was always covered with dust, and the shower sink didn´t work properly. In the last day of the stay we changed our room; the sink of the new room was working, but the dust was still there... I think in the future, after the building renovation, the hotel might improve its service. There is a goop pub just in front of the hotel, but the restaurant indicated by the staff offered an unkind service.

A wonderful find right in the center of the city. The hotel is inside an ancient palazzo (part of it is under construction but this in no way creates a problem for the guests) and it faces the square by the same name that is one of the nicest squares to hang out in in the evening, The rooms are spacious and very clean. Staff are friendly and cooperative. The hotel is located roughly 400 meters away from the National Archeological Museum. There are several good little restaurants and pizzerie nearby. A great find is L'Antica Pizzeria dell'Angelo, on Piazzetta Nilo. Via Toledo, one of city's main shopping streets is nearby; the best shops are at the end of the street towards the sea, near Piazza del Plebiscito, roughly 2 kilometers away; there is even better shopping on Via Chiaia, near the famous Gambrinus Cafe'. At the end of this street you reach the luxury shopping area around Piazza dei Martiri. This hotel is good value for money. The area is safe but, after all, you are in Naples, so avoid wearing visible expensive jewellery or carrying too many cameras; in other words, try not to look like an easy target for scippatori, the Italian name for purse snatchers.

The shower in the small bathroom is a joke, too small and difficult to clean I guess. We didn't get a key for the main entrance door we had only our room key so this was a bit of a hassle. But the room was spacious and quiet. Don't got to Carmela, the place that they recommend at the reception as a trattoria. It was awful and pricey.

We stayed in Naples to visit the museum and Pompeii. We booked two triples at the hotel. The hotel was clean and the staff was polite. The only problem we had was that the bidet would not drain water so we were unable to use it at all in one of the baths. We told the young man at the front desk just after checking in, and the problem was never looked at during our two night stay. Yes, Americans do use the bidet! The area around the hotel, as a previous posted mentioned, has many problems with homeless and cleanliness. We didn’t feel unsafe walking around at night, but at one restaurant, another waiter took the tip off the table I left for our waiter, and then told him we didn’t leave him one. We also had problems getting the ticket stamped in the Metro. The machine wouldn’t work and we were fined for it when we got off. To get our ticket stamped, we would have had to ride the metro back a stop the opposite way. We asked directions to the train to get to Pompei and the agent tried to charge us 5€. We will never stay in Naples again!

Hotel Piazza Bellini is very good value for money. It’s conveniently-located for most of what Naples has to offer, well-run and maintained with spotlessly-clean rooms. Furnishings are Italian-modern and minimalist to the point of being spartan. A small occasional table to accompany the two chairs would have been welcome. Bathroom was a decent size and well-appointed but we did run out of hot water one morning. Breakfast was quite good. The addition of a little meat and cheese would have taken it up a few notches. Coffee was perhaps the best we had in Italy. Water or milk it down a little or you’ll be buzzing till midnight. Recommendations for restaurants were superb, Sorbillo for pizza, Da Carmella for the other traditional dishes of Naples. Both within easy walking distance and, contrary to preconceptions, we never felt uneasy walking the local streets at night. We went to both restaurants twice to confirm excellent first impressions. Piazza Bellini staff were courteous and efficient without managing that extra something that turns a hotel into a home-from-home. But that may be the local style. To say that the people of Naples don’t go out of their way to endear themselves to strangers would be the understatement of the century.

ok for a short stay, the building of the hotel is actually under renovation so it's not very peaceful. The room we had was very spacious and the service was ok. The area surounding the hotel is very nice, very close to the museum and the historic district. It's also the Napoli university district so you can find nice café and a nice young crowd. The hotel is in a nice building but under renovation. The room was very dark, don't expect any view of the city especially if you stay on the first floor. The hotel is not recommended for people with mobility problems as you have to climb stairs to get in the rooms. Don't miss the Pizza Bellini just near the hotel, it's one of Napoli best pizzeria.

Room for 3 - nice that the double bed was separated from the single in a large L shaped room. The hotel is quiet, comfortable, well run and very near the excellent museum and some decent places to eat - but there are winos asleep on the steps of the church just a little way away from the front door. It was hard to find the hotel at night when we arrived - it has a very small sign above its locked wooden security door - you have to speak into the intercom to gain admittance. This may seem strange for a hotel, but if I lived in Naples, I would have a locked security door too! Naples itself is grotty - they'll charge you for everything - don't expect any favours from anyone once you are out of the hotel - and if anyone offers to 'help' you (show you the way, help you with your bag, take your picture, etc.) be suspicious - they'll only charge you for the privilege! If you have large suitcases on the metro, there is an entry to the side of the automatic gates you can go through ... but if you use it remember to go back and stamp your ticket ... we didn't and were fined by the police - who were rude, inflexible and unsympathetic - even to someone who obviously didn't understand the system, had just landed in the country and had bought (but not stamped) a ticket ... I suspect they pocketed the fine themselves! Advice to anyone wanting to visit Naples? ... Don't! On the other hand, Pompei and Herculaneum are superb and nearby ... and Hotel Piazza Bellini is a haven of refuge in a horrible city.

Hotel Piazza Bellini is within walking distance to the National Museum, and metro stations such as Metro Musei. We had no problems getting to and from Napoli Centrale and a private train to Pompeii. The staff speaks English and was able to give us written instruction to get to the hotel from Napoli Centrale. The hotel is beautifully being renovated and our room is very spacious and clean with a safe. We are very happy with this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who is visiting Napoli. Although there is a little renovating noise but not enough to bother us. I think it will be completed by the end of the year.

Hotel Piazza Bellini is a gem in a city that can be quite challenging for tourists. The hotel is located in a 15th century palace, one of several along the street, which they are currently modifying to add an additional 50 rooms. It is at he north end of a really lovely and fairly quiet square, containing several excellent restaurants and bars. Despite the heavy Naples traffic on streets not vary far away and the construction work in the building, the room was quiet during the hours we were there. The rooms are very modern and somewhat sparsely furnished, yet quite attractive (as you can see from the photos). The hotel is immaculate and the staff is quite friendly, helpful and multilingual. Breakfasts were lovely with a wide variety of juices, breads, cereals and hot beverages. The location is superb, being only several blocks from the National Archeological Museum and from the Cavour/ Museo Metro station which is easily reachable from Piazza Garibaldi, the arrival point in Naples from the airport or by train. There is also excellent bus service all over the city from stations at the Museum. The city is compact so that from the hotel you can walk all the way down to the central waterfront area via Via Toledo in about 20 minutes. A short bus ride takes you to the Capodimonte Museum and Park at the top of the northern hill. A short walk to the funicular takes you to the top of Vomero hill for beautiful views of the region. The Spaconapoli area with a large number of very interesting churches and a wonderful sampling of full-contact shopping is only a few blocks south. The price is quite reasonable for the quality of the hotel, even with the depressed dollar ($1.48/Euro). I highly recommend this hotel. Also, if you are going to visit Herculaneum and Pompei, I suggest that you purchase the Camapagna ArteCard (available at the airport and train station among other places), which gives you free transportation and admission to many sites in the region. The location of Piazza Bellini is within walking distance to several museums. The Archeological Museum is only about 3 blocks away. The hotel itself was clean and modern inside. They were doing some construction to expand, but since the workers knocked off at 4:00 p.m., we never heard them as we were out during the afternoon. We were very pleased with the room and the service of the personnel. They arranged for a taxi to pick us up at 5:00 a.m. for our early flight. I guess for Naples, this is a decent neighborhood, however, compared to other towns we visited on the Amalfi Coast, Naples seemed a bit dirty, with trash overflowing trash cans, abandoned buildings with homeless people and the accompanying smell. There were a bunch of textbook stores near this hotel, and school was starting the week after we were there, so there were a lot of teenagers out and about in the neighborhood that Saturday night. They all wore skinny jeans and black and looked kind of "goth." I guess it's your typical big, urban city. We had 2 excellent meals near the hotel -- one at Piazza Bellini restaurant, just across the street (the best pizza the whole week we were in Italy) and another nice dinner at Osteria di Carmela, just around the corner from the hotel. I'm glad to have seen Naples, and visited the museum, but I think I would avoid Naples altogether next time.

We stayed here four days total (two different times). Excellent value, wonderful service, the most helpful staff, large modern rooms, great location to get around Naples. Once the remodeling is done in Apr 2009, they will have 40-50 rooms there. It is by far the largest rooms you will stay in in Italy, regardless of the price anywhere. People usually love or hate Naples. It has the best food and historical sites, in my opinion, of any city its size in the world. I lived there for 4 years and have been back twice since, and it only gets better each time. How could you possibly go to Italy without seeing Pompeii?

The staff is great, all of them spoke English very well and helped us a lot with taxis, restaurants (especially with one that serve gluten free pizza--more on that later), and transportation around the town. Had a great free computer with Internet connection in the public area. The hotel location is very good for public transportation (the Metro subway is just a 5-10 minute walk away, from there you can easily get to the Napoli Centrale which is also the Napoli Garibaldi station, just different levels). It is easy to get to Pompeii, Hercolaneum, Vesuvios, the Archeological Museum (just 2 blocks away). There are three great restaurants right across the street from the hotel, and many more within walking distance. Just a reminder that restaurants open around 7:30-8:00 pm, so plan on eating a late dinner in Italy. Our first three days here were in Room 102 which was excellent. We left town and returned and stayed in Room 202 which was not as good (it has some hot water pipes running under the floor which heat the room and with the AC working only partially, it was not as enjoyable of a room). The breakfast was very good, no eggs but they have warm pastries with meat in them, coffee, milk, cereals, fruit, yogurts, etc. All in all, this is a great place to stay and the price is very good. Now, for the gluten free restaurant in Naples, it is Pulcinella a Santa Brigida, Via Santa Brigida 49, 80133 . The hotel will call a taxi for you if you like (it is a little too far to walk) as it is down near the castle at the bay. They had fantastic gluten free pizza that made my wife very happy, also they have the best house (red) wine we had in our entire 2 week trip. www.pulcinellasantabrigida.it

The welcome we got was first class. We had all of the tourist sites marked for us on a map, as well as suggestions of the best places to visit. There were building works going on next door, so the room was a little noisy, hammering waking us up in the morning, but I assume this is a short term problem. The position of the hotel is good, right in the historical centre of Naples, and close to the metro, but the area around the hotel itself is dirty. If you're going to be brave enough to visit Naples, then I would recommend this hotel, it is a pleasant oasis amongst the chaos outside!

Hotel was good value for money, but is really a glorified, modern hostel than a hotel. Rooms were clean and of average size, shower worked well. Hotel is well located near to a lively square with bars and restaurants. Walking distance to the main shoping streets and also possible to walk to the historical sites (20-30mins). Breakfast was included, but was not of great quality (stale croissants and weak coffee). Staff were friendly and helpful, although I was put off when they recommended a local restaurant as being very popular and traditional, which was actually deserted and seemingly under the same ownership as the hotel. I would on balance recommend the hotel however given it's good location, good value for money and well kept rooms.

This was our first trip to Naples and unfortunately we didn't enjoy it. The hotel itself was great - freshly renovated, spacious and good service and facilities (free internet) - however the area around the hotel (the historic centre) was undesirable. I would not recommend this location to solo female traveller. It did not feel safe, and upon our arrival we learned that another guest at the hotel had his bag stolen in the main street off his back. The hotel was an oasis in an unfavourable city.

This hotel puts all others in this price range and higher to shame. For the price the room was excellent, the room was huge and very well decorated and bright and modern. In other Italian cities we paid at least 30 euros more for tiny hotel rooms that looked like they were in a time warp from the 70s, the complete opposite to this hotel. It's probably the nicest mid range hotel we've stayed in anywhere. Clean, massive room, nice bathroom, good shower, comfortable bed, fridge, A/C, storage, great location in town. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Naples. The only problem we had was construction going on in another part of the building, but this was not the hotel's fault. We didn't see the breakfast as we had to leave early in the morning.

**Excellent** Campania food in a restaurant just around the corner (exit the hotel, walk leftwards, then left again in the corner, and walk some 20 meters; or ask in the hotel for guidance). Best pizza in Naples at Sorbilo, only 10' walking distance. Nice places for an evening drink just accross the street, in Piazza Bellini. DO NOT rent a car, traffic is maddening. DO use local transport to move around the city or to nearby locations such as Vesubio or Pompei, which can be easily and economically reached by metro and train.

The location was good as was the overall quality of the room and its facilities. One of the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly, the other less competent. The public area was limited to a small entrance office and a functional breakfast area. The breakfast was poor. ALthough the facilities were good I had not expected a room adapted to a very high standard for disabled use. This was not made clear. This detracted somewhat from the overall ambience. The hotel would benefit from a few simple changes - (a) a UK or American English language channel on the television. (How many people want the only English language channel to be a Russian one?), (b) a comfortable sitting area and (c) a printer link to the computer available for guests. (We had to use the reception computer to print off boarding passes for our flight home).

Our stay at this hotel was great. It is all newly renovated. The rooms are large, the bathroom is very nice and the shower is excellent. The building is an old city palace "palazzo," with tall ceilings, balconies and large windows. The staff was very helpful, and we appreciated receiving the Campagna "Red Card," which gave us free admission to museums and transportation, including the double decker tour bus. They recommended a wonderful restaurant just around the corner, and they were able to answer all of our questions. The hotel is expanding and is undergoing renovation, but it didn't interfere with our stay. One potential problem is if you have trouble with stairs. There is an elevator up to the hotel, but we had to then walk down a flight of stairs to our room. The neighborhood is good and in transition, we felt comfortable there as a couple. The continental breakfast was good. When in Naples, do not miss the amphitheatre in nearby Pozzuoli. It is a short metro train ride away. It shows you exactly what the inside and cellars of the Colosseum in Rome would look like if they fully existed, as they do in Pozzuoli.

We were staying in the building at the other side of the courtyard to the main office. One time we were not buzzed into our room and so had to go back over to reception to request that they buzz us in which could prove to be very annoying if it happened more than once. Also while in our room the noise of the buzzer allowing others access to their rooms is very loud and did wake us up at 7am. Breakfast was very minimal. Bedroom and bathroom were nice.

Very nicely decorated hotel in a lovely old building in the heart of old Naples. Excellent price/quality. Very good breakfast compared to many Italian hotels. Easy to reach the tourist attractions, shops etc. Also very nice restaurants nearby.

We were glad to arrive by taxi as we would have struggled to find the hotel on our own. Once there however we were blown away by the setting and the convenient position within the old centre of Naples. It was just a short stroll to the National museum with all the Pompeii and Herculanium finds and so near to Piazza Dante and its public transport links. We'll definitely use the hotel again.

We arrived in Naples with a feeling of dread after hearing terrible things about it while in Rome. Piazza Bellini and its staff quickly restored our faith in our decision to stay in Naples. The hotel was fantastic - big, clean rooms and extremely helpful staff. The area, although a bit dirty (there was a garbage dispute on at the time) was on the border of the historical center and had great restaurants, sights (the National Archeological Museum is 2 blocks away) and reasonably priced shopping - the best we found in all of Italy). I would not hesitate to return to Piazza Bellini.

In particular the staff at the reception was extremely helpful with providing suggestions and making arrangements for us, e.g. reservation at restaurants. The location is very convenient, in walking distance to Dante metro station, the Archeological Museum and Via Tribunali that has lots of good restaurants (e.g. the two best pizza restaurants we've ever been to). The room was very clean and spacious; all we missed was a bathtub. This week having been part of our honeymoon, this hotel has met our expectations or exceeded them in many aspects.

This is a small but very well equipped hotel with a distinct character of its own with a wonderful collection of original quirky illustrations on the walls. Our room was spacious , imaginatively decorated with a splendidly firm bed and an immaculate bathroom. Only two reservations, both of which are minor: external signage is unclear so that it is difficult to find and you have to go into a courtyard and up some stairs (or a lift) to reach reception; the second reservation is to do with the breakfast which was adequate but no more - it could be significantly improved through the availability of cheeses and Italian ciabatta style bread (which is certainly served in local restaurants). Fresh rolls and croissants were on offer and they were appreciated. Overall a splendid hotel which we would happily re-visit, given its ideal location and the excellence of the room facilities.

Catch this 10-room hotel before it enlarges next year. The rooms are extremely quiet, with good contemporary design; the staff very welcoming and helpful. It is just down the road from Naples Archaeological Museum and very conveniently situated in the old quarter. Be prepared for breakfasts on the sweet rather than savoury side!

Wonderful stay. Rooms are clean, spacious and very quiet. Only complaint was having to climb up stairs to get key, back down, across drive to another building, up stairs and then, when the desk clerk did not activate the door lock, had to go back down, across drive, up stairs, ask clerk to let you in, then back down, etc.....Happened several times after getting key. Recomend a small bar just south of hotel (#62 on same street) - Berevino. Very friendly staff and good atmosphere.

Hotel is very well located in centro historico. Fitout is consistent with internet photographs. Rooms are all very contemporary and designed to maximise useable space. We appreciated the small clear glass fronted fridge, the abundance of hanging hooks and flat screen TV. Our room and bathroom were spacious and overlooked internal courtyard with floor to ceiling double opening doors. We appreciated the free internet access. This was the best valued and nicest hotel we stayed in during our month in Italy.

The Hotel Bellini had the best bathrooms in the whole of our trip in Italy. The palazzo is being renovated but this was bearable due to the great rooms. The surroundings are somewhat seedy and it was a pleasure to get into your hotel. The rooms were spacious, very clean and well appointed for a traveller with good hanging space and comfortable beds.

Compared to our last years hotel The Piazza Bellini was fantastic. Last year we stayed close to the central station. The Piazza Bellini was quiet (and this in the very center of Naples!!! and the room located next to the front desk!). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice in a modern and puristic way. Don't get that wrong. We liked it and felt comfortable. We had a balcony, a minibar and a nice modern bathroom with soap, lots of towels and shower cap.. Only the toilet flush was kind of difficult to stop... Well, the breakfast is Italian style, lots of sweet buns. We stayed there with our 4 years old son in a triple room. One night we left him there with the baby phone online and went across the street for a drink. Just the baby phone did not work. But the staff heard our son cry, went inside, comforted him, left light and door open (next to reception desk, remember?) and did not critisize us.... Our son slept soundly when we returned. Of course, we had a bad consciousness but the staff reacted in a way you can only dream of.

This new modern hotel was perfect for the chaos of Napoli. It provided an oasis of tranquility which we loved. The room had wood hooks as decoration along one entire wall which was very useful to hang clothes easily and keep the room neat. The bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning great. The location was very central and we walked everywhere easily. The front desk staff was helpful in recommending restaurants, and how to get to where we wanted to go, calling a taxi, etc.

Piazza Bellini is a fantastically clean and spacious hotel. Modern and funky designs in bedrooms and communal dining areas make it a pleasant return from a day or night exploring the surrounding areas and squares. Whilst Naples isnt everyones cup of tea, the staff at this hotel efficiently point you in the right direction (and offer maps too) of many fabulous restaurants and sightseeing opportunities. I would stay at this hotel again and again.

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel Piazza Bellini. The english and french speaking personnel is really nice and helpful. The hotel is ideally located and has been completely refurbished just before our stay. The room was spacious and comfortable. The only exception to the above is that we were in a room just close to the breakfast area (room 202) which was particularly noisy. However, for the price we paid (70 euros for a night), the balance quality/price is very good.

Small modern minimalist but tasty design hotel (designed by a well known artist) in the ancient building. Huge ceilings, space, both in the room and in the bathroom (comparing to any other European hotel I stayed before. Small price (we paid 70 euro per night for the twin). We had a very short stay, arrived at 10 pm from Sorrento for just 1 night before the flight. Welcoming staff, mostly young students type. They answered my e-mails right away and booked the airport shuttle for my early morning flight before the trip. Good breakfast, starts 6:30am. Highly recommend Ristorante Piazza Bellini right across the street from the hotel. Excellent food, especially seafood salad with a great variety of fresh seafood, the heavenly cake, and limoncello liquor after dinner (region specialty and it was free). We felt right at home with these people, especially our waiter, Michele. He even showed us Naples after the meal was over, since we did not really have a chance to see it. The food in Naples is generally very good and the city is big. It has a lot of beautiful architecture and sea views but also side streets in the city center look very dirty and scare tourists.

Fantastic place to stay in Naples. Very quite square (called Piazza Bellini) near to center, it's like an island of peace in this chaotic and hot city. Very clean and spacious rooms, with air condition, good design of pop-art, wood ground, lights with 'charme' and comfortable bed. Fantastic employees, very pleasent, offers good information. The only negative point is the upstairs to access to the bedrooms. Very recommendable.

I was extremely pleased. I took a change when I reserved this hotel because it was cheap only 75 Euro. I only needed to stay for one night so it was worth a chance. The hotel is newly renovated and tastefully done. The rooms are spacious and extremely clean. The hotel is only minutes away from the port. They have a special rate with the taxi for trips to the airport. There are three lovely outdoor restaurants across the street. My only complaint is that you need be careful that you don't wander to the wrong side of the street. One direction will bring you to the less desirable side of Naples while the other direction is the historical district. Head for the arches and go through you won’t be disappointed. Also be aware this hotel just opened in April. I’m sure once the word gets out the price will jump significantly.

How to reach Hotel Piazza Bellini
