Super location in the center ! Hotel is situated in the 4th floor. First we were affraid to the dirty street and dark stairs inside the building, but when we came into the 4th floor, everything were OK. Personal were friendly, breakfast good. Super relationship between price/quality and location inside centre !

This was a good, clean hotel at a nice location and with reasonable prices. My only comment was the noise coming from the adjacent rooms: we could hear the surrounding toilets/bathrooms very clearly. But overall this was a good place to stay.

The Hotel Nettuno is a perfect spot for those, who will not spend much time in the hotel and are not looking for relaxation. The price is unbeaten and the location right in the university area is perfect for conquering Naples. The mainstation from where you catch busses and trains to the airport, Pompeji, etc. is only a 20 Minute walk or a short bus ride away. We had shared a quadrupel which luckily did not have bunk beds! I'd stay there again and recommend it to my friends.

Although the shower was tiny and the breakfast a little basic, I really couldn't complain about this hotel. It's a real bargain for the price with clean rooms and pleasant staff. Highly recommended for budget travellers.

The staff at the hotel were generally very competent - it is handy though to have some understanding of Italian to help you through more complicated questions/situations (should you have any). The information about the hotel is quite accurate although there was some noise. I had anticipated noise from traffic outside given that it is a very bustling city (although it is on a quieter side street and not on the main road), however, there was some noise from other occupants of the building itself e.g. from televisions. Directions to the hotel are good. We decided though it would be easiest to get a taxi there on our first night given that we had arrived late in the evening and weren't sure where in Piazza Garibaldi the R2 bus left from. Overall it is well placed to access other parts of the city. Breakfast was ok, although not very extensive, and it was a little disappointing to get given coffee, tea etc. out of a Nescafe machine. Also, at the time of writing (October 2007) the lift doesn't require you to pay to use it, (as an older review stated) so check this before struggling up the stairs with cases as it may save you some effort. Overall, it was good value for money. With regards to Naples itself, as mentioned above it is a very busy city. It is not as clean as some Italian cities but there is lots to see there, as well as being a good base to travel to a number of other places e.g. Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius etc. etc. There is a bus stop quite close to the hotel and it is possible to reach different parts of the city from there. If you prefer to walk to Piazza Garibaldi it is a steady 15/20 minutes from there. There are quite a few shops on Corso Umberto so you can always do a bit of window shopping on the way. There is a good pizzeria on Corso Umberto (walking towards P.Garibaldi), just a few minutes from the hotel on the opposite side of the road. Very good food and very reasonably priced. There is also a small shop a coupl

The hotel itself is a decent place, however the surroundings are very dirty and look extremely unsafe! Would not advise going there with children. Also the hotel itself is in a building but it starts on the second floor and u have to buzz to get into the building in the first place! The receptionist was kind and helped us as much as possible and the rooms weren't bad! Very close to the harbour!

Bathroom is very small and plumbing is a desaster: Waste water goes through a noisy electrical mixer device (and the neighbour's device keeps you awake). Shower water is either too little (if neighbour showers at same time) or much more than the sewage capacity --> bathroom gets flooded. Really disappointing in particular in Italy with its usually good bathroom culture. For the rest, safety and cleanliness are good, staff is correct (not exactly friendly, but may be helpful if you speak a little Italian). Street noise level is what you'd expect in this area of Naples (acceptable in my inside-patio looking room). TV has no remote control.

We loved our trip to Roma and Italy. Being Catholics, our trip was like a pilgrimace of a lifetime. I personally could live in Italy. That's how much I fell in love with Italy and its people. Venere does an incredible job of locating hotels and accomodations. I was amazed. Italian Embassy in Chicago took our itinerary from Venere as our itinerary throughout Italy. (Not being a US citizen I had to provide an itinerary to the Embassy and Verere's version was accepted. The confirmation we received from Venere were good enough. We did not have to verify our reservations. When we got into town (we went to 7 different cities) and appeared at the hotel, they had our reservation without any questions. They simply asked for copies of our passports. I was amazed how well the private businesses (Venere and hotles) worked with Italian Government to ensure the identify of the tourists at various points through our trip. (I sort of resent this aspect, but I could see the security benefit of the process). If I did not mark the box excellent, it would be because the pictures of the rooms we saw on-line looked more spacious than the actual rooms. However, the daily tours and activities were so incredibly enriching, we were able to put up with the slight inconveniences.(We went to the hotel to sleep, so the accomadations were just fine.)Therefore, I would suggest that once a person makes the reservation, they could e-mail the hotel and get more speciifc information regarding the rooms, if they provide hair dryer, digital camera re-charger etc. All in all, we loved every minute of our 3 week trip and have no complain. Thank you for all your help.

The room had a barking dog on the balcony opposite, which did its job if we, or anything else moved near it. Napoli is built on Napoli and this explains the oddly shaped rooms. The air conditioning and, believe it or not, the T.V remote, are on supplement, which were not mentioned on the description on the web. They will take advantage of people that have travelled all day and are warm and need to rest. They demanded the possession of our passports for two days, until we argued, for which they provided no explaination. There was no phone, which was also promised in their advertising. There is a Mcdonalds only twenty yards away if you need a taste of Italy, but the shop next door has a variety of good beers and salady goods which were better. (Mcdonalds to the right of the door, good deli to the left). The roof garden where breakfast was served was not unpleasent. The coffee was machine served and the breakfast was pre-packed sugared croissant and was not worth actual money. (The croissant travels well unless one's wife sits on it.) Do the Napoli sotteranea, the underground tour thingumy, and definately eat the sea food, but I would advise that you stay somewhere else.

This hotel is in a seedy looking side street so dont be put off by the appearance of the street and hotel on arrival. When you go up in the lift you will be pleasantly surprised. The hotel is clean and bright and the staff are very polite helpful and honest. The rooms are clean and well furnished and decorated. My room was cleaned and fresh towels left every day. When I went to Rome for 2 days my luggage was stored securely for me and was back in my room on my return. All in all a hotel worth the money. Although the noise from the streets can be a bit loud it didnt keep me awake. The hotel is about 20 mins walk from the main station at Piazza Garibaldi so pack your walking shoes!!!!

napoli is not a nice town. loud and hectic, and so hot in summer. but the the nettuno-hotel was ok. the rooms were clean and spaciously, the personal was pleasant. the hotel was in the old part of napoli and the surroundings are not so horrible like in other parts of the city. but it is'nt quiet there - but this is napoli. two things: first: our shower was very very small - but you need a shower in napoli, believe me! second: forget the a breakfast. it is a joke - nothing worth!

The hotel was totally unsuitable. we were visiting our daughter, who works in Naples. She was not allowed up to our room to collect items we had taken over with us and the hotel was run exactly like an hostel, which should be its correct status. Rooms lacked natural light, they were noisy, the bathroon was dangerous the light fitting over the whb was 'live' I had a shock to my hand, the shower cubicle was too small for an adult to bend to wash your lower half. We decided to leave after the second night, only because we arrived late the first night and had a full next day arranged or we would have left earlier. On leaving the receptionist rudely insisted that we had to stay because we had booked four nights and that we would have to pay for the four nights. this would be grossly unfair as the hotel/hostel was not costed as the bottom end of the market and at the very least we expected a proper hotel.

The area is rather intimidating - a scruffy street in the port area. In addition, the hotel occupies the fourth and fifth floor of an otherwise residential building, so when you get past the gates (accessed via an intercom - a bit difficult if your Italian is non existent) you have to go up in the lift to the fourth floor, to get to the Reception. But once inside the hotel was fine - rooms large and clean, staff fine. We were also able to walk to the National Museum of Archeology (highly recommended) and lots of buses very nearby. We loved our time in Naples

The Nettuno is a fourth floor hotel situated on a back street just off the busy Piazza Bovio. The street it is on is reasonably quiet although a fair amount of noise comes through from the Piazza. Its location is greatly to be preferred over the seedy area around the station where a lot of Naples' hotels are located, and is convenient for exploring the city. Because of their booking situation we had to stay in a different room for the first night, which was not quite fully built yet! (I think we surprised them by turning up at midday). Nevertheless, it was more or less functional and will be excellent when complete, with all mod cons such as en suite bathroom, A/C and double glazing (not sure if it will be priced the same as the other rooms). For the rest of the time we stayed in an older room on the main floor. It was large and very well furnished, clean and airy. It had a TV and an en suite bathroom (shower). The staff were very friendly and helpful (a problem with a blocked shower was fixed promptly). There is a good system for storage of valuables. A lift is in operation. No breakfast is provided (no big loss). Overall it is excellent value for money.
