This is our fourth stay in 5 years. It's always pot luck with rooms and bathrooms - some are much bigger than others. This time we had a very small bedroom with a tiny shower room. The bedroom was fine, but the shower room was very run down looking, and not very clean. There was a hair in the shower and all the grouting wanted a good scrub. The whole place is feeling a bit run down. Having said that, the staff were very good and helpful, our shower was repaired immediately. The breakfast is limited.

Das fruehstueck ist der Schwachpunkt.Fuer mitteleuropaeischen Geschmack wenig abwechslungsreich.

This was our second stay at Neapolis and was equally pleasant in terms of the welcome we got. The only criticism was that this time the bathroom had not been properly cleaned before our arrival and the bathroom fittings were very worn and shabby. Visit San Lorenzo excavations and try pizza from Di Matteo down the street.

The room was OK for price quoted. Breakfast was good. We were concerned about finding hotel upon arrival and booked hotel van for pick up at train station for 19 Euros (2 people). Trip to hotel took 10 minutes. Unfortunately, it was not easy to book other "secure" taxi and we had to use van again upon returning to train station - for another 18 Euro. The 37 Euro charged for the two short rides is excessive - and hotel was unwilling to charge a more reasonable rate. Other than this - the overall stay was acceptable.

Excellent location in the middle of the Centro Historico. Very pleasant suroundings. Many small restaurants. Having a PC connected to the internet in every room is great. I had a superior room at the top floor, bright and big, nicely decorated. Helpfull staff ; english & french spoken. Would not fit people with leg problems as the lift does not go to this floor. There is a bubble bath in the bathroom ; unfortunately not enought clean to use it with confidence. Of course do not attempt to stay in this area if you have a car : parking would be a nightmare.

Naples is a wild, exciting city! This hotel is in a nice location. They have a roof top bar which is brilliantly lovely. A nice restaurant is on the street and the staff was very helpful. A taxi brought us from the train station to the hotel, it was about 35 euros. Our family walked all over Naples and at night it's a bustling area with nice inexpensive shopping, a grocery store, pizza place, lots of kids out on motos....we loved it. The air conditioner in our room was off due to the off season. It was muggy during the day, but it cooled off at night. A computer was in the room with Wi-fi. We loved it there. The staff was great. Helped us get a ferry to Capri and they helped us get to Pompei and back. Loved, loved, loved it!

The staff were all exceptionally pleasant and helpful and made us very welcome. We were allowed to leave our luggage there and offered the use of the facilities even though we arrived too early to book in. Also one of the evening staff recommended an excellent trattoria when we asked for a suggestion. We spent two nights there and the only slight criticism we have relates to the breakfast fruit juices. These were made from powders mixed with water and tasted of artificial flavourings and were a lurid colour. We would have expected fresh fruit juice to be available at a hotel in this price range. However we will definitely use the Neapolis again next time we are in Naples.

We chose this hotel because it claimed to have an airport shuttle, but in fact it did not. We booked to use the shuttle, but when we rang the hotel to say we would arrive in 2 hours, they told us to get a taxi from the airport. This cost 30 euros. We asked about the shuttle for the return to the airport as there was still info about it in the rooms, but they could not arrange it. They called us a taxi which arrived in 2 minutes and cost 15 euros as there was little traffic. The hotel is in an excellent position for visiting the historic part of Naples, in a street with little traffic, so remarkably quiet for a city centre hotel.

For the price, the hotel was ok. We had arranged for the shuttle to collect us but when I rang to confirm from the port, it was not available. The staff were very helpful although there was a language problem, but we requested a reception level room and unfortunately although it was booked and confirmed with the receptionist 3 days prior, there was none available & we had to lug our very heavy cases up 3 flights of stone stairs. Our only other problem, was the hot water service,we actually stayed an extra night in a different room, (also up 3 flights, however the staff assisted with our cases the 2nd time)& found there was no hot water even when we ran the water for about 5 mins, eventually a staff member was sent up to our room, and ran the water for over 10 minutes before it became hot enough for a shower This was very inconvenient, as well as a huge waste of water.

The hotel was generally ok (including location and price) but I did come away disappointed with one aspect. That was the amount of noise which you heard in the room. The noise was not just from the street below, but also from other rooms in the block where the hotel was located. This is my main criticism. Otherwise, the hotel was generally ok.

The Neapolis Hotel is located in the historical district of Naples, and is especially well suited to those interested in museums and building sites. It is convenient to metro lines and bus routes for access to other parts of the city. The hotel is designed to accommodate business travellers as well as families, with a computer and internet access in each room. The staff is notably friendly and helpful.

Neapolis is a typical old European hotel, actually more like the kind I stayed in during my post-college days (except for the private bathroom.) I was traveling solo and was assigned a gigantic triple, which was nice. Unfortunately, the bathroom was stinky, the sheers on the window were gray (they were supposed to be white) and my little loveseat had lots of stains. I loved the location, because it was right off Tribunali and close to many of the Citta Anticca sights. The staff was a bit dim and sent me to the museum on the Close day (tuesday) and had no idea which bus to take to Capodimonte. In fact, most of their info was either wrong or missing, and I was only asking really typical questions that probably any tourist would ask. The hotel has a restaurant, which was the only one they'd recommend, and all it served was pizza and a couple of lackluster salads. But-I'd stay here again just for the location, as I like to be in the center of the old part of town wherever I am.

My room was a gigantic triple (I was alone) which was nice for me and actually would have been plenty large enough for three people. It even had a little loveseat! The things about the room that bothered me were: 1. the bathroom smelled as though there were plumbing problems somewhere, so I had to hold my breath whenever I used it and 2. the sheers were so filthy that whenever I opened the window and had to disturb them, I was disturbed. Also, the loveseat had some pretty heavy duty stains. I did love the location, though, which was right smack dab in the middle of the Citta Antica and right off Tribunali. Unfortunately the desk staff was very poor at simple directions. They sent me to the museum on the Closed day and knew nothing about buses or trains at all. The only restaurant they'd direct me to was their own downstairs, which only had pizza & salads.

The Neapolis is in a great location in the heart of Spaccanapoli, but it is a mediocre hotel with small rooms and uncomfortable beds. Don't hang around for the breakfast buffet; it is easier and better to eat at any nearby cafe.

We came by car. Considering hotel location, garage use is a must (very narrow streets, no parking nearby). Rooms were recently painted and furnished ! very comfortable. Location is great for those who enjoy old Napoli streets - and they surely are enjoyable. A single drawback : noisy heating (necessary during our winterly stay).

WE did not have any expectations before making the booking other than being central to interesting areas of the city and convenient for transfer to the airport. The taxi from Napoli station cost us 15 euro but the route caused us some concern as it took us up very narrow streets and sometimes what we thought were laneways. On arrival at our hotel, we could not readilly work out how to enter as it was on the third floor and signage was not to be seen. In addition, the lift was located in a courtyard and took sometime top arrive at ground level. Once at reception, we were very pleasantly surprised and treated very well by staff who invited us to take breakfast while the room was being prepared. This was very good of them as we were very early arriving. The room was spacious and clean and had all the necessary facilities. The free internet was a bonus. Tea in the pizzeria was a delight. Staff very friendly and good value. As it turned out, the hotel was very well located for walking to the museum, the duomo and sidestreet cafes and markets. The taxi to the airport was arranged by the hotel staff and 20 euro as quoted.

Fearfully very narrow roads.Do not ever try to go there with your own car. The hotel was on the third floor of a block of apartments. From the entry of the block you can see only dark apartments and stairs. Here there is the entry of an elevator which you go on the 3 floor, in the hotel. Nevertheless the room was big the breakfast very goog and the staff very kind.

The hotel was excellent, the food in the Gryphon Inn was great! Only issue with my stay was that the internet went down causing them to not be able to process my payment. I was not informed of this until I went to check out...I ended up wandering around the city for over an hour trying to find an ATM that worked in order to get the cash to pay for my stay. If I had been told about the issue a day or two previously, I would've had plenty of time to get some cash.

The elevator was out on our visit and it was a long climb with heavy luggage to get to the hotel (3 flights up)- our room was dirtier than I liked and the bathroom was worse. We were there only one night to fly out the next morning- so for the price it was ok to stay in one night but I would not use this as the hotel to stay in if I was visiting Naples for more than one night.

We had a fantastic stay at neapolis. we had a room on the 4th floor looking down to via tribunale. the windows are very sound proof but the street is not that noisy at night. the internet connection in the room was superb and the bathroom was very new with a fantastic big shower. breakfast was OK for italy, fresh cappucinos, croissants etc. it is located right in the center of the old part. the streets are very narrow and you live in the middle of the locals which we liked a lot. some nice little trattorias and pizzerias are right at via tribunale. would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is right in the historic centre of Naples and as such is an excellent base for seeing the city. There are plenty of really good places to eat in the area - you might have problems though if you only speak English. I didn't see any public transport in the immediate area which would need to be considered if walking was a problem. Being in the middle of the city it wasn't absolutely quiet at night, but then what can you expect! Naples is a stunning city and well worth seeing, other reviewers I read talked about safety issues in the city, but I had no problems at all. Overall an excellent base and a pleasant stay. This was my first stay here and I would definitely plan to stay here again when I return to Naples.

This was an excellent choice for a first visit by a couple arriving by plane. The hotel is in the center of historic Napoli. Just a short bus ride (15 minutes) from the airport to the main train station, then a 10 minute walk straight through old Napoli to the hotel which is located in an antique part of town. The staff was very welcoming and the room large with a great view on the courtyard (beautifully lit at night) and main street below (lots of foot traffic during the day but rather calm at night). A pc with internet access was installed in the room for super convenience. Breakfast was plentiful with special, local pastries. From the hotel we were able to walk anywhere and everywhere in town. We took the metro to some far-flung places like the small cemetary where Leopardi is buried with "Virgile". Watch out for the traffic, there are no street lights. Near the hotel are a couple of excellent pizza restaurants as well as a wonderful trattoria.

Hotel Neapolis is in a difficult to find run-down area of Naples. Getting a taxi from the airport or station is the best way to get there. The taxi driver escorted us to the door of the hotel (either for safety or for a bigger tip)but on the whole we felt safe walking about the area, even at night. There are places in Naples you wouldn't visit evein in broad daylight! The Hotel itself is slightly run-down also, even if they do supply a computer and free broadband in the rooms. I would have preferred a bigger room and cleaner bathroom instead. The shower was tiny with not enough room to move around and the grouting around the tiles was mildewed. Breakfast was very poor, even for Italy. When food ran out it was not replaced. The advertised bar was non-existent. The restaurant was quite good - better for lunch than dinner at night. You get 10% discount in the restaurant if you stay in the Hotel. The Bellini restaurant on Piazza Bellini is much better. There are other restaurants and cafes on Piazza Bellini worth trying also. Naples is not a city to which I would return.

Hotel was very difficult to find. We had a GPS in our hire vehicle but still managed to get lost a few times. The hotel is located in a very small street on the third floor of an old building. Parking was extremely difficult/limited and my car was damaged in their carpark and no responsibility taken. Breakfast was good but first in first served, if one is late, too bad. The free internet access in each room was great. Overall for a three star hotel it was not too bad.

Great location. Right in the heart of the Centro Storico. Naples is not for the weak. It is crowded, chaotic, and overwhelming. But there is a great street for shopping nearby with two "underground tours" of Greek and Roman Naples. There are two nice piazzas with nice cafes clsedy by and the Archeological Museum is about a 15 minute walk away with a Metro stop. We ended up falling in love with this city. It was the most unique place I'd ever been in Europe. The staff didn't speak English all that well, but the breakfast was excellent, the rooms clean, and there were friendly smiles all around. Oh and yeah, the restaurant was excellent. Get the Pizza or the Prociusto with Monzarella.

The Hotel is listed as having dining facilities for half board. The facility was closed and no email warning given. Arriving at 7:30 pm we were advised that we would have to dine "out" and a small reduction in the rate would be given. This was never satisfactorily and specifically explained. In the room the telephone did not work over the whole week which precluded room service ( also advertised ). The shower ( no bath available ) was approximately 60 centimetres square and did not allow an adult to bend. The fittings were heavily corroded and in a most inconvenient position in such a small space. Carelessness in moving could produce a sudden change from `hot` to `icy` in one`s shower. The hot water tap on the hand basin gave nothing more than a tepid trickle and was explained as choked with alkali. It was unuseable. The rooms are supplied with one thin pillow although more were supplied on request. The included breakfast was somewhat meagre and ran out of one or two comestibles, unitl specifically requested. Arriving early for breakfast ( 097:30 to 10:30 ) is strongly recommended if the hotel is full with tour parties. A car and guide was arranged by the hotel for a day, with a friend of the boss, and was charged at £227 sterling ( 338 Euros ). It consisted of a high speed drive along the Amalfi coast with one stop for lunch at a vry ordinary roadside cafe known to the driver where lunch for three cost £57 pounds sterling. The Hotel is located in the most dirty, raffish, and awkward quarter of the "Old City" and my very expensive movie camera was stolen off my shoulder even though being held very firmly, by a motor scooter bandit. The Police seemed extremely familiar with this kind of crime in this particular area. The streets in which the Hotel is situated are `ancient stones` unevenly paved and extremely difficult for walking but there is no alternative to that other than calling a taxi on every venture out. That is also a lot safer. A

Beautifully located in Spaccanapoli, the old quarter of Naples with its important churches and pizzerias, Neapolis is a 5 - 10 minute walk from the National Archaelogical Museum in Piazza Cavour, and the subway station there, one stop from the central railroad station. Piazza Bellini, with its charming literary cafe “Intra Moenia”, is not much more than five minutes away. The hotel is reached by private elevator from a courtyard and takes up most of the third floor of a residential building. We received a most enthusiastic welcome. At breakfast, we received seconds on the very nice cappucino, and found a buffet with meat, cheese, yogurt, sweet rolls, fresh juices. There is free wireless internet access in each room, and you don't need to bring a computer to use it.

Winziges, sauberes Zimmerchen mitten in der Altstadt. Nettes Personal (Anna-Sophia!).

Great location. Our only disappointment was that restaurant downstairs was closed for refurbishment but there are several good pizzerias and trattorias within 2 mins walk. Just 5 mins from Dante Metropolitana stn and not much more from Cavour/Museo stns.

Good central location. However, would be hard to find, unless arriving by taxi (even though they don't necessarily know were it is - note should only cost you approx. 10 euros from central train station). Staff (reception and breakfast staff especially) were outstanding. Nothing was ever a problem. Room was neat and comfortable.

The Neapolis is a very nice hotel in the middle of the city-center on the third floor, but with a lift. All in all we were very content with our stay. .We got there by train, but if you have a car,I think its difficult to find a parking-space.

We were very impressed with this hotel and will book a room here the next time we return to Napoli. The location is perfect, tricky to get to if you happen to be daft enough to bring your own car but by taxi it is fine. The cake which they offer at breakfast time was heaven for the mouth.

A little Gem in Napoli..although not too easy to find unless you take a taxi. Room was spacious with added special bonus of Free flat screen Internet. Staff extremely helpful in every way. A lovely restaurant downstairs in adjoining Square offered discount for Hotel Guests. One of the nicest properties we stayed in during three months travel through Europe. We would recommend this property and would definately stay again if we return to Naples in the future. Excellent value for the price.

Very nice hotel, no problems at all. Clean and quiet. If you come from the railway station with a heavy suitcase, just take a taxi. It's the most convenient way to reach the hotel.

A very good hotel and right in the heart of old Naples. English speaking but happy to let you try out your Italian. Good breakfast & free internet access. Not too noisy and double glazed. air conditioned. Good value and near everything that matters. But take a taxi from the airport. The C.I.A couldn't find this place.

Nice hotel with friendly staff. Large room although there were men working just outside the door. The only complaint is the food - there was very little choice at breakfast and I do not reccommend the restaurant next door which was not good at all.

E trovare parcheggio a Napoli.... Internet gratis OK! the only problem is the parking. For the rest, All Right, expecially the rooms!

This is a great hotel in an interesting location. The room evan had a internet computer. The location is in the heart of Old historic Naples. The area is right out of the middle ages with no tourist whitewash or updates. The hotel is an oasis in the middle of this unique area. Don't leave the hotel without a map and take a cab to the hotel. This is a great hotel, at a reasonable price in a unique location.

I loved this little gem! It's in an old palace in the heart of the historic center of Napoli, but the rooms are completely renovated and have full amenities. The bathroom was almost new and extremly clean. And it's true: they have a PC with hi-speed internet access in every room. I couldn't believe it! There was only one small problem: when I asked both the hotel and the tourist information in the railway station how to get to the hotel they suggested public transportion and then walking. Which would have been just fine if I didn't have luggage. But trying to pull one of those things on wheels on a street 10 ft wide paved (pretty poorly!) with stone is no picnic!

The room was quiet and spacious. There was free internet facility inside our room. Reception staff provided an user id and password to us when we checked in, then we could access internet without charge. It was very good for travellers and most importantly, we don't need to wait/queue up in public area for access. That's really great. The only drawback was that the hotel was not close to railway station, i.e. about 15 minutes to the nearest station, however, it was acceptable since it was close to other places to visit and there were a number of souvenir shops and dinning places.

The rough guide where right, once you've been to Naples you will defend it like the locals. Fabulous place and we are definitely going back. The hotel is situated in the centre and is easy to get anywhere from on foot. The restaurant linked to the hotel downstairs is lovely with great staff also.

Really a great choice if you like to stay in the heart of the historical centre, next to Piazza Bellini, Duomo, and Hist. Museum. Walking from the hotel you can reach almost everything of Naples, and Metro is just 5 minutes by walk. A good relation price/quality out of the big hotel chains which in fact are located in the sea side not as well located for standard turism.

This is a very small hotel (one floor of what appears to be a residential building) located in the heart of historic Napoli. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We loved the computer and internat access in the room, and we liked being in a part of the city that was home to Italians rather than a stopping-off spot for tourists.

A small friendly hotel situated near the university and historic part of the town. Proved a refreshing experience from staying near Pizza Garibaldi. The only drawback back was the distance from the main road (for those without transport) especially in sizzling temperatures although there was a lot of sightseeing on offer. The restuarant was equally delightful in providing authentic Neoplitan dishes at reasonable prices. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to experience neopolitan culture at a reasonable price.
