Hotel Joyfull - Naples

Nice hotel but far away from downtown.

First visit to Naples at start of cycle tour to Garda in the north, thankfully this hotel is reasonably close to the airport and easy to find on a bike even at night when we arrived. This end of Naples is quite shocking still, rubbish in the streets, unkept buildings, shanty areas and a somewhat scary place.

Excellent hotel choice for a 4 days trip to Naples and Capri.

Really poor neighbourhood

The standard of food in the resaurant was disappointing and not good value.

To find the hotel, even with a good preparation, was very difficult. Maps and information on the web are not precise enough and do not correspond to the actual situation. An actual and accurate description, hotel signs will help. We choosed this hotel because of it´s quietness (read in the comments of former visitors) which was an illusion. Hotel is near from the train rails and sleeping with an open window was not possible. Self service breakfast buffett was "italian" (no fresh cornetto, every thing, except ham and cheese, was packed). Coffee was awful (self service automat) only Italian speaking guests got a real caffé from the machine at the bar (if they were able to catch someone from the service). Service was unprofessional and we had the feeling we disturbed them.

Good accomodation, poor location. It didn't help that the taxi driver didn't know the place and charge us an outrageous amount. If you don't know where this place is, bring a printout to give to taxi drivers. And negotiate a price before going (somewhere between 20 and 25 Euro is fair from the airport). Room was fine and breakfast was good.

Our driver drove us to Naples from Amalfi Coast. I booked this hotel because it said it had shuttle service to the airport and was very close to the airport. We had to pay 25 euro for 3 people in a van that they called for us to get to the airport which was not that close. Venere.com said it was a shuttle for 10 Euro for four people. The hotel was very hard to find and our driver who knows the town very well could not find it. The area in which the Hotel is located is very very dirty, scary, and know other businesses were anywhere around it. Even our driver said it was not a safe area to be in. I was scared to death when we arrived and saw that this is where we were staying. I was truly terrified. Once we got inside the building, it was very clean, nice and seemed safe. The hotel was perfect for someone who did not care about the location being in a place with no other businesses anywhere. I would only recommend this hotel for someone who was not planning on going anywhere after they arrived. We did not get a free breakfast because they did not open until 7am and we left before that time. The front desk man, who was the only person we saw, did not speak english and we had a hard time comunicating with him. He was nice and tried very hard, but it was still hard.

Very good hotel in a poor area, breakfast poor.
