This hotel should have been easy to find. It is right on the piazza by the train station. If you look to the left from the train station entrance about 200 meters down the piazza you can see the sign; but the map is misleading. When we stayed there there was a lot of construction on the piazza and the room was very noisy during working hours but at night it was ok. This is a real bargain, one of the best in Italy.

It was a little noisy because it was the construction of metro, and very hard to rich the hotel by car. In front of the hotel it wasn't avaible to stay a few minutes. The staircase is very very narrow. For the breakfast was not crosissant, and not offered us no coffee and capuccino.

The hotel suffers from building activity on the Plaza. Renovation needed in the hallway and stairs, new carpet required

The hotel is understaffed. The rooms are small and uncomfortable. It might satisfy someone only interested in a cheap adequate clean bed. There is no elevator and a steep staircase to the rooms

Perfect location for one night while travelling through Italy. Breakfast was not very good (bad (non Italian) coffee). Rooms were ok. At night it’s in a not so nice area to go out.

We stayed there on short notice during an unexpected stop in Naples. The location (right next to the train station) was perfect and the pizzeria downstairs is excellent. The room was on the small side and the breakfast somewhat disappointing, and there was a bit of noise coming from the other rooms, but given what we paid we were very satisfied.

My first visit to Naples for 3 nights. From various earlier reviews of the hotel I was apprehensive of surroundings and services, I found both were rather excellent. Location very convenient for late night returns. Breakfast was reasonably good, more choices if you go late. Staff members were very helpful. Rooms were offered later at a lower price in Venere portal than I booked at published lowest earlier, to which Venere Customer Service did not respond. Overall Excellent and Value for Money. Thanks to both Venere and Ideal.

Excellent hotel for professional service, location and facilities, only let down was noise and the tiny bedroom, but have booked again so the positives more than made up for the negatives.

The hotel is near to the train station. However, the construction at Piazza Gribaldi during the stays do affected the area and location - dust. Welcoming was not that great by the lady receptionist. Lack of info and wanted to charge additional for a 3 year old kid stating that he should be considered as an occupant. Arguement arised as how big was the space and breakfast to be eaten by a 3 year old. As if the breakfast is something that we looked for. No free internet.

A very cheap, but very nice and clean hotel. Good value for money! I would definitely stay there again and recommend this hotel to others.

***DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL*** Awful location. Being that close to the train station promotes continuous bootlegger sales, harassment, and excess noise from traffic and people at all hours of the night. There are heaping mounds of trash on almost every street corner as well as surrounding the hotel entrance. There's also massive construction going on ten feet from the hotel entrance. The hotel area is extremely unsafe. Local vendors advised us NOT to wear rings, necklaces, or any type of expensive clothing due to the high level of crime. Prepare to carry your luggage at least one flight of stairs because there is no lift (elevator). The rooms are small. When sitting on the toilet, your face will literally be in the sink. Heat and hot water are controlled by the hotel and is only offered between certain hours of the day (during my one night stay, I had neither). My complaints were met with total disdain. I was told, "We can get you another room or you can leave. It's the same either way for me." This was the worst hotel experience of my life.

Great location, though Piazza Garibaldi itself is undergoing a major reconstruction. I was a bit taken aback by how small the room and bed were initially. However, it suited me fine and the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the barman in the cool 1st floor bar.

Wonderful location, helpful staff. Did not use breakfast facility The only complaint is that the "Free Internet access" comes with a surcharge of 3 Euros assessed by the bartender. We would have bought a drink anyhow, but the manner in which the bartender demand the 3 euros made for an unpleasant experience. Even so, the location and low cost make the Ideal a great bargain. However, the Hotel Iris (very near central station also) was even better value!

This is Fawlty Towers in Naples. Check in at noon and ask for access to free internet. Had to wait till 7 p.m. for the bar to open and pay Euros 3 for a drink to get one hour free. After that pay by the hour. You need an appetite to eat breakfast and they give you exercise by walking away from the table with the cereal to get a bowl from the other side of the cavern, then back for the cereal, then across the room to get the milk, back across the room again to get the sugar and spoon. The ham is like spam - even some Italian guests left it uneaten, and the coffee - just awful. However, the staff are very friendly and helpful and I did get free internet by demanding to see the manager and pointing out that free wifi should not require purchasing a drink..

Hotel near Napoli Centrale, because of it noisy. But what can you find more for 42 eur in summer. In general OK for 1 night stay in Napoli but not longer.

The hotel was "ideal" well situated for all public transport, including airport transfer. Spoiled a bit by the massive construction site just outside, but that won't be there forever. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

Our room (# 40) was small but clean and quiet. Bathroom very clean, daily changed nice towels and all appliances working. Hotel personnel very nice. Breakfast rich enough and the attendant (at night barman) warm and ready to help. The position of the hotel, very close to the main train station is, certainly, IDEAL. The neighborhood doesn’t look good, because of the works done in Piazza Garibaldi, but at any moment I didn’t feel unsafe; of course we had run around all day long and slept at night. With prices hard to beat, this hotel is a good choice for serious travelers looking for a cheap good place to rest after a long day of chasing all the Naples’s Bay marvels

This hotel is situated perfectly for those that wish to travel by train or bus. My friend and I managed to navigate our way to Pompie, Sorrento and Capri using public transport - which works out cheaper than buying tours. Only downside was the amount of people raking bins nearby and being asked to purchase the ubiqutous Prada and Gucci bags for the bargain price of 10 euros. The hotel was very clean and offered all the basic requirements for a city break.

The staff at this hotel were excellent. The breakfast was not good quality food in fact it was so processed we didn't eat breakfast there after the first day. What about some fresh fruit, wholemeal bread etc.The breakfast was really unhealthy and full of sugars. There was a TV in the corner blasting out music the whole time people were having their breakfast. Why do we have to have a TV in the breakfast room? Totally unnecessary and very annoying when I imagine that first thing in the morning people just want to have their breakfast in peace and/or talk to their friends and family and other guests.

Generally it was a good stay, although several things need to be said: room is quite dusty, but it likely could be explained by the reconstruction work ongoing just besides the hotel. So be prepared to get a dose of the constructions’ and tractors’ noise in early morning as well. Breakfast is free but considerably modest – just coffee/tee, coffee-cakes, jelly and cereals. Parking is also expensive – 16,5 EUR a day!

Hotel Ideal was very adequate, but beware there is NO lift, so you will have to take your luggage up the stairs. A fairly narrow staircase, and the breakfast room is in the basement - another flight of stairs. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, but this is probably not the place if you have any mobility problems

Literally right next to the train station, this is a hotel of convenience but not much more. With friendly and competent staff and ok rooms, the price is fair. But the noise and hubbub of the grungy piazza was not left behind when we were in our room (it was still quite loud) and the bathroom was quite interesting- a shower curtain that did not reach the floor thus the shower flooded the bathroom every time it was used and the mildewy curtain attacked you when using the toilet. And don't count on the breakfast being anything edible- you are better off picking up a macchiato and pastry outside the hotel.
