I was alone, but I was given a double room. I had requested a quiet room, and it was relatively quiet, because it overlooked a sort of courtyard. The view was awful, however, and windows were wisely kept closed. Breakfast was frugal, but OK (the attending lady was vey kind). I stayed two nights, and for some reasons the first morning there was no sufficient hot water to take a shower (there was plenty the following morning). Although there wi-fi is available, I was unable to connect.

This hotel is just steps away from the central trains station, which has it's good and bad points. Great to base out of to go see Pompeii. Also, we arrived on New Year's Eve and the concierge let us go up on the roof to watch the fireworks. Nothing like Naples for New Year's Eve!

While the location is a little bit noisy - right near the station, and facing a noisy main road - the hotel is well soundproofed, and inside it is clean and functional. It offers excellent value for money, and it is ideally situated for visits to Herculaneum and Pompeii, being so close to the station. The breakfast was also a cut above the usual "continental" one of toast and croissants, though go early to make sure that items haven't run out.

Beds were like sleeping on box springs. Pillows were about 3-4 inches thick and seemed like heavy cardboard with cotton batting. Could not bend them. air conditioner was controlled by office. We asked (begged)3 times to lower the temp and each time they said they would. Our phone didn't work so we couldn't call the desk. The staff had changed every time we went to the desk. They kept it set at 27C (80.6F). It was about 95F the day and a half we were there. Humidity about 100%. Couldn't open the window due to noise (people and honking) and smells. Prostitutes within 20 feet of hotel entrance. Aggressive street vendors. 2-inch cockroach on our wall. Argument with desk clerk about our "mini-bar". Actually a little basket with small box of peanuts, pack of crackers etc. We thought it was complimentary. We took peanuts and crackers. He said we had a price list for mini-bar. We said we did not have a list. He showed us his desk copy and insisted we had one. We finally prevailed and did not have to pay the 4 euros. They were not helpful providing information about restaurants, transportation. We will never go to Naples again and discourage anyone else from going. Sidewalks were filthy with cigarettes, trash, and various excrement. Taxi driver held our luggage hostage until we came up with an extra 10 euros. He had quoted us 25 euros for trip from airport then wouldn't give us our luggage until we paid 10 more. Surcharge!

We enjoyed this hotel very much. An excellent value for the money. Right in the middle of everything at Piazza Garibaldi, the bus station is across the street, there's a supermarket across the street and a 30 minute walk to most of the things you want to see (Spaccanapoli, Palazzo Reale, etc.). Staff was very courteous and welcoming, spoke Engtalian just like I do, and you can use their computers for 2.50 euro for an hour to check e-mail if you don't bring your laptop. The furnishings are all next to new and well kept and the bathroom was spacious. Overall an excellent place to stay but do bring earplugs as the noise from the street is constant and if you're a light sleeper it will bother you.

This is a pretty unromantic part of Naples (which doesn't seem to be a terribly romantic city to begin with). I live in rougher neighborhood in Chicago and didn't feel great about the area this hotel is in. I'd describe it as an international dumpster, but what do I know? We travel on a budget, but next time we'll spring for a hotel near the castles in the center of town. The rooms are fine, but we had a tough time sleeping through the late-night birthday karaoke party nearby.

As I read in some other guests' comments, breakfast is monotonous and limited. As far as the other facilities , the relationship between price/quality was excellent.

This hotel is excellent value for the money. We stayed three days and it suited us perfectly: a short walk from the train station, easy to get to the principle sites we were interested in, staff were pleasant and helpful.

We had a family visit to Naples to celebrate my husband's birthday, so wanted a cheap but comfortable hotel to accomadate us and our two teenaged sons. The price reflected the "interesting" location just off Piazza Garibaldi - definately the "EastEnd" of Naples! Use the bus from the airport to travel into Naples - 3 Euro each, takes about 15 - 20 mins and drops off in Piazza Garibaldi 5 mins walk from the hotel and the pick up point back to the airport is across the road. Hotel is very well decorated and maintained, and has the bonus of a lift to all floors; breakfast a simple buffet affair, but consistant with an Italian tourist grade hotel - the lady in charge seemed a little formidable, but knew everyone's preference for tea or coffee the second day; very efficient! If you can, get room 116; a double room with the window opening onto the flat roof. We had a birdseye view of the (many!) comings and goings on the side-street; this is not the place to stay if you can't take a noisy environment! Piazza Garibaldi is also a train terminus; it is easy to get out to visit the sites of Herculaneum, Pompeii and the Vesuvius National Park. On the opposite corner of the piazza, take Corso Umberto I straight down to Piazza Municipio, where the Castel Nuovo stands (worth a visit) and pick up the open top bus - there are 3 tours, all included for 22 Euro - but make sure you take the blue coastal route through the posher "west End" of town and out to Posillipo; you get great views out over the Gulf of Napoli to Vesuvius, Sorrento and Capri. Eating at night around Hotel Eden has slim pickings - you need to head back towards Piazza Vittoria for the harbour side restaurants, but there were a couple of places that we ate in on the south side of Garibaldi which served up good pizzas and fish. And if you like a bargain, there are loads of street sellers with "genuine" designer-style handbags, belts and sunglasses - worth having a haggle!

An excellent hotel! We stayed for 3 nights. This hotel is far superior to it's surroundings. The street surroundings are definitely un-lovely but the proximity to the train station made it a great choice for us, as we wanted to take the train to Pompeii, which is the only reason we were in Naples. We arrived in the evening and on our first walk out to find a restaurant, we were at first a little wary of the individuals loitering about the street vendors. This soon passed and we relaxed and never felt unsafe. Crossing the street...just go for it, as cars will not stop otherwise.

hotel eden is the best hotel that i have stay so far in naples. the room is neat, spacious, the way the bed was made is attractive, the lift is very neat and beautiful, though at the night time is a bit noisy and the surroundings is very full of dirt and beggars.

We stayed in a lovely double room at the front of the hotel with two balconies and a modern ensuite. The room size was more than adequate and it was spotlessly clean. The continental buffet breakfast was very nice. If traffic noise is a concern, it might be better to ask for a room away from the main road. The hotel is in walking distance from the main train station (Piazza Garibaldi), even with luggage. The hotel is in a poor part of the city so you may encounter more beggars and people selling goods than in other areas, but an assertive 'no' seemed to be sufficient to deal with these.

Staff has a little English. do not listen well and are not helpful with problems in rooms. One of our rooms had an oder of a dead animal and it was hard to get the room changed because the staff said the problem was cleared up. Hotel is in a bad location for street crime according to local police.

There is no doubt we had a good time in the hotel, very good location if you use the train service, the area is a bit crowded and noisy, but that's always the case close to staion. Overall service was very good, staff was friendly but need to be a bit more warm and forthcoming. We will definitely recommend it for a short visit.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and our trip to Naples. Location was fairly close to the train station but somehow we couldn't find the place and then realized we were almost in front of it. The breakfast was very good and the hotel was very modern. Very helpful front desk staff - they gave us some very useful directions. It may seem funny but we found a great Chinese restaurant next door -useful on a rainy evening. Definitely recommend this place.

Our family (kids: 20,17,10) stayed at the Eden hotel for five nights just before Easter. The hotel was just as we expected, nice, clean and spacious rooms. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with cereal, bread rolls, croissant etc which is not the case at many other hotels in Italy. Just make sure to be at breakfast before 10 because they lock the room promptly. The hotel is right next door to Garibaldi station so we could easily walk from there even with all our luggage. Taxis are always in front of the station along with the busses which we preferred after our one and only trip with the metro. The Circumvesuviana train which leaves from Garibaldi is excellent when you want to visit Pompei, Vesuvius and Sorrento. The neighbourhood is not the best one with lots of homeless people on the street and lively "business" on the street corners. During the day we felt perfectly safe but in the evenings maybe a little less so. The hotel on the other hand had great security so that was nice. The noise from the traffic in the morning woke us all pretty early but then again this was Italy :-) I would definately recommed this hotel to those who intend to see things in and around Naples just remember that this is not the best neighbourhood you could find...
Group
Hungary, Feb 2007
We had a large (20 people) young group in Naples, mainly to visit the most popular places like Pompei, Capri, Vezuv and of course Naples. Our biggest issue was, how to find a nice, but low budget Hotel for this group, and I can tell you - Hotel Eden was a perfect choice. Value for the price! The interior is brand new and clean, same for the rooms: clean and comfortable ones, and very nice stuff if you need help. Breakfast is not like in Marriott, but you get what you pay for. Still OK. The quietness, if you have a street side room - it can be an issue, but the garden side ones are OK. You can use the safe box in the room (free of charge). The Hotel has a good location from travel point of view. But - as it is a general problem in Naples, when you step outside you find yourself on a very rubbishy street - and the square is the same. Many people selling stuff there, you can find anything you want - but better if you don't stop. In general: We felt safe during the 4 days we spent there. Very good food, but not easy to find a good restaurant around the Hotel. Good location for travel around in the region, very clean and good feeling when you return after a long day. Advised.

This was a return visit for us. Location was perfect as we were just passing through Naples on our way to Pompeii. Staff was just as pleasant, everything was just as nice. Once again, they kept good care of our luggage while we were out for the day, and it was an easy matter to retrieve it before catching our return train. Breakfast included a choice of protein sources, which is important for us. I could do without the MTV playing on the flat screen in the breakfast room. They still have lousy pillows, but that is really my only complaint with their facility! The mattress on the single bed appeared to be one of those memory foam ones, and my daughter loved it!

We're a family of 3, two adults and a baby, we had a triple room (paid for the baby as an extra adult!) the surroundings were dodgy, but the hotel itself is very clean, tidy and quiet, helpful staff, we stayed there for 1 night only so it was convenient being near the central station, pretty good considering the area and its reputation.

The hotel is located a few steps from the main railroad station that is very convenient. The hotel does not offer internet connection. The hotel staff could be a bit friendlier and breakfast could be a bit better. During this visit to Italy this time, we stayed in different hotels in different cities and Eden definitely was not the best of them. Though if you need a hotel just to sleep at night, it is fine.

The close proximity to the train station was extremely convenient, and not as noisy as we thought. [There is a difference depending on which street your room faces.] Lots of street hustlers outside, but well-lit and populous. Not a good idea for a single traveler, but we felt safe with two or more. The breakfast was welcome, as it included more than just bread and coffee...yea for protein! Decor appeared freshly redone, everything clean and neat. Beds were not bad, but pillows were lousy; showers were adequate, but not great. The scented TP was over the top! The desk attendants were pleasant and helpful with maps, metro instructions, and even some English! They let us leave our luggage during the day prior to our overnight train ride back to Milan. A good deal for the money: we would definitely go back!

The accomodations at the Eden were just as I expected from the pictures I had seen of the room online. The employees were very helpful and courteous and the location of the hotel is very convenient. My only complaint would be the air conditioning did not quite keep us cool enough for our liking. Since we are from the south in the U.S.,it is unfortunate, but we do expect the air conditioning to be at a higher level of coolness.

Hotel far exceed my expectations, recently refurbished, very tasteful and spotless clean unlike the surrounding area of the Termini. But very central for shopping and further travel. Although the staff spoke English they did have some problems understanding us and were not very helpful when we had a problem using the phone. It would be a good idea for them to have a first aid box on site. I had a very bad headache in the middle of the night and they had no asprin or anything when I called reception. But would certainly recommend the hotel to friends and use again when in Naples.

Was extremely pleased with hotel Eden, it certainly was surprising lovely. Rooms are clean and as the photo shows bathrooms huge and spotless. It is true that the area around the hotel is not the nicest part of Naples , but we (2 women) had no problems at all. The hotel is perfectly located within easy walking distance from the bus stop in Piazza Garibaldi and again great to get onto the trains or curcimvesuviana lines. Would definatly stay there again and recommend the hotel to all types of travellers.

This is a very convenient location for rail travel. I am from NYC/US so the reputation of Napoli was not an issue, nor was the reality of the location a problem. The bed was firm and very comfortable. The room, though small, was very servicable and everything in the room was to my satisfaction. While the remodeling is almost complete, the indicated Internet services are NOT available. There are 3 computer desks on the second floor, but they are empty. No RJ45 jacks, nor wifi signals were detectable in my room. The staff was competant, spoke good Englsh, and were pleasant to deal with. For the price, I would definately stay here again, though Internet access would make my stay more productive in the future.
