Having lived in Italy before, the hotel was reminiscent of a typical apartment. If you're wanting a hotel that looks like a hotel from the exterior, this isn't it. Once inside, it was fine. The water pressure was weak at typical tourist shower times (ie 9 AM). One morning, my shower stopped for about 15 seconds. When showering at non-typical times (around 6 AM, in the evenings), it was a non-issue. The shower doesn't drain well. The room itself was huge, with cathedral ceilings. There was a chest and a small spot for hanging clothes (and a few hangers). Since I was to be in Naples for 10 days, I wanted to be central but not near the train station, but as cheap as possible. This location and price worked well for me. The bus and metro were less than a half-mile away, and I enjoy walking. The lobby is up a flight of stairs (with no elevator). The front desk was manned 24/7 and were very friendly.

The actual property was nice the Staff was great but the surroundings were awful. I don't know if there was a garbage strike going on ( I've heard that is common) but the streets were full of rotting food and smelled horrible. At night it was pretty niosey with moter cycles and auto niose. But we were so tured it didn't keep us from sleeping. And the staff made this a very tolerable situation.

Whilst this is a very good, cheap hotel right in the Centro Storico, it's not too near to the subway system and taxi's aren't as freely available as here in London. The rooms are large with high ceilings, spotless bathrooms and quiet. No Wifi, The hotel PC Internet is fairly expensive €5 p.h. (no printer).

The staff is extremely knowledgeable of Naples and the surrounding sites and attractions. They gave excellent directions for train connections, bus connections and taxi access. The hotel is located in the middle of the city, so the rooms are not quiet; however, the city noise is part of the Naples city life, which we wanted to experience. This location is great for local shops, the Naples subterranean tour and great night life.

We stayed three nights. Naples was slightly scary - there was a rubbish collecters' strike and a lot of armed police out on the streets. However, inside the hotel we felt very secure and welcome, and the local people were all welcoming. There were plenty of places to buy good food and anything else we wanted. It was convenient for the station. Not an area I'd personally want to stay out late in.

Pulito, grande camere e in centro città.

This hotel is not anywhere near the train station. It is difficult to find. The entry is a courtyard full of rubble from the construction going on. The shower drain did not work. We stayed only 1 night instead of the two booked and of course could not get a refund. When this building is remodeled, it may be O.K. Do not stay there now!

The entrance to this hotel is quite tricky to find, especially if it is dark. The stairway isn't very welcoming, all seemed quite dirty and weren't sure which we had to go. The staff were welcoming though and the room and bathroom was clean. Good if you just want a one or two night stay in Naples. Location is excellent.

This hotel is hidden, if not for the taxi driver that swore that the address was correct, we would have turned and gone somewhere else. Rooms very big for typical italian rooms, clean, and sorta quiet, except for the building four ft. from window and the people shouting from their windows.Drain in shower clogged, had to turn off shower while showering or would flood bathroom.Shower doors would not completely close. Tv remote would not work, and tv up to high on wall to reach, but next day it was fixed but picture quality was horrible.Desk guy did book us a driver to take us to Pompeii, that was a wonderful help. They also called us a taxi to take us to the dock. It would have been nice to know that we could use the internet for free and at anytime. We were very happy to discover the computer on our second day. Left a day early, garbage strike and we hated the insanity of Naples. Would not recommend any hotel in Naples for the faint of heart!!

A great little hotel in the heart of a vibrant city. Hotel Duomo is perfectly located on a main road close to good restaurants and shopping, as well as fascinating places of interest. The area is very safe, has bags of character, and is about 15 minutes walk from the main train station. The hotel staff are really friendly and helpful, the rooms are simple but very clean and although the beds are a bit too hard for my taste, the standard of the rooms is much higher than the price and star rating would suggest. I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to spend a few days in this wonderful city.

Brilliant location in the heart of the old quarter. Is about a 10 min walk to the train station and 15 to the ferry port so brilliant location for getting out and about. Facilities good room nice and big and cleaned every day. Loads of amazing pizza restaurants literally up the street and take a left you won't believe the quality or the low price at 3 euros a pizza. At the price for this accomodation I have absolutely no complaints. Would recommend to anyone looking for budget accomodation in the Naples area.

Hotel Duomo is a great place to stay if you are on a budget. It's close to the centre of Naples (just around the corner), has huge rooms with big showers and good sized beds. Downsides - the drain in the shower constantly blocked, it only trickled water and the tv did not work properly. The day manager (a young guy) was super friendly and helpful. Recommended if you are watching your budget and are after a good, standard place to rest.

Welcome was nice enough. Toilet leaked and smelled. Shower recess was blocked and flooded. Bed was hard. Noisy - footsteps of other guests on hardwood floors and neighbours in the next building 12cm away. Overall not really impressed with Naples itself. Dirty, noisy, chaotic. Good pizza though :P Pass through here to get to Pompeii but I wouldn't bother staying a night if I were to return to Italy.

Don't be alarmed when you see the hotel facade for the first time! it looks like a dump but fear not-- proceed up the stairs and voila-- it ain't so bad after all! our triple hotel room was spacious. great location, within walking distance to the Archaelogical Museum and Via Tribunali. Close enough to the train station that you could walk it (we ended up walking from the train station to the Duoma Hotel, luggage and seven year old in tow because the taxi drivers were scammers-- they were quoting their fare instead of using the meter.

The Albergo Duomo's accommodation is simple, but clean, spacious and light - a perfect, peaceful haven from the chaos of Napoli! The receptionist (Luigi) was wonderful - very welcoming, helpful and with some great ideas for things to do in & around Napoli. The public living room area was great, with lounge chairs, books, a chess set and a TV. The hotel is very well situated, close to the Archaelogical Museum (well worth a visit)and other sights. We'd definitely recommend it to anyone going to Naples!

Hotel Duomo was the perfect spot to eat at the many famous pizzerias in Naples. The location was why I chose it. The room was nice, but the bed was not so good and the heat went off a little early for us in the mornings. Not super quiet, but we were in the heart of Naples. One of the staff was super helpful with restaurant and food recommendations. I recommend this hotel and would return.

Easy to get to from Molo beverello: hop on tram 1 then walk 500 metres. Easy to get to railway station: hop on bus R1 and get off at Nicola Amore square then walk 100 metres. From the airport get on Alibus for 20 euro and hop off at railway station. Great value for money and excellent location.

Excellent choice at the historical heart of Napoli. Warm welcome and full disponibility of employees to any information, change or need you have. The hotel is an island of relative luxury compared to the surrounding buildings. The receptionists are eager to help and check your satisfaction each day (although knowing Italian is a big advantage). The room(s) seem recently renovated and are cleaned daily. Our room had its windows towards an internal court (or shaft), which was not much to look at; nevertheless we did not spend too much time looking out the window but wandering around the city. There were some pigeons doing the early wake-up call each day which could be heard through the closed windows, but it was far less annoying than if we had our windows to the _VERY_ noisy city streets. The bathroom was clean and modern, but it had a perceptibly unpleasant smell (maybe it was some improper plumbing that allowed the sewer "odours" to sneak back). Furthermore there were no hooks at all to hang your night-robes and what-nots, no shelf for the cosmetics and the shower cabine lacked the soap support and had a fixed shower rosette. We would have also appreciated a fridge (even a shared one). Our overall feeling was quite positive, as we were lodged in the heart of the Historical Centre, close to the Dome and the Via del Tribunale (with lots of pizza and ice-cream places) and also close to a "small super-market" (Conand). The quality of the services and of the stay was over the price charged.

Stayed in a double room in Hotel Duomo, and it was such great value for the price! It was huge, had sky tv, ceiling fan and ensuite shower room. The staff were so friendly and helpful, suggesting places to go to eat etc. It is a little bit hard to locate from the street, and from the outside the building and entrance doesn't look that nice (that's Naples...) but inside it's great. It's also just down the road from the main streets with bars and restaurants in the historic quarter. Would definitely stay here again, just wish they did breakfast.

our first trip to Naples and Duomo lived up to all its good reviews. The staff could not have been more helpful, even taking care of our luggage while we killed time waiting for a ferry. The room was very spacious and very clean and while Naples itself is very grungy, this boutique little hotel was an oasis. The location was very convenient, we walked to station(not with bags), museums and waterfront. My wife and I would definitely stay there again. Thank you Salvatore and the rest of the staff.

- zentral, ruhig, geräumig, sauber, freundlich, einfache englische Kommunikation... Get it ;-) - &by the way ist es gar kein Problem mit Kreditkarte zu zahlen...

Due to the immediate surrounding (very down-to-earth part of Naples) and the look of building, we were a bit apprehensive when entering the courtyard of the hotel. However, we were very pleasantly suprised after entering the room: very clean, spacious, quiet and a nice bathroom. Also the service at the reception was very good and attentive, e.g. we had arrived early at the hotel when the room was not ready yet, so we just got changed and headed out leaving our bags in their care. When we returned at the end of the day, we found that our bags had already been moved to our room (something I would not take for granted in other hotels of this price category). The hotel was great for heading out by train to places like Pompei and Sorrento, for the ferries to the islands but also for walks in the immediate historical neighbourhood. (Also the taxi to the airport from here costs only € 16 on metre.) Enjoyed walking down the pedestrian zone towards the Piazza de Nilo and Gesu and taking in the atmosphere on a Sunday morning. It was also great to have a totally quiet, undisturbed room at night (rare for Naples?). Also some nice historical photographs of Naples to see in the corridors. For this hotel, it's really a case of 'don't judge a book by its covers'!

First time visitors, pay attention to address and hotel sign specially if you're coming late in the evening. You must locate the buzzer button under the hotel sign because the gates are locked after a certain time in the evening. Piano in Italian meant floor, I guess. You need to take the gray marble steps on the left side as you enter. There was no street sign on the corner building on Umberto and an on-going construction as well, ask for the street name so as not to get lost. I noticed Italians go out of their way to help you. Not too far from the Napole Centrale station but can be challenging if you're carrying a heavy luggage. Overall, it's a good deal, busy area but relatively safe. BTW, all hotels almost look the same.

This was a great location in a friendly, secure and well run hotel. Breakfast was not included but there are a number of bars close by, recommend Tico. Also a good, inexpensive family run restaurant in the piazza across the street. We had a bad experience with this hotel. We wanted to leave one day earlier than originally reserved. At first, they said no problem. Then the next day, they got nasty, snatched our key away so we could not get to our room and belongings, and forced us to pay for the last night. In a blink, the employee went from nice guy to mafioso. We wanted to speak to the manager to explain the situation (we remained the polite the whole time), but they wouldn't let us. Just very unprofessional. We felt it was especially uncalled for since the night in question was in fact the "White Night" of Naples when more than a million people flooded into the city for the music. Rerenting the room that night no doubt would have been a simple matter. On top of it, the bed was poor quality and squeaked considerably, the shower drain was plugged, and the lighting in the room was awful. These people want your money, that's all that matters to them.

The hotel Duomo, even being clean (the room) and quiet, in my view has more bad points than good ones. First, it´s located in a mess area, the center of Napoli. Then there are 3 big stairs until you find the albergo, so if you are carrying a big bag forget it. Then you go for a shower in the bathroom and in a glance the floor is flooded!!!! Water is everywhere!!! Surely I will pay a bit more and stay in a better hotel in Napoli the next time I go back there!

Looks very rough and forbidding from outside but was nice and clean once in through the security gate. The owners were very friendly and helpful throughout the stay. the hotel is apparently to get a makeover in the summer and air conditioning is to be added to all rooms, which in the Naples heat is much needed. For the price and position I would reccommend this hotel.

The hotel is in a good location for the old quarter of Naples, being very near to the Duomo (cathedral). There is no breakfast included in the price of the hotel, but there are some excellent coffeeshops nearby where you can pick up a pastry. There is no air conditioning, but the fan was adequate. Although they provided towels and cleaned the room every day, they didn't actually change the towels for the whole time we were there (4 nights). One has to pay in cash, no credit cards.

This Hotel should not be classified as a Hotel but as an Albergo. The first impression is somehow depressing, you enter an old building and must climb some stairs to find the "hotel". However the room was clean and confortable. Towels are changed every day, and the hotel is well located near to the most important buildings in Naples. Considering the cost I think it is a good option.

Bathroom is badly in need of an upgrade - and the neon lighting is not really welcoming...

We stayed at Duomo 18-22 April 2004, it was a perfect hotel for us, as we were exploring the historic part of the city. You can get almost everywere by foot, it is in the centre and close to the station, port and was inexpensive. The rooms were clean, the service good. Every room had a shower, which was nice. Good overall stay.

It was extremely welcoming. The rooms were very clean with fresh towels every day. The family running the hotel were very friendly and very informative regarding the area. The price was very reasonable and I would happily stay there again.

said in literature that all rooms were quiet but we had noise from traffic and barking dogs all night. There was a shelf above the bed which I banged my head on several times and which could have been dangerous. There was a spring sticking out of the mattress which was catching against my skin and so could also have been dangerous. Overall, we felt that the room was expensive and overpriced for what we got and didn't include breakfast.

For the money paid for this room, I believe we could have definitely had a better deal. The reviews in the guides to naples we bought, defined this hotel as 'a bit grotty, but they're doing a refurb', I presumed that as this guide was from early in 2003, and the pictures on the web were pleasant, that this refurb had happened. Our room was huge, room 113, but the furniture had definitely had its day. It did not look like the pictures whatsoever. I saw room 112 and that was exactly like ours, so I was a bit irate that they were advertising a particular kind of quality on the internet that did not live up to expectation. The bathroom was badly designed, with the shower completely soaking the floor no matter what we did, as the shower rail was a bigger size than the shower stand, so the curtains didn't sit instead the shower. The hot water system was very moody, and you had to have a certain way of coaxing the hot water to the taps. Once they hadn't even turned the hot water on, and we had to go and complain. The reception on the television was dreadful. The room wasn't too noisy, but it was near the common area, and on a couple of nights we did get slightly disturbed by people being up. The people running the hotel were cheerful and friendly, but we wouldn't use this hotel again, it was expensive for what it was. Its central, its in the Spaccanapoli district which is amazing and manic, its near the metro, near a whole host of must-do's in Naples, but if you do stay there, make sure that you request a room like in the photos, and refuse to pay the price unless you get it.

The central heating was not kept on and we had to claim every day for it to be put on and event then was not sufficient at night. Same for hot water. AN dwe=hen we left the price requested was higher than the quote. But the employees were so kind that we still are satisfied with our stay...

You're looking for a big metal gate with a buzzer for the hotel beside it when you arrive, not a hotel! The hotel itself is at the back of the building away from the street, which means the rooms are quieter than they might be. Staff were helpful and pleasant, the room was very spacious with a king size bed and TV (i saw some other rooms and they all seemed to be very similar). Furnishing was basic, bathroom wasn't great, (the shower was temperamental to say the least), but for the price this is a good option for a clean, reasonably quiet place to sleep.
