We stayed for a total of 5 nights, and found Albergo del Golfo to be the perfect location for going to the Central Station (for taking trains to Pompeii and Amalfi) as well as the port Molo Beverello (where you’ll be taking the ferry to Capri and other islands). Also within walking distance to other major locations such as Piazza del Plebiscito and Royal Palace. It is easy to find once you locate where you are in relation to Piazza Bovio. The area is where the locals shop and live, so we had no issues walking back to the hotel at night after dinner. Everybody at the Hotel – day and night staff – are very friendly and helpful. We got everything we needed, exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and service. I would recommend this place to any friend of mine.

The blanket in our room was dirty (really ugly). The bassin in the bathroom was blocked. Thr breakfast was very modest, the coffe machine was diety and you could find rotten fruits on the table. Furthermore there were renovation works going on during our stay. The hotel manager is very unfriendly.

The hotel has an excellent location to explore the historic center of Naples and to reach the port. Other reviews state that it is in a bad neighborhood, but I do not agree. Not at any time did I feel unsafe with my husband and children. I think travelers need to take Naples for the city that it is. We had a lovely visit there. The rooms were clean and large. There was a bit of a language barrier with the staff, but we managed fine. The breakfast was nice - usual continental breakfast offered with good coffee and croissants, fruit, yogurt, juice, cereal, etc. The room was loud, but again, it's Naples.

I booked 2 bedrooms, one single, one double: in the single room the air conditioner was working when I arrived at 2pm. I asked for it to be stopped. When I returned at 9pm it was still on and the room was freezing the night watch man could not stop it. next night the automatic electric system was not working.the room and bathroom remained in the dark.(No window in the room)A small bedside lamp provided some light. On both nights I was asked to go up 3 times the 3rd floor to go and check that the equipment was not working before the person in charge went up to see by himself! The double bedroom was occupied by only one person instead of a couple unable to come because of a death ( a notice was sent ahead) However Breakfast for two people was charged for the two nights. We encountered bad will and little help in front of these disagreements, incomprehensible for a hotel devoted to tourism and placed in a convenient location to visit the city. A commercial gesture would have been justified

We highly recommend this hotel -- its a really high-standard 3-star. The 4-person room was great: spacious, clean, good bathroom. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location for discovering Napoli, close to the bus and metro routes. Don't be put off by the immediate environs, they are typically Napoli city centre streets i.e. a little scruffy -- but nothing to be concerned about. When we come back to Napoli, we'll definitely be staying here!!!

The hotel looks unimpressive from the outside on a scruffy side street. However as soon as you enter, you realise that it has had a significant overhaul in recent years. The style is modern and well designed. The room was large and everything worked. We had a small misunderstanding with the owner over the number of rooms booked, but this amicably resolved. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, this is a stylish hotel. The breakfast was poor, but then again, breakfast is not something the Italian hotels do well. I would recommend this hotel

The rooms are recently renovated and are very fresh, the rooms are also very big. The whole property is very clean. It was quite hot outside during our stay but the air conditioning was very efficient so the inside temperature was comfortable. I arrived to the hotel by car, since the hotel is located only a few blocks from a main street it was relatively easily accessible by car (I didn't park in the vicinity so I can't tell about parking). The hotel is also located close to the ferry terminal for the Palermo ferry, we could easily walk to the terminal with luggage and two small children. The staff was very friendly, they don't know too much English but with some help of talking Portuguese I was able to close a deal to stay with a room until late afternoon for a reasonable fee (there were free rooms available that day). The hotel is located in Naples so it is - surprise, surprise - located by a Naples street. If you don't like dirty small streets don't go to Naples, for my part I love the Naples streets and the streetlife there. There are more posh areas of Naples but they are located more far away from were most tourists go. There is free wireless internet access in the rooms, in one room it worked OK, in the other the signal was too low, the reception borrowed a LAN-cable to us.

This hotel was perfectly fine inside, but the area not so good. OK for us as we were only staying the one night prior to our flight home from Naples the following morning. However as two females we did not feel at all safe in this area and made sure we were back in our room before dark, and got a taxi to the airport in the morning. The hotel itself was great for the money, the room tastefully decorated with 4 single beds in total and air con. The bathroom was a decent size and clean with plenty of towels. Breakfast which was included in the price was the standard continental. Overall I would say this hotel was excellent value for money but I wouldn't recommend it for single females travelling alone.

We were comfortable with room, staff and service at Hotel del Golfo. The price was fair for the good standard of hotel. Staff were helpful at all times, especially in providing us with a cable for our lap-top. Breakfast was ample for us and staff were friendly as we left the hotel and returned. While the area is not a top area, it was very conveniently placed for us arriving by train and departing by ferry also for making our way to all the places we wished to see. We were not concerned for our safety at any stage during our 4 day stay in Naples - it was magic.

I highly recommend this hotel for its location. The room was very spacious, clean with all you could need, large bed, tv and air conditioning, small fridge, desk and 2 chairs, with perfect bathroom with hairdryer and plug point for shaver, power shower, ample towels with disposable toothbrushes with paste, soap, shower gel/shampoo and shower caps. The staff will help with your needs example getting bottle water and with directions to the local places of interest. English is spoken by all the desk staff. The breakfast is a typical italian breakfast of pastry, or jam and biscuits or toast, with juices and yoghurts. Fresh coffee or hot drinks will be served you. You could not do better for the price in a city anywhere in the world.

Half way between Central Station and Piazza del Municipio, right behind Piazza Bovio, the hotel has a decent location in comparison with other hotels situated next to Central Station where we would NOT recommend you to go. The street is dirty and messy, but once you step inside everything is clean and recently renovated etc. Some small details are missing in the rooms: from a soap support in the shower booth, or a clothes hook, to slippers, or a bigger TV as the room we had was a big one, for 4 people although we were only 2, but the TV was too small and 5 meters away from the bed :) etc. Although open buffet, the breakfast is rather poor as everywhere in Italy. Indifferent staff: neither nice, neither rude.

Don't go to this hotel. I read some review from this hotel before going, but I just ignored them. Don't do that too, please! The hotel surroundings are VERY bad, even for somebody like me, who is used to very poor/dangerous cities. Travelling to Napoli can be a very nice experience if you choose the right spot to stay. The area close to the hotel is very bad and makes you want to stay in your room after the sun is gone.

Hotel itself is fairly average but clean, the hotel staff didn't speak a lot of English and weren't that forthcoming when trying to understand our attempts at Italian. The staff has limited English but you can get by. The location is excellent for visiting Naples and nearby sites such as Pompei and Capri and is a short bus ride from the main train station and close to ferry docks and out of town bus stops. The maid accidentally sent my facecloth to the laundry and it wouldn't be back before i checked out. When I went to checkout the hotel had bought me a very nice terry cloth bathrobe as compensation which probably cost them 5 times what the facecloth did and which i refused but does indicate that they do care. I would recommend this hotel for anybody looking for a reasonably priced hotel for a to visit Naples and the surrounding area.

This hotel had been undergoing a long renovation when I booked it. It's in an alley near the university just off the main street. Our room was just being finished when we checked in and in fact they had to come and put finishing touches on after we checked in. They put us in a triple room on the 3rd floor over the entrance. The room was fabulous! Breakfast is served on a beautiful roof terrace, very well appointed. I cannot say enough good things about this place! My only comment would be to have someone working the desk that speaks some English and an English tv channel for news.

Property was in the middle of renovations and will be very nice once completed. Very spacious rooms, great air conditioning, friendly staff. More of a 4 star hotel than 3 star!

This one is difficult to review as Naples itself was very dirty and in fact, quite frightening. The hotel was in a particularly seedy part of the city but once we walked through the front doors we were in another world. It was beautifully renovated with loads of marble all around. Our rooms (3 singles) were all different and all big and beautiful, complete with air con. Breakfast left a lot to be desired - nothing much to choose from but at 60 Euros per room per night, we certainly weren't complaing. Staff were a bit offhand and not very helpful or welcoming but the beautiful suroundings made it more than worthwhile. I would certainly stay there again if ever I went back to Naples which I doubt I ever will as I didn't like the city.

The hotel is one of the best I have stayed at in Europe. It really is nice, and the owner is always kind and helpful. I beleive it is well rated (3 star), and the rooms are very big and clean.

The hotel was very clean and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff were nice enough but I can speak Italian, if you don't you may struggle. Station is only 20 minutes walk away. You are at the bottom end of the 'Centro Storico' and also close to the castles in the bay, so location was a bonus. There are a couple of alternative live music bars on the same street as the hotel (invisible during the day but the street is full of their customers by night). Hotel was very good value for money and an ideal base for exploring Naples.

Easter Holiday, did not like Naples, too dirty, too noisy, arrogant waiters disrespectful of female tourist traveling alone. Capri was excellent, Pompeij very interesting. Not enough time to do the Amalfi coast. Albergo del Golfo was very clean, newly renovated, but situated in the port area (ugly).

Met our expectations with a good standard of room and an excellent breakfast. It is in an area as best described as scruffy. Be very wary of pickpockets especially on the buses!

The Hotel is on the edge of Naples city centre which makes it convenient for eating places and visiting the tourist attractions but far enough away from the noisy and busy parts of town. Rooms are comfortable, clean, big, and well furnished. Breakfast was good, fresh, nicely served and plenty of it. Eating on the terrace in November great fun for people from the north!

A good location as we could walk to the harbour the railway station and the museum, also we did not feel intimitated returning late at night. The room itself was large and very well kept but had absolutely no view from the window which was best kept closed, and the terrace for the disappointing breakfast is rather cold at this time of year.

The hotel was newly renovated and it was properly done. It is very nice. The little terrace for the breakfast area was so nice. The only thing is the personal, except one, didn't speak any English. It was hard to get any information from them. Also, in the website, it was mentioned (from what I remember) that the beach was 3 minutes away. The one in Napoli (rock beach) is really about 15 minutes away by foot and the sand beach is in Sorrento. Besides that, I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is in the historical center, close to the harbour (5 minutes on foot, 10 with a heavy suitcase), in a safe area of Naples (if there is such a thing...!). Just kidding, of course. Still, it's far enough from the railway station and Garibaldi square (meeting place of the junkies at night), so that one can come back late at night without fear. Rooms are extremely simple (there was nothing my restless toddler could destroy). It's not the best place to spend time inside but it's perfect for resting after long visits to the city: as it is near a busy circus, but just behind the large street, it is centrally located and still quiet (except for some contstruction work in a nearby building, but that is temporary). Very nice breakfast terrace. Wonderful staff, very open and communicative, ready to help with everything, including indications/reservations of budget restaurants.

It is a good hotel for Napoli. As facade is not refurbished, first impression from the street was a little scary, but the inside renovated is ok. Very quiet atmosphere, maybe at our visit the hotel was quite empty.

Albergo del Golfo in the heart of Naples' Vecchia Città (old city) is a great place to get to know and discover Naples! It is a modern and recently renovated hotel that even offers a good breakfast (a bit unusual in Italy!). Accommodations are all great, the rooms are spacious and equipped with air conditioning and the bathroom is brandnew. The hotel is centrally located which means you can visit lots of places on foot (Vecchia Città, Naples harbour from where you can take the boat to one of the islands, St. Lucia,...). We enjoyed our stay at Albergo del Golfo a lot and can recommend it to anyone!

Sorry but it's easier for me to write in french.

When I stayed in this hotel, hotel robby was renovating but my room was finished to do it. The room was wide enough to stay and very cleaned. But a breakfast was modest so I did not have it.

Our room was large and beautiful, unfortunately it wasn't finished. The hotel is still undergoing renovations and we had wires sticking out of the wall and ceiling for fixtures that weren't in yet. The bathroom had no toilet paper holder, soap dish, or shower door. The floor would get soaked whenever you showered. The site says multilingual staff, but English isn't one of their languages. I knew at least enough to get checked in. Would have been nice to have been told about breakfast, fortunately I asked the next morning and found out. There was tremendous noise from the renovation when we first arrived, but they were considerate enough to not start early in the morning. When finished this place will be great, although the neighborhood is typical Naples and doesn't look the best.

Very impressed. The only annoyances were a constantly dripping (noisy) toilet and a very small breakfast area (inadequate for number of guests). Having said that I would definatley stay there again and have recommended the hotel to my friends.

Externally the hotel looks like much of Naples - not very inviting. But internally it is great value fro money. The owners are in the course of refurbishment and the room we had was excellent. Clean spacious and contempory. It and the bathroom were far larger than is normally the case for hotels of this standard. The only minor criticism is the breakfast room is small with only 3 tables. This may be of reduced size whilst the refurbishment is being carried out but it could be a problem at busy times
