First we got an awful small, dark and bad smelling room but after complaint we were offered a great room with terrace with which we were really satisfied. Not everyones taste will be the dirty and run-down neighbourhood but it is close to everything and - well, that's Naples.

This is a very run down neighbourhood and I didn't feel very safe at night but the hotel is very convenient to public transport and once I had found it to a laundry. The hotel is old and the rooms are very ordinary but adequate. The breakfast is quite good but the Internet service poor.

Dirty bathroom, dirty walls, clean sheet though a little ripped, good bed & pillow, worn out furniture, good sound proofing. The staff was helpful and spoke English. Great breakfast (compared to Italian standards). Close to the train station but at night only one or two bars and a McDonalds are open. At night the piazza didn't seem dangerous though we could only see poor emigrants hanging out.

We were delighted by the room. It was at the 4th floor which mean the noise was reduce. We really love this hotel for the welcoming & competent receptionists, for the spacious & lovely decorated room. All décoration in public area was awwsome, too. The hotel is very well located for all transport but is bad located for the noise which mean if you have a room anywhere in the 3rd floor, it will disturb you. However we were disapointed by the service at the breakfast and dinner. Even if the breakfast was very tasty. If I would be back in Naples I would stay in that hotel again, and I would recommend it to everyone!

Perfectly acceptable hotel for using as a base to see Naples. Hotel is conveniently located for train station and bus from the airport which was important for us but is located on a busy square. Our room faced right onto the square but still managed to be very quiet at night. Perfectly safe and clean hotel.

This place was perfect for a budget traveler. The breakfast was great, so fill up for a long day of walking. The staff is certainly old school, and if they don't know the answer to a question, you won't get it! This place is a good value and I would stay there again.

Our first visit. Family overnight on the way to Pompeii. Imcomprehensible one way system sent us off into a twilight zone akin to a scene from "I am Legend". Only difference was there are more people on the streets but they are mostly prostitutes. The photo of this hotel looks great, but the hotel is less faded gentility more dereliction. Must have been grand once but needed a facelift 30 yrs ago. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming even though we arrived after midnight after our odyssey around the back streets of Naples. Breakfast was fair/good continental standard and the waiters courteous and uniformed. Rooms are clean, enormous with high ceilings, but dormitory like with hard cold floors and white empty walls. Beds clean and quite comfortable, but the childrens pillows were filled with something like fairly soft ping pong balls! [You can get cheap pillows like this from Ikea any time you like. Try it! One wash does the trick]. The hotel shakes when trains depart or arrive. What more can I say. Nice people, once grand hotel, but come on this is 2 star really.

This was a wonderful hotel; very clean rooms, we felt safe considering the area, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast was good but the selection was the same as all the other hotels in Italy (pastries, etc.) There's a McDonalds just down the street from the hotel. The hotel is a nice hotel and it's close to the train station which is why we chose this hotel. We hated Naples. It's a dirty city with garbage everywhere and the locals were extremely rude. We took an unplanned day trip to Sorento instead of seeing the attractions of Naples due to this. Horrible dirty city.

The only pro of this hotel is that it is only 100 meter from central station, but for that you have to cope with a lot of noise all day and night. Not very clean room. Carpet filthy, bathroom not very clean. Also the room was quite noisy from the traffic on the corner (honking all day at this crossroad). The reception was not very friendly, a bit blunt personel. Although the room was very hot we could not use the airconditioning, because these where shut off this time of the year. Heating radiator was broken and could not be closed which made it even worse. Breakfast was poor. Old panini and not much to choose from. I would definitely not go again to this hotel. The hotel looks like once it was a good hotel, but not anymore. Definitely not worth its stars.

I wanted a hotel convenient to transportation, and the Hotel Cavour suited me very well. The staff were friendly and helpful when needed; the breakfast was excellent; noise was not a problem, even in a lower floor room with windows above the street. Very good value for the price.

Infine ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo...Hotel Cavour promosso a pieni voti!!!

We stayed for 7 nights in Cavour. The location is excellent near the trainstation and city centre. The room was clean, spacious and not noisy. We were lucky that we also had a big roofterrace with privacy and a good view on the city and Vesuvius. There is a little fridge in the room for a cold wine. Breakfast is reasonable. Napels, Pompei, Amalfi are great. The neighbourhood was not as bad as we expected after reading other reviews. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel!

Very handy for the bus and train station, although somewhat noisy (vibrant). Spectacular view from the top floor balconies, especially of the sunrise behind Mt. Vesuvius at 5 in the morning! Good value for money if you're moving on from Naples.

This hotel is an oasis next to the dirty streets of Naples. If you read this and haven't booked days in Naples, think about not going to Naples. This town sucks, Pompeii is cool but not worth the trip and time in Naples. The breakfast was above average and there was a large balcony overlooking dumpy Naples. The staff was helpful and the hotel is only a few blocks from the train station.

Loved this hotel--the staff were the best, and so great with English language and directional information, etc. Our room was large, clean, and updated soft-furnishings, but with an old-timey feel. We had a large terrace with a view over the city of Naples, the surrounding hills, and the sea. The bathroom was large and clean--white-tiled, good shower. Good breakfast- meats, cheeses, breads, etc. The hotel restaurant was quite good too.

Hotel is located in the very centre. The Plaza Garibaldi is not the most beautiful place in Naples, but it is very easy to get around, 3 min. to Central Station and walking distance to old town (15 min). Good choice!

Good location to explore the Gulf of Napoli with public transport (metro, train, ship, bus to airport)or napoli by walking, hotel/rooms are old but quite clean, staff friendly. Good hotel in a vivid area, but after our two-night stay in Cavour we really enjoyed the peace and tranquility at Amalfi Coast...

I chose Cavour because it was situated so that I could walk to the destinations I planned to visit on the full day I was there on my two night stay. This aspect was fine. I could easily walk to the Duomo and Via Gregorio Armeni, the street of the Christmas stores. The hotel is very near the central railroad station, which made it very easy for me to walk to the station the morning I left. However, this is not a great part of town so the fact that the hotel had its own restaurant right next door also made it attractive to me since I was traveling alone and would not have to wander to find dinner. Also the food was very good and very reasonable. The breakfast provided by the hotel was also very good. The single room I had was rather small and cramped, but I don't spend too much time in the hotel room anyway. If my plans for Naples were similar next time, I would not hesitate to stay there again.
