Hotel Britannique - Naples

Great hotel, wonderful staff very giving of their time for directions, recommendations, highlights not to miss, areas to avoid, and did everything to make us feel comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel but Napoli needs time on foot to discover its hidden treasures. Prepare to walk and be ready to run across streets. The neighborhood at the hotel is safe but not much happening after the sun goes down. Not a lot of nearby restaurants, so again, prepare to walk. The interior of the hotel is grand and it has a great history but the rooms are becomming a bit dated. The AC in the rooms is centrally controlled and I have to wonder if its very effective during mid summer. Even in October we needed once or twice and it was barely cooling the room down. With all that, we would definately return. By all means, request a room with a water view, its worth the price and make sure you ask about their stairway leading down to another section of town which if you follow a good street map, will eventually bring you to the harbor. walk away from the cruise ships and really see the working harbor. If you are arriving by plane, negotiate in advance for a fixed price with a cab driver to take you directly to the hotel. Don't even attempt public transportation from the airport. ciao

Dated room and furnishings, but nice. Clean and spacious. Staff polite and helpful. SPECTACULAR VIEW OF THE BAY OF NAPLES! Ma che bella citta e Napoli! Nice location. Private walk down to the shore. Breakfast usual fare.
