Staff member promised me that he would have the safe in my room repaired (it was broken) AND that he would buy me an adaptor to enable me to plug my shaver into the wall; neither ever took place. Upon checkout, the desk clerk actually did not know how to provide me with a printed receipt! Floors were quite dirty with lots of hairs; also no sound-proofing at all. one good thing was that english was spoken there. The mat near the shower was visibly filthy, and was never washed during my 5-night stay.

This was our first time in Naples and then in this hotel. It is a great place to be, ideally situated in the old center, with very competent and warm employees. I highly recommend this hotel to people who wants to visit Naples. The rooms are quiet and comfortable with nice designs on the walls and modern bathrooms.

Overall comfortable in an interesting area; employees knowledgable, helpful and friendly. Room a bit small but clean and quiet. Hotel featured good security, a must in Naples. Will definitely go there again. Sure; you need to carry some change for the elevator. It won't break your heart..p.s. If you're going to Pompei, wander down to the docks and take the bus..a lot easier than the circum..train...

For us, two couples, one with severe walking limitations, this hotel proved to be a perfect fit. Excellent recommendations from the staff for pizza (da Antonio) and dinner (Lombardo) within 2 blocks. Taxi stand just steps outside the door which are all on meters and not expensive. Lively college students make the streets seem very friendly. No more paying 10 cents for the elevator. Quiet rooms, large baths. If you want to see the historic parts of Naples, don't listen to the guide books steering you to Sorrento - stay here at Hotel Europeo. Walk to the Nativity street, cool churches and museums. Compliments to the staff.

Very good value for the money. Perfect location 50 meters from Piazza Domenico Maggiore in the historic city center. Very nice and helpful staff. Highly recommendable place. Internet works ok in the rooms, but you need an ethernet cord and password from the reception. Take bus R2 from Piazza Garibaldi (train station) to the University. The airport bus does not stop here as claimed. Finally, the reception/hotel is on the 4th floor. You enter from a yard and it can be a bit confusing to find the right door. There is an elevator but you need 10c to ride it!

This location is for budget travellers. Unfortunately, the rooms are very clairaudient and it is allowed to smoke in the rooms. One night we could barely sleep because of loud neighbors. On the other hand, the location is great (in the center of the old town). We found whole Naples annoying and this might also be a reason why we did not enjoy our stay too much.

The hotel is nice, the room is small though. The room was near the front desk and a bit noisy. The man in the evening and the lady in the morning were very friendly. It is in the heart of Old Naples. The little coffee place juste outside the gate is very nice, good croissant and cappuccino ! A very friendly place to stay. 20 minutes walk from the station (or bus R2 from the Garibaldi train station, stop at University, on Corso Umberto, just after Mezzocanone). Pompei is GREAT SUPER EXCELLENT ! There are audio guides for children definitely a great idea : no dates, no useless names of emperor just stories and anecdots ! Have a pleasant stay in Napoli !

The hotel was a bit difficult to find, but we followed the directions given in previous reviews and didn't have to many problems. The room was tiny, but very clean and comfortable, we were very impressed that it had aircon! Remember your 10 eurocents for the lift! The area was good, with some good little cafes nearby. We felt safe there after arriving into the chaos of the train station. We are happy to recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Naples. One tip, try not to arrive on the weekend when everything is closed, Naples seemed much friendlier on the Monday when all the shops were open and the people were about.

This hotel is a quiet, clean, and well located budget choice in bustling Naples. It's right across from the university, so the street is full of people (along with booksellers and snack snops) at all hours - that made me feel safe as a solo traveler. The hotel's building is set back from the street, so my room, which overlooked a courtyard and had a small step-out balcony, was amazingly quiet. (The entrance is well marked but could be a little confusing the first time: from a small sidewalk plaza, go the the gate on the right. Ring the bell on the wall on the right side of the gate. Go to the end of the alley and ring another bell to get in the front door of the building. If you want to take the elevator up, make sure you have a .10 euro coin.) The decor in my room (in the Europeo, not the Flowers) was pleasant, old-school pensione style, with a small TV and a spacious bathroom. I was there on a chilly night and the heat wasn't on, but there were warm blankets provided. There was a set of bunk beds as well as a double bed in my room, so I believe this was a larger room booked as a single. I can't imagine a family of four fitting into it, but it would have been fine for two. It took about 20-30 minutes to walk to the hotel from the train station, and a little less to walk to the airport bus stop at the port. The hotel is in the middle of the historic district - easy walk to the Duomo, the archeological museum, the port, the swank shops of Chiaia, and metro and funicular stations to get elsewhere.

Great location, very safe (behind a locked gate) and quiet. A little confusing to find, and the shuttle from the airport did not let me off in front as communicated. 10 cents to use lift, and it's on the 4th floor, so if you have luggage, try to have a 10 cent coin on hand. Staff was helpful, room was small but nice. It did smell a little like cigarette smoke, even though non-smoking signs were posted. There was a safe and a hair dryer in the room.

I would definitely recommend this hotel - it is right in the historic centre so within easy reach of everything, my room was quiet and clean, the staff were friendly, and it was a very good price. I would use it again if I were staying in Naples. I really liked Naples as well - it's lively, there's loads to see in the city (the archeological museum and Capodimonte museum are both fantastic), and it has easy access to places like Pompeii, Herculaneum etc. Traffic is a bit annoying at times though...

Naples was experiencing a bit of a heat wave while we were in town, and staying two nights without air conditioning was pretty awful. The room had a small ceiling fan, but it barely helped. Some of the rooms do have air conditioning -- I would definitely recommend reserving one of them during the hot summer months. Besides that, the hotel was perfect. Each room has its own theme... we stayed in the jungle safari room (and it certainly felt like a tropical jungle at times). Our room had a small balcony that looks out onto a very residential street, great for people watching. The staff was wonderful -- very friendly and very helpful (our Italian is very minimal, but the staff was very easy to understand and was always able to help). The hotel is withing walking distance to many wonderful sights in Naples -- there is a delicious gelateria just up the road, and a wonderful trattoria a couple stores down from it. Train station is within walking distance, although it is a bike of a hike (about 30 minutes). Also within walking distance is the main sea port, where you can take the ferry to Ischia, Capri, Sorrento, etc. (also about a 30 minute walk)

The worst thing about this hotel was trying to find it. Make sure to try and talk to the bus driver to find out what stop to get off - it is still a bit of a walk up the hill from there as well. A couple rooms have AC so make sure to ask for them. For the price the hotel was fine - private bath nice but shower too small. Breakfast is at a hotel a little ways away and costs extra but cheap (we got breakfast elsewhere though). Beds were nice and firm and room quiet.

We both felt very safe, night and day in the area around the hotel - there are a lot of university students during the day. Everyone we met was so friendly. Great location in the heart of Spaccanapoli and very decent bargain accomodations. 3-day stay at Europeo Hotel. The hotel is not very clean.. strange smell of sewage in our room. The reception is located at the 5th stage, you can use the elevator but... PAYING ELEVATOR! At first sight, the neibourhood seems really dark and unwelcoming... but then you just discover that it's a wrong first impression. On the other side of the road, there's the university, all the student come in the bar in front of the Hotel to drink their coffee (nice people, good coffee, good patisseries).. very pleasant atmosphere. Not far away, Via dei Tribunali, eventful street, don't miss it. Finally.. don't expect to 5 stars hotel 'cause for sure you'll have a nice stay.

I do believe that is a super good location, and that in that area there are no problems at all about thieves or rubber, as everbody like me used to think. You're close to everthing. About rooms, the only noise you hear, is coming from the inside hotel, no from the outside: rooms are not insonorised enough, but finally, Naples was fantastic, and people so nice. This was my first trip to Naples. I went there alone and was more than saticified with the hotel. The location is perfect fore all the visitors. It's in "old center" which during my visit (beginning of december) was full, I mean FULL, of small stores selling christmas things. From the hotel it was nice and safe walk to the newer center and coastline (through via Roma, via Toledo, via Chiaia..). The walks to central station and subway-stations are also comfortable and quite short. It's also easy to get a Taxi from the hotel, because many Taxis stop few meters up from the hotel to leave and pick clients visiting the centro storico. When I next time go to Naples, I will defenitely stay at Europeo!

If you are a big fan of public transportation. This hotel may not be for you. The reason is because after you get off of the train station, you have to catch a bus that stops somewhat close to the hotel. The bus stop is not the bus stop on the website. It is a different one. My recommendation is for your initial trip with luggage to the hotel from the train station is that you take a taxi. Even though the distance is probably only 3 or 4 miles, it will cost you 17 Euros. In regards to safety, in Naples, you almost always have to be especially careful. It is more dangerous down by the train station than by this hotel. The problem is that to get to the hotel from the train station, you have to get out and find the right bus and wait for the bus near the train station. In other words, it really is not that much safer to find a hotel away from the train station if you have to constantly always be walking around looking for your bus and waiting for the bus near the train station. Once you have gotten rid of your luggage and you don't have worry about it getting stolen, then you can be a little more adventurous and walk around the train station. As far as the accomodations are concerned, the bathroom was pretty small. Everything else was ok.

The hotel is quite a distance from the station which I think is a good thing given the number of unsavoury types hanging around there. It is very close to the historic centre and the security of the hotel is very good. The area around the hotel seems fairly safe. The rooms were small but clean and the staff friendly. There are lots of stairs to get up to the hotel level or you can take a VERY tiny lift that will cost you 10 Euro cents to use. Overall this hotel met our expectations.

Don't listen to those reviewers who state this is a dodgy part of town - Naples as a whole is scruffy and has a lawless feel (though after a couple of days here you start to work out 'what goes'). This hotel is in the heart of the Old Town, a much more pleasant area than nearer the Piazza Garibaldi. It's close to numerous pizzerias, churches, archaeological museum and other interesting nooks and crannies. Also close to bus routes to the airport (ask the driver to drop you near the university) and port area, and we genuinely felt safe coming and going at all hours. Local uni students put up a lot of posters that are regularly torn down by other residents, so there's quite a bit of litter strewn about...but that's Naples for you!! Hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful, they spoke excellent English too. Room was clean, but no air con (only ceiling fan) though we visited in late Oct so not a problem for us. Would definitely recommend. Thank goodness there is a lift, willingly paid 20c to contribute to upkeep every time!

The Hotel Europeo suited our needs perfectly for a night at the beginning and at the end of our holiday this September. The hotel is relatively easy to find, once you have worked out where you are on Corso Umberto. If you are arriving from the aiport or another town you are likely to end up at very hectic and messy Piazza Garibaldi - just get the R2 bus and get off at the Unversity. To get back to the airport, there is a very easy and direct bus route back from nearby. Just head down to the Castel Nuovo and buy a ticket from the newsagent stall. Our room was quiet despite its location and although there was no air conditioning the fan was enough to keep the room cool enough despite the hot temperatures. Facilities at the hotel are limited although there is a cafe outside that does good coffee and croissants for breakfast. There is also a very good pizza place a few minutes walk up the street, called Vesi. Ask the receptionist for directions. It is also well located for seeing the sights of central Naples, as well as the main shopping areas. Overall it is a good place to stay if you are on a budget and wanting to explore Naples.

I was travelling on my own & the hotel was in a very convenient location & was good value. I had a simple room that was clean & had a good shower.

Small, yet nice room with A/C. Kind personnel. Excellent price/value.

Hotel is situated in walking distance (about 15 minutes) from the historical centre and shopping streets (Corso Umberto). Area was safe, small street, full of tourists, was just near by. Single was spacy enough, the bed was big. The only negative moment was noise in the mornings - cleaning lady? Good value for reasonable price.

We stayed in a triple room. It was very nice and clean, the bathroom too! The hotel is in the university area, so it was very quiet. The employees were very kind and helpful. We enjoyed spending the nights there.

we stayed at the hotel for two nights. it is located directly in the center of napels but still is quite quiet(forth floor).our first impression wasnt to good, because we couldnt open the gates at first (just press the bell very hard). the mattresses are a bit hard and the fans dont cool the room off enough in my opinion but aside form that it is probably the cheapest hotel around with everything essential you need. we would go there again next time.

Not too difficult to find after all, since I was warned by some online comments. BUT we had problems getting on the elevator (which needed some 10 cents to run!) with our heavy luggage. Otherwise, we've been happily surprised: clean, quiet rooms (in spite of FIFA world cup going on), nicely decorated, safe. We'll recommended it to anybody going to Naples.

We arrived late at night and the area around the hotel feels a bit intimidating at night. You have to buzz in through a gate and then put 10 cents in the lift which only takes one person or drag your bags up 4 flights of stairs. The reception is good and friendly and the rooms are nicely furnished. The main problem is there is no air-conditioning and in summer it is fiendishly hot and nearly impossible to sleep. If they installed a/c it would be a great place to stay, provided you want the lively city centre and not more peaceful Santa Lucia/Vomero. Well located to get to the ferries for Sorrento and Capri though and also not too far to the train station. The price is good if you don't mind being very hot!

Europeo would have been a good value for money choice except for one thing: it has a *very* serious ventilation problem, so even in early summer the rooms are hot day and night. The ceiling fan is no use when there is *zero* fresh air coming from outside. Also, noisy seagulls nest nearby, we had a hard time sleeping there with all the heat and the noise. Finally, the very small paid lift *can* be annoying when you arrive at midnight with heavy luggage and without one 10 cent coin per person to pay for the 4-floor ride up.

the hotel staff was very friendly and spoke english...a great plus! the only problems i had with the hotel room was that my room window opened up to the back of someone else's house, so it was pretty noisy at times. the hotel itself is in an old building in the back of an alleyway on the 4th floor. there is a very, very small elevator that you have to pay 10 cents to use...so make sure you have change! i didn't and had to walk about 6 flights of stairs with an 80 lb. bag. overall stay was good, if it served breakfast i would probably return.

The hotel is nice and has all comforts, it is also nearby the railway station and Corso Umberto. We liked our staying. There was only one problem, that is to say breakfast was not that good. Butter almost melted, cappuccino not as a proper Italian one, no buffet for bread or jam or fruit. Breakfast does not reflects the standard of the hotel. For the rest it is very good.

The hotel was better than we expected for the price. The room was very large and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were quiet. Staff were very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again. Just don't trust the map from Venere - it's not that easy to find! Highly recommended!

make sure you ask for a room with a/c! We stayed one night at the beginning of our trip and had a/c so assumed we would have it the last night of our trip as well- WRONG! And in July, in Naples, this is no joke!

Went to Naples with a friend and had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Located centrally with a very good restaurant nearby. Near to everything you want to see.Clean and nice for the money we paid. Receptionists pleasant. We liked it very much.

This B&B was in an excellent location close to everything. However, it was impossible to locate the property manager to get in. They advertise that they have a shuttle to the train station, bike rentals, maps and that breakfast is provided. All of this is not true. As far as the room, you get what you pay for. I've learned that sharing a bathroom is not for me. The bathroom does not look as if it is cleaned often. I will not stay there again.
