OK, this is not the 4 Seasons and it is, after all, Naples. The hotel does have a certain charm and it is located in a truly "authentic" part of Naples---although quite safe. The main complaint that I had was that my room did not have a window. It had a door that opened onto an interior courtyard (no sun, light or much air) but---worst of all overlooked a restaurant where dishes clanged, waiters yelled and people sang. Had I had a window and less noise I think I would have been much more forgiving. The staff were helpful in recommending restaurants and sights. Overall I give it a C+.

comfortable and efficient hotel on a pedestrianised but busy street within walking distance of the seafront, Royal Palace, funicular railway up to Vomero, restaurants, shops etc; taxi rank close by; just right for a short stay (4 nights)

Our room was big, but very noisy due to a bar below and the room was mouldy, what you could smell after a while. The entrance area of the hotel is welcoming. We could not stay in that hotel but the staff were so helpful to find us another apartment hotel (for a much better price) down the road. The price for the rooms does not match the quality.

A very nice, charming hotel. Great location, and easy to get to. Very well located for shopping/dining options. Front desk was very helpful and kind. Air conditioning in rooms is controlled by the front desk. I wish I would have known this sooner, as our room was hotter than it needed to be until I asked that the temperature be reduced.

The Napoli was so big surprise after the northen Italy that we were afraid of what to expect from the hotel. But it turned out to be very nice, a real oasis in the haos. If you have ever been in Tornabouni Beacce in Florence (hotel in old palace) the Chiaja Hotel de Charme is very similar to it. The location is wonderful, the stuff is friendly, the room is very cosy. You won't regret! * Visit the restaurant on Santa Lucia street, the best meal I've ever tried.

Great location on a popular shopping street. Easy to walk to most of the places that tourists would be likely to visit in Naples. The staff were very helpful, even rustling up a cord to charge my cellphone because I'd left the correct adapter in Rome. The room was spotlessly clean, had its own safe for valuables, and turned out to be most spacious single room I've had in Italy. As for food. For those who are curious about breakfast, it's fine and seems like the standard stuff over there: coffee, rolls/cornettos, fruit juice, yogurt (no cold cuts). It also looked like sweets were put out late in the afternoon/early evening for a sort of tea-time thing. There is a long-established pizza place just around the corner (called Brandi), and another pizza place (Rosati?) and Caffe Gambrinus are at the end of the street. Lots of interesting trattorias, etc. are within walking distance in both directions--i.e., both up along Via Toledo and towards Piazza Amadeo. I would recommend this hotel for friends and would stay there again myself on a future visit to Naples.

Good location. Not well-marked on street, and when front gate is closed you need to step over about a 1 foot high entry-with your luggage. Hotel and room were very modern and quiet. Good breakfast too.

Hotel is located in a more pleaseant part of Naples which has a reputation for being a little rough. Hotel itself is in off the main street (which was a pedestrian street) and so was very quiet. Safe in room added to feeling of safety and air conditioning included was great. All in all, the room was fine but breakfast lacked a little in regards to what was on offer. There were no hams or cheeses on offer and choices were limited.

We enjoyed this hotel very much. Our room was lovely, and while the street below bustled during the day, it was dead quiet at night. The in-room jacuzzi was wonderful after a hard day of sightseeing. Very nice and good hotel, in one of the best place in Naples and close to what you want to see. Perfect Continental Breakfast. The only slight defect is the lift, you can use it only with a coin and it is placed in a occult position.

This was a lovely hotel located off a pedestrianised street in a part of Naples where we felt very safe. However, it could be very difficult to find the hotel - fortunately, our taxi driver walked us to the door. Staff were very helpful, particularly for arranging an excursion to Pompeii and Versuvius, and in organising a taxi. Room was clean and well furnished, with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was good and plentiful.

We were very pleased with the hotel. It was in an excellent location for touring, and had many good restaurants and activities nearby. The desk staff was so helpful. They were able to find the tours we were interested in...we didn't have much luck doing it on our own. We would highly recommend the hotel. I have only one criticism...we were not able to get the BBC or CNN World...apparently the satellite couldn't pick it up. We do like to get news in English when traveling.

The hotel is located on a street that does not permit cars. Our taxi driver drove down it anyway saving us the stress of towing our luggage. No cars also means no noise. And this appears uncommon in Naples. The hotel was walking distance to the island ferries and there were several restaurants close by. The reception staff were excellent. They were very helpful with giving recommendations, getting a taxi, etc.

This nice little hotel is just extraordinary. It is situated in the heart of the historical center, just a couple of minutes away from the Galeria Umberto II, Piazza Plebiscito, Via Toledo and of course the sea. Naples is a very, very noisy city, but in my room I forgot that I was in Naples (make sure you get one that goes to the courtyard). It was really extremly quiet. So, you have been warned. There is a porter 24/7. There is also a possibility to have your clothes washed. The breakfeast buffet was very rich and excellent, and the bar-keeper is always glad to serve you your favorit morning drink. If you should happen to return to Naples again, I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The Hotel Chiaja de Charme is an absolutely charming hotel in a very picturesque part of Napoli. It is within walking distance of some major sites. It is very close to the marina where one can take a boat across the Bay of Naples to visit Sorrento or one or more of the islands. All could be day trips. One major problem we did have was that we booked a room with a jacuzzi for 2 nights (in person)for when we returned from 3 nights in Capri and when we arrived we were told the reservation did not exist and if in fact we were promised the room, it was a mistake. At that point, we had no choice but to take the room offered. The hotel could truly represent a 3 star hotel (perhaps even 4)if it would train it's staff a bit more in reservations, installed better windows to block out the noise from the streets, made sure all of the safes in the rooms were operating properly and made sure air conditioners in all rooms were operating properly (we experienced a problem with both). My opinion also is that although the "antique" furniture contributes much to the charm of this hotel, the lighting fixtures should be updated. Not only for better lighting but also I think it would enhance the older period furniture (a couple of pieces need minor repair)and make it more of a showpiece than just old furniture with old lighting. A little tweaking goes a long way, this hotel has great promise with a few minor corrections. I loved it and would stay there again when visiting Napoli.

We rate this hotel as very good. We normally stayed in budget priced hotels in cities in Italy over the years and we think that the prices were too high for the rooms and the services that was offered to us in these hotels. Therefore we decided to stay in a hotel in Napels that is in higher price category and this evolved to be a very good choice. The price quality relation for this hotel is good. We had an excellent room, spacious, quiet, and with all the facilities we needed for our visit. The hotel staff was friendly and the breakfast was typically Italian but of high quality. The hotel surroundings are friendly, it is in a shopping street.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is charming and the staff is very security conscious. The main reception and breakfast area are separate from one corridor of bedrooms (on a different level and in a different building) but this was not a problem. The hotel is situated in a lovely, lively area and there are cafes and restaurants nearby. The breakfast room is small and only seats 20 so on one occasion we had to wait for a vacant table. I would recommend a stay here.

Good location-quiet rooms-safe to walk out in the evening-about 15 mins walk to good seafood restaurants on the Marina. Pleasant hotel tastefully furnished with antique furniture. It was not easy to spot the hotel at firstsight as it does not have a traditional hotel entrance. It's located through a courtyard on the first floor in a busy fashion retail area. We were more than satisfied with the accommodation.

In general, an excellent hotel, in an excellent location. Lobby staff were friendly and informative, the room was well furnished and street noise commendably subdued. There are a couple of potential problems that do not get highlighted too well. First, you cannot get a cab right to the hotel door, as it is situated in a traffic free street. The closest a cab can get is the Piazza Carolina, just off the Piazza Plebiscito. This is only a couple of hundred feet from the hotel front door but it does entail you wheeling your luggage along a busy pedestrian precinct. The hotel also occupies the first floor and the small lift isn’t the easiest to find. Lugging two twenty five kilo suitcases up two flights of stairs after a long journey ain’t no joke. Second, the hotel is only part of the residence of the Marquis Nicola Sasso Lecaldano La Terza, other people and businesses occupy the same building. This presents no real problem but the former palaces huge doors are closed for a long periods of time. To gain access to the hotel outside of door-open hours, one must ring for a hotel employee to buzz open a small access door. Our nocturnal buzzing was always promptly acted on but it could be a pain. If I sound too critical I can assure you I am not. The hotel is perfectly charming, well located and a credit to it’s management team. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

-1- from the description, I thought there was arestaurant. In fact, it is only a breakfast room, which prevent having a dinner at the hotel. Not a big problem but description should be more explicit. -2- via Chiaja is pretty much alive, especially during pre-Christmas shopping days and noise protection, in my room at least ( room 112 ), was on the low side, but still acceptable. -3- Public araeas are very nice but rather small, even for a 14 rooms hotel. -4- Overall, your service was perfect, and Hotel CHIAJA is a very good Hotel, the three remarks above being minor ones.

A unique hotel in an interesting location. We had a great stay but be warned.....the "superior rooms" all overlook the noisy Via Chiaia. We had asked for airconditioning but some obscure city regulation demands that it is not used after a certain date. It was case of sweat because of the very efficient double glazing or don't sleep! The hotel very kindly moved us on the second night. The staff were very charming, especially the night porter when it finally dawned on him that it wasn't going to be a problem for us sharing a double bed! I would recommend the hotel to any visitor to Naples, especially if you want to avoid "Holiday Inn" blandness. The Cafe Gambrinus is just round the corner so you can order cocktails and pose the night away.

We had requested a quiet room but at check in were told only a room fronting on the street was available but if possible, they would move us to a back room the next day. Still no back room but must admit, the double glass kept much of the street noise out. Of more concern however was when we advised the hotel that we would arrive as planned (Oct. 10)but could stay only 3 nights rather than the four originally reserved, we were advised by the hotel that this was possible but we would have to change through Venere.com. This implied we would have to pay for 4 nights unless approved by Venere. We had addressed this notice to "chiaja@venere.com". We tried twice to contact by e-mail to venere.com and could not make contact. Since we were leaving the next day we tried searching your website for possible contacts. We received no reply before leaving home and did not find out what the problem was until actually checking into the hotel. Is this your policy on such notices?

This hotel had all the charms of an old fashion hotel with all the modern amenities. There was only one glitch in our stay, the shower did not drain properly and flooded the bathroom and the hotel personnel could not seem to fix it. However, after a little adjustment, the wet floor was kept to a minimum. The rest of the room certainly made up for any incovenience. The morning breakfast was good and ample and the location was near the port and old fortresses. Convenient for taking the ferry down to Sorrento and Postitano.

Very helpful staff (extremely), nice room--location was a little difficult--on second floor. We were intrigued by the little door that you had to go through after hours (made us feel as though we really were in Italy with it's uniqueness). Loved the jacuzzi.

Brilliant hotel with a great position. In my opinion it was more 4 star quality than 3 star.

Room was quite dark but very quiet. Bathroom had developed an odour from the water coming into the bidet. Fantastic location.

This was the best out of 4 hotels I stayed at in Italy. It is a charm and the location is excellent! The staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. I asked for a quiet room and it was so quiet that sometimes we thought the place might have been evacuated! It is a lovely hotel. Just one thing, don't even think about walking from the train station. It is too far. Take the bus, it stops very close to the hotel. A lovely stay and I will certain return to this charming hotel. A few doors down from this hotel is a very famous restaurant called Mandi's. It is known for making the first Margherita pizza. The staff there are the friendliest and nicest people ever and it was the best pizza I ever had. Don't miss this hotel and this restaurant!
