Hotel Reviews Monaco

The location of Hotel Monaco -- close to the train station -- was convienient for our first nights in Munich. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent (best on our trip), and a good value at 8 euros. The only complaint was the loud street noise coming from the street at the back of the building until quite late at night. The neighborhood (strip joints) was not an issue for us, but the noisy people outside may have been associated with that clientele. We would stay at the Monaco again, however.

The Monaco hotel is right acrosss the street from the trian station which makes it very convenient. The surrounding area is kind of run down but we did not have any problems. Quite close to all the major Munich sights. The breakfast room is quite small but the selection was wonderful.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Monaco. We first chose it for its nearness to the main station, and to everything we wanted to see in Munich. The Monaco is extremely easy to find, and it was nice to see my name on a "Welcome" board as I entered. Others have complained that it was in a "seedy" part of town, but I can tolerate the occasional strip joint or whatever without feeling forced to go inside. The breakfasts were magnificent, with a huge range of food, enough to keep a person going all day in Munich. The service too was excellent from very helpful and polite staff. If we had any gripe at all, it would be that the bathroom was a bit on the small side, especially the shower unit, but it wouldn't stop us coming back should we ever visit Munich again. And I've told friends to visit the Monaco, as they are going to Munich next spring!. If you walk back to the station then beyond, visit the Lowenbrau Bierkeller, which is much more of the "real thing" than the Hofbrauhaus, and along the street from there is one of the best art galleries I've ever visited, the Lenbachhaus, which contains all the Kandinsky, Marc and Macke a fan of the Blauer Reiter group could want

Excellent value for money in the centre of Munich. Front entrance is in side street but not difficult to find. Very clean, comfortable and a good breakfast bar.

A good hotel. The hotel is in a block of flat, with no pubblic area. Is on the 4Th and 5th floor only. Room are large and very confortable, more than what I supposed before the stay. I think is the best hotel i stay about price/quality. two only stars but very nice about the room.

A great hotel close to the train station and walking distance to the town center. Elevator ride to the 5th floor (the floor for the hotel desk) delivers the guest & luggage to a delightful and helpful "angel" clerk who makes cakes for breakfast!

At the beginning it made a bad impression on me because it is situated in a zone near night clubs and sexy shop but as the hotel-keeper assured us Monaco is a very safe city and it was true. The hotel, although un-pretentious, is confortable and warm; it is very close to the center - only 2 minutes by foot - and to the main place MarienPlatz ; The hotel is clean and cosy. Perhaps the only lack is the parking because there isn't a private parking and you are not allowed to park near the hotel during workdays, the luck has been that we have spent our time in Monaco during holidays. You cannot have a dinner in the hotel but the brakfast is good and people polite.

the Monaco is a great little hotel about 3 blocks away from the train station in Munich. The huge rooms (by any european standards!) included a nice breakfast the next morning that was staffed by personnel. The room decor was very elegant for the amount of money we were paying. The hotel is a bit tricky to find, it's a TINY bit off one of the main streets (about 10 meters). Definitely recommend this hotel to a friend. I was slightly concerned about one review which read that the neighborhood was seedy, but the seedy neighborhood really only consisted of a strip club on the main street. The only slightly funny part about this hotel is that they requested we pay in cash. I still haven't figured out why.

This is an excellent hotel. Staff were very nice and friendly. Floors hardwood. Rooms a bit small. Shower was large, with large, great hair dryer. Hot water in shower. Very clean room. Just a short walk to the main train station, you can easily catch a bus from airport to main train station and back again. There is a laundry mat just a few blocks away 4 euro wash about 3 euro to dry. Do not be put off by the strip clubs along the street. I felt very safe walking alone at night to and from the hotel. Would stay here again.

I was not sure of the area when walking to the hotel, but the Monaco Hotel was the best hotel deal in Munich. The staff and quality of the room was superb. I would stay at the Monaco Hotel again when I go back to Munich. It was located very close to the TI and main train station for travel. The room was quiet and very clean. I am going to tell Rick Steves about my stay at the Monaco for his travel books.

Very cheap, clean and well situated hotel. Possibility of internet booking put it over others hotels at this area (near central station of Munich - 5 minutes walk). Perfect for planned (in advance) night stop in Munich for further moving by train or air (my option.)

The hotel has been recently refurbished as it was more modern than illustrated in the photos on the website. Breakfast was excellent for a 2 star hotel and much better than many of the 3 stars we have stayed in. Service was friendly and the staff were helpful. Excellent location in Munich as it was only 2 min walk from the central train station and 5 min from the city area on foot. Rooms were a good size for twin and smaller for double. Shared bathrooms were a little suprise but you only share with 3 other rooms and the facilities are both clean and good.

It was very difficult to find the hotel because the map what was in the homapage was too simple. So, we walked around for 40 minutes to find it. And nobody knew the hotel because there were so many hotels.(We didn't use a taxi.)

A little worried when arrived at hotel as area we had just walked through wasn't very nice, but got a pleasant surprise when shown to our room: spacious, well-equipped, modern and clean. Would have preferred not to have to hand our key in every time we went out but at least we didn't lose it...
