Hotel was fine, good value for Munich and the location was convenient for exploring the city and for proximity to the train station. All this talk about red-light district is overblown, it is hardly a dangerous or run-down area, but if for some reason you're offended by a few neon lights then maybe you should stay elsewhere and pay more. Only negative comment is one particular desk staff who was consistently abrupt or irritable, and should definitely not be in a client-facing job.

I think Hotel Italia is a good hotel. It´s situated near the railway station and near of the hotel there are a lot of cabarets (Munich is a city famous by its cabarets). The staff is very kind and gave me all the information I needed it.

Good price, good breakfast, not bad location, very helpfull staff, we went for Christmas time and they even were helping us to find open restaurants in internet and were helping us with the reservations, etc. Rooms and bathroom veeery small, but if you are only using them for sleepying, then it's good. There were even families there, it's recomended for everyone.

Pleasant, no frills little hotel in the middle of Munich, within easy walking distance of old town. Staff was very competent, helpful and friendly. Room was small but clean. Surrounding area a little scuffy but ok. Breakfast was excellent with friendly staff. Parking for car about 1 1/2 blocks away from hotel.Price/Quality ratio is good. I would certainly recommend this hotel for a short, inexpensive stay in Munich.

The overall "7" is due to the small spaces available, either common and non common (rooms, really small). Concerning the breakfast, I would suggest only to add some cakes (like "cornetti") in the available selection. Though it is not a big problem: around the corner there is a nice "mueller" backery with a wide selection of cakes and cornetti, but it's such a discomfort to go out early in the morning, in Munich winter, to catch some add for the breakfast...! Assistance, competence and quality of service very good. People friendly and supporting.

The room was nice and comfortable, staff were helpful. The only problem is the noise. When people come in late at night (and it's located in a red-light district near the station) the halls are so loud it sounds like they're inside your room! I was awoken twice at 1:30 and 2:00 am and didn't sleep the rest of the night.

Colazione abbondante e varia a buffet. Vicina a stazione metro, tram e treni. Presenti in stada numerosi altri hotel. STRATEGICO!

The only comment I could find before booking this hotel was one who describes a lobby of crying guest, filthy rooms and terrible service from the staff. Hotel Italia is nothing like that - it is a clean, adequatly sized, gentle and cosy hotel. Just bevare of the industrial shredder obviously placed outside the hotel's windows between 8:00 and 10:00 ;)

Cercatene altri. Hotel of the most insufficient level to comparison of the night's passing price. Not pleasant aspect with quality rooms sure not. Both the mornings of residence in the hotel there are some raises to you with a beautiful back badly, the reason we have comprised it the last day: we have not slept on nets but on tables of wood, insomma only mattress. The zone is surrounded from sexy shop and others probably lodge of level better of the same one. However the position is good to 5 minuteren from the center. Pulling the sums: I ADVICE AGAINST. It tries of it others to you.

The room was small and furnishings basic, but this is a budget hotel so you shouldn't expect too much. But it is clean, safe, and located near the main train station. Breakfast is simple, but fine. Although there are several strip joints in the area, the surroundings never felt sleezy, dirty, or unsafe. There is some noise from music from nearby bars coming into the room, but it wasn't something that disturbed my sleep. If you are looking for a budget hotel, this is indeed a good deal!

Impressione ottima!

Despite my awarness about the property to be a simple one, rooms (at least the one I had) are too small and needing renovations. The bath-room has all the basic facilities but it's so small you can't move around. Definitely not a 3-star property. Breakfast is not bad. The hotel is located in an area with some man-only-bar and adult oriented theatres but advertising is enough "polite" and even if I was travelling with my children it wasn't too embarrassing. The only plus is that starting from there everything of the Munich old-town (Marienplatz, Residenz, ....) is at a walking distance. anyway you've the subway station at 2-3 minutes. Getting there by car is not hard. You cannot park along the street during the day but you can during the night and on sunday. The property has an agreement with a parking lot (300-400 m. distance) and the daily fee is 10 €.

Definitely an Italian quality, with ceramic tiled hallways and entry to my room. Very quiet and clean, though neighborhood specializes in strip clubs and very male-oriented bars, like San Francisco North Beach area. Breakfast was lavish and a great deal for me. Also, I could walk everywhere I wanted to go, except the English Gardens which called for a bus ride. I recommend Italia as a great bargain stay near Hauptebahnhof, not luxurious but very adequate for the thrifty traveler.

The hotel needs a major renovation. The bathroom is very small and does not give you an enjoyable shower/toilet experience, which would be expected from a hotel. The biggest nuisance would have been the cigarette smoke from other rooms that penetrated your room, and the loud noise of inconsiderate customers in the corridor at 2 or 3 a.m. The elevator was tiny so people took the stairs and the sound of people climbing up and down the stairs was enough to keep you awake. Even during the Oktoberfest, the hotel is not worth the price. Overall, I did not get a good experience here and will not consider coming back.

The best feature of the hotel was the breakfast, which was first class, with a very good variety of options. Another accomodating feature of the hotel was the availability of multi-guest rooms, which did limit the amount of space in the room, but allowed for a better rate by eliminating the neccessity of more rooms. There is no air conditioning, so in the summer you have to open the windows, most of which are facing a busy street, so it can get noisy at times. Also, it is across and down the street from a couple of strip clubs (cabarets) so if you don't like that sort of thing or have small children, you should be aware of the local surroundings.

Our room was a 'closet'. The bathroom door was covered inside & out with woodgrain patterned contact paper. There was a group of 15-20 late-teens staying next to us and on 2-3 floors of the Hotel, with minimal adult supervision. They were noisy and slammed room doors until 1am. We complained to the desk clerk who asked a group of kids in the lobby (at 1am) to be more quiet. We left the next morning and found a "real" hotel down the street. Overall, the WORST hotel experience in our 3-week trip to Europe ! Would NEVER consider staying there again ! Pete Williams
