When i arrived there was a problem with room i had reserved. Office employee told me that the room wasn't available anymore and only a little room with sanitaries outside was available. I checked that little room which was perfect and sanitaries were clean! So i kept that room for only 39 euros that was a great deal. People at the office were very helpful and originally proposed me to look for another room in other hotel of the area if the little one was not good for me. Nice and quiet place around the hotel with subway facilities 5 minutes of walk.

First night we had the room in front of the elevator and it was very noisy. We asked for a change and we got another room that was ok. The first room also had a strong smell of dampness, although it was clean.

This hotel was little strange, reception and where I staied was different building. Hotel did not explaned well about this so we had very difficlt time to find it. However, after understood the system, its went all very good. The restaurant next hotel was excellent for the lunch in very convenient price!

Everything is basically OK, especially the location - we didn't really need any transport to get most of Munich attractions - city center, English park, museums, cafes, bars, bath-house and so on. But I thought the size of room and quality of room' decoration would be better for 3* hotel...

This hotel has a great location as you can easily walk to the city center or the underground is almost right next door. The neighborhood is very safe, clean, and quiet. The room was up to date and large enough. It also has an excellent breakfast and restaurant.

We chose the hotel on the basis on the photos on the website and its connection with the Tannenbaum Hotel. We were under the impression that there would be a lovely biergarten that we could use but were very disappointed with the fact that it was barely open and didnt seem to be connected at all to the Herzog Hotel.. The photos of the hotel did not bear any resemblance to the hotels, especially the Tannenbaum restaurant. The hotel itself was clean and very functional and we have no complaints but it should be made far more clear on the website what sort of hotel it is. We have travelled to Munich many times and although the location of the hotel is very good , it is not very good for a group of friends staying as there is no communal area for them to meet up. If the Tannenbaum restaurant was open then it would have been much better.

The hotel was difficult to find even with our GPS. Parking was a bit of a problem. We needed a triple room, so there was a cot in a room that was already quite small for two people. The cot was terribly uncomfortable. The location is great, and it's priced fairly well, but don't expect much more than bare essentials. I will say the breakfast was very good.

Booked and confirmed with hotel, but got bumped to Der Tannenbaum without our consent. They are back to back, so was not a big inconvenience. The directions they tell you from the closest public transportation is all wrong. There is a U-bahn station stairway just 1.5 blocks away in a small square, but the hotel gave us directions from a stop that was more than 5 blocks away. It was raining hard, so that extra walk outside was bad. Small bathroom, but adequate. There was a festival in the small square outside the hotel, was fabulous location. We walked to Marienplatz each evening. Felt very safe in that neighborhood.

The staff were unusually helpful and courteous. The location very central and convenient. The room though smallish was conveniently arranged and commodius. The one negative was outside the hotel's control. It was near a church which had bells that rang regularly, but I always bring ear plugs so it wasn't a big problem. All in all, I would happily recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Munich.

People were really very very helpful with everything, not only regarding the hotel but also regarding my stay in Munich. Staff was very nice, I felt very comfortable with them. The hotel was very good. I put a 9 in quality of service just for the heating: first night it was not very hot, it was just warm, and it turned off in the middle of the night, the room was very cold, but I told them next morning and then it worked ok. Anyway, I think poor heating is a problem in all Germany...Hotel surroundings were excelent: just 1 1/2 block from a commercial and lively street where you can find nice places to eat at night.

Having booked 3 double rooms we did not anticipate 3 twin bedded rooms where in fact the beds were also wall fixed either side of the room and were not moveable. The rooms were rather on the small size but the showers etc were excellent. Breakfast was good and the central location made up for the shortcomings. The lack of a lounge was also noted.

Although we booked a double room we ended up with a twin. The weather was very hot but we could not open the windows because room overlooked noisy (at all hours) street. We booked this only a few hrs before arriving. We were looking for an inexpensive double room in or near the city centre of Munich. This hotel is located on a quiet street just off the ring road around the city centre and within 5-10 min walking distance of the Munich Rathause with clock (which I'm sure I've misspelled) and main square shopping/pedestrian area. The room was small with no air conditioning but adequate for the one nights stay, everything worked fine. The breakfast area was bright and cozey with the breakfast itself being quite substantial including smoked salmon, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, fruit peices along with the usual muesli, yogurt, juice, assorted rolls, tea and coffee. Very nice! Since it was the weekend we enjoyed free parking on the street directly in front of the hotel, not difficult to drive to, I believe good for public transport too. Helpful, friendly staff. The man at breakfast wished everyone in turn a good morning. English of course was no problem. It was not a memorable place to stay but certainly adequate and of reasonable value.

Room size is too small and cramped. Location excellent and perhaps that's why it still attracts visitors. Breakfast was excellent. A single, three person lift that broke down for a full day while were there made the prospect of climbing to our fifth floor room really daunting after a day of sightseeing. Overall, an average facility.

Hotel advertised that they had high-speed internet and wi-fi. However, upon arrival I was notified by the staff that neither of these services were available. They stated they were planning an providing these services sometime after June, 2006. The room was non-smoking, but the smell of smoke was so strong in the room that it was difficult to sleep. The location of the hotel is convenient. It is within a 10 minute walk to both the main train station and the pedestrian areas around Marien Platz. However, regardless of the location, I will more than likely find other accomodations next time I stay in Munich.

First off when we checked in, we didn't stay in the main building but rather their Pension around the corner. Was a very good room but interesting check-in to say the least. The breakfast (actually in the restaurant) was horrible but thankfully their was a great bakery around the corner for croissants and such. Very Small room, very small bathroom. Apart from that the hotel was perfect. Staff were courtious. Breakfast which was included in the price was excellent. location was perfect.A short walk to the centre of the city and a very short walk to the underground. A word of warning, as with nearly all European hotels double means twin, which is ok as you can usually push the beds together but in this hotel you can't. Having said that for the price I would go back again as the positives well outweigh the negatives in this hotel.

This was a good place to stay in Munich. The location is central, and within a 10 minute walk of the main train station. Yet, the hotel is still in a quiet neighbourhood (unlike many of the hotels in the price range in this city) The walls are a little thin, and noisy people in the next room were a problem one night, but overall the room was good compared to other places I have stayed in this price range in Munich.

The night before we left we got an e-mail from the property saying they had some renovation problems and could not accommodate us. So, they booked us a comprible room at the same rate at the Hotel Mirabel. We were very lucky we even saw the e-mail because it arrived so late. As it was we did not have time to research the new hotel or even get a good idea of how to find it. We had to call the Herzog from the airport (an exasperating experience if you are not familiar with German pay phones or yet have any coins) and they gave us directions. The Mirabel was clean and nice and they honored the same rate. But, the reason we chose the Herzog was its location. The Mirabel was 10 to 15 miniutes father away from the pedestrian area and in a commercial area two blocks from the train station. If we had had more notice we might have made other plans. Since the questionaire webpage won't let me send my comments without completing the ratings, I'm basing my ratings on the Hotel Mirabel not the Herzog!
