We stayed in this hotel in October 2009. The hotel was very good. The rooms are clean with excellent breakfast. Good location near to city centre and also perfect location to underground station Sendingler Tor. Hotel includes lift.

This will be my München hotel. The price is right, the facility is adequate, the location is excellent (we walked almost everywhere), and the breakfasts are phenomenal! The hotel is good value for the price.

very nice hotel, very clean and spacious rooms, central location. Just have in mind that check in and check out should take place in a sister hotel around the corner.

As a four member family we very much enjoyed this hotel. The hotel is at the downtown, in the heart of the city. Very close to all public transportation, shopping areas and sightseeing places. Breakfast is superior for all european hotels at the same class.

We had the most delicious breakfasts with a great variety of breads, cakes, croissants, cold meats, fruit and hot drinks. A full tummy made an excellent start to our busy days. This hotel offered the best of the breakfasts of all the places we stayed in in Europe.

I booked two single rooms, one for me and one for a collegue of mine. When we went to the hotel, we found that they had reserved us a kind of apartment with two double rooms and one bathroom. When we asked if they had two separate rooms, they said no other rooms were available. We accepted the proposal, but I think that this was quite unfair.

I was told the hotel was crowded and I was willing to stay in another sister hotel of Der Tannenbaum Zentrum. The location is good as it is nearer to the market. However, the stay is terrible as the drunkard made lotsa noise. I was so frightened becoz I was travelling alone. I think someone was attempted to open my door as he was too drunk. Scary experience. I would stay in at least a 4 star hotel in future if I am travelling alone. Also, there is no lift but spiral stair. Therefore, it is more suitable for bag packer I feel

Fabulous place...down the road a bit farther than we expected, but not a problem. If we'd have gone another 20 feet we'd have seen the sign. Herzog Hotel (where you check in) is just past the gas station.

The hotel staff is really nice and helpful. Breakfast was good (very good croissants!). I think they should make the reception cosier because it is not very confortable. We decided to leave two days before and the guy did not raise any objections. The room was spacious, but the bathroom a bit too simple.

We really liked this hotel. Warning, the front desk is at the Herzog around the corner. They were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were terrific, and the location was really close to the central plaza of Munich. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the breakfast was delicious.

Family room/apartment was excellent. Very large rooms. Breakfast was wonderful with multiple choices. Reception is odd in that one has to go to "sister" hotel around the corner but otherwise an excellent hotel with an excellent location and value.

My family and I stayed in a quad room for six nights. The room was quite large by European standards and reasonably appointed. The staff was helpful when needed and the room was always clean upon our return from a day of sightseeing. The breakfast service/selection was fantastic! Location was very good being within a two minute walk to the Sendlinger Tor station and an easy ten minute walk to Marienplatz and all the central Munich sights. Only complaints were the the extremely small bathroom and some outside night noise when the windows were open. Overall, it was a great place to stay and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We were a family of 5 2 adults and 3 teenagers the room we booked was just as promised the hotel is centrally located in Munich, close to the S & U Bahn station, as well a very short walk to the D-Bahn. The room and hotel were very clean and the breakfast in the morning were great. By far the best breakfast we had at any of the Europe hotels we stayed in on this trip. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. I am looking forward to returning to this hotel and to Munich.

the hotel is very nice, the room beatiful, clean and spacious. Breakfast is huge. The only incovinient is the lack of reception, guests are obliged to go in the street behind to get the key from another hotel.

Very good impression. Suitable for families. Close to station and quite convenient location with reasonable rate. The staffs were very friendly and kind. I will be happy to stay here again. If I have to mention something negative, the entrance was hard to find. And the reception is in another building (not far though)so better to know it when you book. Something pitty was that we didn't notice that one of the window was open and the street noise was so annoying when sleeping. Better check window before bedtime.

Check in was tedious as you had to walk around the block to check in at another hotel - not so much fun in the cold wind with luggage when you don't know where you're going. But the room was really clean and big and the location was close to the Christmas Market. Most important, the emplyees (when I finally found the check in desk!) were really wonderful and a huge help.

The location was very good for getting to the main "shopping area" and to/from train station. We were not told that you actually pick your keys up at another hotel around the corner from this entrance. Would have been nice to have a lobby. This should be something that people are advised of before checking in. This was our first time in Munich and found this to be a great location.

Very convenient location, walking distance to the central part of Munich. The only poor note is the crampedness of the bathroom and it can get a bit noisy at night. We would go back to this hotel without any doubt.

Although we were warned that it was difficult to find, we still had trouble locating the hotel. The apartment was very roomy for 5 adults and the breakfast was excellent with friendly service. The only negative of this hotel is that it can be noisy outside until the early hours of the morning. But the location is very convenient to the metro and the center of town. We would definitely stay here again.

Very central hotel with very spacious, clean rooms. Staff very friendly and breakfast adequate. Our family of five had more than enough space in their apartment style rooms. Walking distance to city sights. Close to restuarants. Would definitely stay here again. Even though reception is around the corner at another hotel it is really not that far and was not at all inconvenient.

Der Tannenbaum was a wonderful place to stay. We arrived on an overnight train very early in the morning and the manager upgraded us to a larger room so we could check in immediately. At dinner, the server went our of her way to recommend meals to us which were absolutely delicious. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station and central to the older part of the city. I highly recommend the place to others.

Excellent location just steps away from the Sendlinger Tor subway station. Convenient to shopping and site seeing. Room was comfortable and bright and clean. Breakfast room was pleasant and offerings were ample. There is a quaint neighborhood restaurant on the first floor (also called the Tannenbaum). This is not a luxury hotel - it is a very compact building and there are no common areas per se. The bathroom was quite small, but not unexpectedly so at this price in Europe. The checkin desk is actually around the corner in the Herzog Wilhelm (or Wilhelm Herzog) Hotel. We thought all of this just added to the charm, and the value was quite remarkable. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Spacious suite for our family of 5. Wonderful breakfast. We didn't have any trouble finding the hotel and weren't bothered by the fact that you do check in a half a block away. The only odd thing I found was that there are two parts to the hotel and you register at a different part. Shame that the Hotel Tannenbaum didn't have its own reception to collect keys. Apart for that the hotel was in a fab location - great room - loads of hidden places to store stuff. Staff friendly and even the chef in the pub at the bottom of the Tannebaum was great in pointing us in the right direction to reception!!! I will be staying there again when I'm back in Munich.

We stayed for 4 nights in July. The hotel is in an excellent location, not far from the main pedestrian street, the Marienplatz, and other main tourist areas. Also very close to the Sendlinger Tor station, with access to the U-bahn and trams. Hotel is apparently now owned by the owners of the Hotel Herzog Wilhelm around the corner, the Reception desk is at that hotel. The hotel restaurant is very good, and serves excellent beer from the Kloster Andechs monastery (a recommended day trip btw). We had a family room for three of us, we had requested non-smoking but there is only one NS family room and it was occupied, so we were given a smoking room. However, there was absolutely no scent of smoke whatsoever, so we were quite pleased. The room was very spacious. The continental breakfast was plenty adequate. Our only complaint is that our room overlooked the main street, which was fairly noisy most of the night. This did not bother me or my son, we are heavy sleepers, but my wife was woken on several occasions. There is no air conditioning, so you must keep the windows open at night during the summer. There appeared to be some rooms which overlook a small inner courtyard, they might be quieter. Overall however we give the hotel a high rating for location, comfort, and cleanliness.

For those arriving by public transport, the hotel is very near to the Sendlinger Tor U-Bahn station. Sendlinger Tor can also be reached by tram from the Hauptbahnhof. Der Tannenbaum does not have its own reception but shares one with the Hotel Herzhog Wilhelm, the entrance to which can be found in Herzhog Wilhelm Strasse. Go to the Herzhog Wilhelm first to register and collect your room key. The room key also opens the front door to Der Tannenbaum; the front door to the hotel can be found on Kreuzstasse, directly behind the eponymous restaurant. On the subject of the restaurant, we took lunch there immediately on our arrival. It's a decent very traditional German restaurant. The hotel is well situated, with most of the central sights within easy walking distance. For those disinclined to walk, the public transport system provides comprehensive cover and is frequent. For opera enthusiasts, both of the opera houses - the National Theater and the Theater am Gartnerplatz - are just a short walk away. The only downside is that the street in which the hotel is situated can be a bit noisy - it seems that small hours revellers use it as a route home.

The only unfortunate thing that happened was when we arrived - we weren't warned that a bigger hotel ran the place and that the check-in was on another street around the corner. With 2 very elderly people and baggage we had to trapse all the way to the check-in place and all the way back - and we had asked them on their intercom whether we needed our baggage (ie was there an internal entrance)...but they told us to bring baggage for some reason. Otherwise it was very nice and the restaurant was just great!! It is on an antiques street which makes it a little bit special too.
