Hotel Am Markt - Munich

Generally, it was good hotel. But one thing was bad for me because I can use internet on first floor only.

When everything was well, the staff seemed nice. When I asked questions or for their help regarding hotel facilities the were the opposite. Not even the smallest efforts. They said "That's it. handle it" I will never go back to this awful hotel

No hotel could match the perfect location of this one. Superb location, wonderful hotel in every sense, utterly stupid receptionits to spoil it all.

Great location, clean rooms, but staff not much help with services. Also, my room faced the square which was very noisy. I would return with a different room not facing the square.

The hotel was an excellent surprise; the single room was quite small, but cozy and spacious enough for one person. Bathroom very nice and clean. Breakfast was great, but I wish it were included in the price. Very good free wi-fi connection but TV only in German. The location is simply perfect for a tourist, but this comes with some loud people drinking beer in nearby restaurants, which will only bother neurotic people or those who need or want to sleep before 10 or 11 p.m.. Overall, a great experience.

We visited on vacation and were really impressed with the hotel and the front desk folks. They were extremely helpful. The room was very comfortable and the wifi was great.

5 minutes from Marienplaz. Breakfast was ok. The church bells get annoying after a while. Was not told that the rooms my floor were being renovated which is not a big deal if you are out all day but if you want a lie down it's not very relaxing.

No frigo bar in room but confortable and in good position

It is an excelent Location for a Tourist who wants to know the City´s Historic Center.

Small, old rooms, very sparce. Small bathroom. Lift is small and cramped.

Excellent location, just behind Marienplatz. room without hairdryer, poor facilities. price just a little high 99 Euros for standard double,for service offered. on the whole positive comment

Very central, but surprisingly quiet rooms. A reasonable buffet breakfast is available for 5 euro extra.

..”i have stayed at Hotel Am Markt the last 2 years and will return again in 2010....wonderful staff - especially Silvano and Cornelia at the front desk...not a fancy place - just clean, bare bones accommodations with friendly people...walkway outside is more like an alley so sometimes late night noise echoes...but the beds are comfy and the comforters are snuggly warm so there's no problem sleeping.....when traveling in December, it would be nice to have one hot item at breakfast, even if it's only instant oatmeal...the Viktualien markt (farmer's market) with its lovely food stalls is just steps from the door, with a wonderful beer garden open in the summer...and the famous Marianplatz with the Christkindlmarkt in December is just a couple of blocks walk away (through the Viktualien markt)...location couldn't get any better - it's superb!”

The rooms were fine. We booked 2 standard rooms at the same price. One room was sufficiently large enough; but the other was tiny! The queen bed was against the wall and there was about 1 foot of room on the other side. The bathroom was also tiny.

Location was excellent although it was noisy a couple evenings from the cabaret bar in the restaurant. The internet would not work and no one seemed to really be concerned about fixing it. Our room was much larger than what I thought we had booked which was a pleasant surprise. I would stay here again for the location. It is much better than near the train station.

This small and personal hotel in the very centre of Munich was excellent value for money. The front desk was very helpful, the room was well appointed, and the attached restaurant with excellent breakfast was great. Shared bathroom worked well and we had a nice view from our room over a small square. Just around the corner was the Victualien Markt where meals and beverages abounded. Spot on. We couldn’t have found better.

As good a location as you could get in Munich, and certainly not a bad hotel for the price. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. But my bedroom had only plasterboard/wooden wall separating it from the bedroom next door. It's possible that other rooms in the hotel are like this also. If there's no-body staying next door to you, there's no problem. If there is, you'll hear their goings on from your room. I suggest bringing earplugs as a precaution.

Staff very pleasant but night staff could not direct telephone call in English - hung up on caller.
