Hotel The UniContinental - Mumbai

I can strongly recommend caution and a healthy skepticism when dealing with the staff at this hotel, that is, if you choose to stay here, which I would not suggest anyone to do if you have the choice. To begin, the location is a good ways away from most places that tourists choose to see. Granted, it is close to a train station and this is undoubtedly convenient, it still takes some time to get down town by train, and taxi rides add up. As for cleanliness, this place is pretty grungy, especially for the price that one pays. The sheets are stained, the walls look oily and dirty, and the state of the bathrooms deserve a whole different paragraph of their own. I will say that the staff was helpful enough for the time that I stayed there. They got me right in to my room, took care of my laundry, suggested travel routes and ideas, and even let me borrow an umbrella when it was raining. It was after I left the hotel when the real debacle occurred, and is thus the reason I chose to give this place such low marks. To keep it simple and short, what happened was this, I originally booked four nights through this very website, showed up to the hotel and they brought up my reservation no problems. I told them that I was thinking about shortening my stay indefinitely, they said no worries and that I could actually just pay day by day as I went along and I could just stay the night as long as I kept paying in the mornings. This was one of the first places I stayed in India, so I wasn't very experienced in the ways of dealing with hotels and the common customs that occur otherwise I would have been skeptical of this sort of process. So I ended up staying two nights, had my credit card swiped on two separate mornings, and checked out on the third day having what was overall not too bad of a stay. About two weeks later, I was looking at my accounts on my bank's website and noticed that I had been booked for two extra nights (SEE BELOW FOR FULL COMMENT)

This hotel is dirty. Even the bed and the sheets were tried. And drunk persons belonging to the staff. The price(prize) 2000 RS is not absolutely justified. FORGOT THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!!

Ok, India is quiet dirty. But if you pay 1500,- Rupies it should be a little more clean than this Hotel. It is near to the Airport, thats the only reason to use. But i cant remember to see such a dirty bathroom in 2 month of India. The sheets were Ok, so we stayed.

For Mumbai airport area this was probably cheap but the hotel was absolutely grotty and dark. Nothinmg special. Good for a stayover between flights.

The room was very durty /bathroom wasn t clean the wall was dirty /we have been oblige to sleep in our sleeping bag/ please do not recomend this hotel in venere because is really a very bad hotel we travel a lot and for 30 euros you can get in india very good hotel / i know that in bombay is more expensive but anyway this price doesn t fit with the bad quality of this hotel

Do not expect anything great. for indian standards it is good and since mumbai hotels are so expensive i would opt to stay here again. only for 1 max 2 nights. we did not have any hot water but for 1 night it suited us fine. it is budget backpacker style so you need to be used to that type of place and be willing to rough it a bit.we did have a tv and air con. for anything decent in mumbai you will pay 3 times the price.

Seems that staff has somekind of deal with taxi drivers: you can't book a taxi yourself from nearby the hotel,unless accompanied with someone from the hotel. and after this, the taxi will charge you more. otherwise hotel was ok, and reasonably clean, but elevators were hardly working properly. fix them please!
