Built in 1870 the Grand Hotel Suisse-Majestic is located in the center of Montreux and majestically overlooks Lake Geneva and the Alps.

Montreux is all about staying in Grand Hotels, and this one doesn't disappoint. It seemed a bit steep at first for off-season, but this is a real hotel from the Golden Age, with lots of amenities and charm. Considering this I suppose the price/quality is actually quite high. The main terrace is beautiful and has a rather trendy bar going into the evenings. It makes you feel rather chic just sitting there sipping a Campari. The hotel's location right between the train station and the ferry landing only recommends it further, and which was helpful to my older parents. I was not lucky enough to get a room with a lake view, but the room had a nice balcony anyway with a "city view". I found the restaurant expensive and mediocre, but that is negligible. The folks behind the counter were professional and obviously quite well trained in hospitality.

Too much expensive. The quality is high and you quickly note that it is a luxury hotel, but the facilities not correspond with the price. The hotel deserves more offers in terms of prices in other times apart the summer.

Very small room but lovely balcony overlooking the lake. Air conditioning too noisy to use when in the room. Duvet too small for the bed, let alone for two of us, lots of loud music from the terrace bar, breakfast poor value. View on to the lake made everything else insignificant - fabulous!
