I think all the bad reviews on other sites are isolated incidents. In fact, I think people who have bad experiences probably are more inclined to report a bad experience than people who have a good experience. My wife and I had a good experience. The front desk was great with helping us find things to eat (e.g., French cuisine) and do (e.g., Montreal casino and underground mall). The rooms were clean, the cleaning staff was respectful.

When we arrived we found that the employees had just started a strike so management was left to run all aspects of the hotel. I can not complain as they did the best they could considering the surprise strike but the restaurant had limited hours so we ordered in as our 5 year old wasn't up to a sit down dinner. The hotel room was clean and presented well although quite small, as expected in an older hotel. The pool was wonderful, and not many hotels in the downtown area have a pool. We chose this hotel for the location and weren't disappointed.

How to reach Hotel Maritime Plaza

By airplane
From Montréal Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport: a public shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes towards downtown Montreal. You can either get off at the Central Bus Station and take a taxi to the hotel, or ask the driver to stop in front of the Maritime Plaza Hotel (though not always possible).
A taxi ride from the airport to the hotel takes about 15 minutes.

METHODS OF PAYMENT

CANCELLATION POLICY
For No shows and late cancellations a penalty of one night + taxes will be charged on your credit card.
