If you are going to have dinner, you can only start your dinner from 19:30 and the dinner menue is always same. That is shame and boring.

We stayed here to see the Tour de France come through town, and were delighted to have that directly outside of the hotel. The breakfasts in the mornings were included and were decent continental buffet fare.

After some less than grand hotels, the Sofitel was just what the doctor ordered: quiet, very comfortable, pleasant staff. We were just on our way through on our way to Barcelona, and the location next a Mall made up for the fact that it was a miserable rainy day which squelched our plans for leisurely walks through the city. Hotel staff was quite kind, allowing us late check out and letting us rest while awaiting our afternoon train. Dinner in the hotel was expensive, but pretty good. I don't think 22 Euro is a fair charge for breakfast, but we were forewarned by reviews so we wandered into the mall and found several great (and dry!) cafe's for breakfast--very reasonable too.

Plush hotel with large clean rooms, only ~5 min walk from Place De La Comedie. Reception staff very helpful and spoke good English, compensating for my poor attempts at speaking French. Buffet breakfast was good, but at 22 euros each we only had it on the 1st day.The rooftop pool is small, but a nice touch for a city centre hotel. For anyone staying in Montpellier for more than a few days I recommend going to La Grande Motte, a beach resort a short bus ride away from the city.

My wife and I and her best friend and husband from Toronto Canada quite enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is centrally located and next to a train line that facilites access to the train and other transportation facilities. It has a nice rrof top pool, spa and bar. Rooms were all well appointed and service was good.

This hotel was a typical large anonymous 4 star hotel - lots of facilities, not much character. However it was close to the centre of town, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the facilities were clean.

What a pleasant surpise this hotel was. The pictures on the net don't do it justice. It lives up to its stars. It was a delight to find the secret passage way to the shopping mall and plaza. Good facilities for internet connectivity as well. Turn down service nightly with chocolates. Excellent room service. The rooms were very clean and well kept. The decor was flawless. The down and feather bed was a delight. We will be back!

We were extremely impressed by the doorman/concierge; he was most polite and helpful. There was a minor irritation in that there was only one towel in the shower room and we had to request more from the front desk, which were delivered promptly. The TV didn't work: it turned on but stations couldn't be had; an error message appeared on the screen. I requested this be fixed to the front desk, but nothing was done by the time we left. Finding the hotel coming in from the A9 was difficult, especially at rush hour; the map on the web site was too small and restricted to too small an area, so one couldn't interpret it using larger scale maps so we wasted over an hour finding the hotel even with the help of the signs on the streets along the way in which we did see. However, I would return for another visit if the opportunity arises. Thank You

we were not aware of the 'hidden extras' which apply to the standard category of rooms. Also, hotel guests were segregated in that it required a room card to gain access to the top 3 floors (the higher quality rooms). In a 4* hotel, we did not expect to be treated in this way. We have never come across this kind of thing before, and hope not to again.

Problems arose upon arrival when the hotel did not have my "confirmed" reservation, so I ended up in the Holiday Inn for 2 nights, paying 5 euros a night more than the rate I had booked for the Sofitel. Transferred back to the Sofitel to be kept awake for the night with a problem with the air conditioning which meant that there was a very loud sound of running water which could be heard from the end of the corridor but which emanated from a service cupboard next door to my room. Moved rooms again the next day, whereupon further confusion ensued regarding the rate booked and the rate charged. Rate booked was 145 euros per night b&b for 2 people, however, when my partner checked in and we had breakfast we were charged an extra 20 euros for breakfast for 2......all in all not a good experience and this would make me wary of booking with venere.com again. Made amends with the hotel (ish) at the end of my stay but overall, completley un impressed by the whole experience.
