It was a rather good hotel. My friend and I are satisfied with it. To be honest the service staff does always speak English, but we do not speak French as we are from a Nordic country and only speak English. However, it was sometimes cold in different rooms in October where our friends lived. Besides, we could not go to WC after walking on the day of our departure, bcs it did not work as the receptionist-girl said to us.

I spent in this hotel more than 1 week (in October) and it wasn't so bad. However, it was very cold in the room some days, and often room was not very clean. But the price is OK, if you take into account very good location of hotel (very close to railway station, tram station and historical center of the city). This hotel is perfect if you travel without children and intend to spend your daytime outside, seeing the sights of the city and spend overnight only in hotel.
Sweden, Aug 2009
It's a great hotel in the center of the city, 5 minuts of walking to Place de la Comedie. You get what you pay for. It's not a luxery hotel, you get what you need and that's it. Extra costs for air condition (not that expensive). I was travelling with a friend of mine, but before we both lived in this city so we know it and we really enjoyed our vacation. The reception close at 2 a.m.-7 a.m. but if you want to stay out longer, the hotel's providing you with your own key to the front door.

I have a family of five and only needed to stay in Montpellier for one night. This was a very short distance from the train station (with luggage since there was no storage in the Montpellier train station!!). We had a "quad" and were able to put a couple of beds together for our three kids and they stayed quite comfortably. We did need air conditioning for an extra 3 Euros, but well worth the cost!! The rooms were very basic, but GREAT if you are on a budget. I thought the cleanliness of the rooms was very good.

Excellent value for money, and only five mins walk from the city's main square. Street was quite noisy with passing cars and people between 12 and 2 in the morning, but otherwise nothing to criticise.

Extrememly noisy hotel. Noise from the train station, cars outside, people outside, people down stairs, and noise from other rooms. Only good thing about this hotel, the receptionist was very polite.

This hotel doesn't offers you a lot, but it's cheap. The rooms weren't perfectly clean, but if you doesn't eek out when you see a toenail on the bed, it'll be ok. The breakfast was served by the receptionist, he was always very helpful. Like others, our drains seemed to be clogged and the water drained off very slowly. But it won't overflow if you only take a short shower.

It was a bit confusing at first to find the place as the Place de Commedie is a big square with soo many small lanes in every corner. But once you find the hotel, its a straight simple way. Hotels charge extra 2 euro as tax which is not mentioned on the website and they also charge few extra euro to use the air condition! I thought that was included when you book the room. Never the less, we were lucky to have our room on 1st floor. Those having room upstairs on this 3 storey building will have problem to carry their luggage as they have no lifts but we were bag packers with less luggage,So we had no problems.

The Hotel is not expensive so you shouldn't expect too much. But for the price it's perfect. Especially the location ist great - just some minutes away from the center! P.S. book the garage if you come by car!

As the receptionist was friendly but not so good at speaking in English, we had to do many efforts to communicate. Prepared amenity goods were not enough for two of us, we had to ask for it to the receptionist too.

I enjoyed my staying in hotel Polygon very much. Calm and near to city center. Good Wifi. Little rooms but enough for one person. I would choose the same hotel to stay again in Montpellier. :)

This hotel is very near the station and just the other side of an underpass. Traffic, both cars and trains, roared past at all hours, plus there was a lot of shouting in the street during the night. The bathroom was dirty, to the extent that I didn't like to get washed in it. The shower flooded onto the floor. The breakfast was not worth 7 euros, being of poor quality, and both the tea and coffee were undrinkable. I would never go there again, and would not recommend it to anyone.

This was a great small local hotel very close to centre of city in easy walking distance of main areas. Great local character and no pretensions. The price matches the product. The staff were very helpful, including allowing me to store & work on my bike in the courtyard. I would stay again for my next visit to Montpellier. But don't expect luxury, and the breakfast is very basic with poor coffee.

Hotel Polygone is conveniently located and we were attracted by the very reasonable price. However the room was tiny, which in itself is no problem, however the paper thin walls meant we could hear every time the people next to us rolled over in bed as well as an overly amorous couple two floors above. Along with the small flies buzzing around the bathroom, the plumbing in our shower had some serious issues and we had to turn the water off every 15 seconds or else it would overflow onto the floor. The room had a nice balcony but overall we just never felt comfortable and ended up leaving after one night. Even for the price the hotel is a little disappointing.

We selected a twin room; had booked for 6 nights; left after the first night. Hotel clean but far smaller and farther away than anticipated. Were willing to pay for breakfast - was instant, microwaved coffee (in France?) and one petit pain + croissant each... One problem was that the city was far hiller than expected, and the distance as the crow flies bears no relationship to the distance and difficulty of walking... and having just had foot surgery, we opted for a hotel nearer the Place de la Comedie.

Despite some mixed reviews on Venere.com, our stay in the hotel was very pleasant. We were two females traveling alone for vacation. The room was clean and comfortable. The only problem we encountered were ants in our bathroom. We notified the front desk and I don't think any immediate measures were taken. Otherwise, we had a very good stay and I would go back to this hotel. It's location is great and we felt safe in the area.

Near the center, there are 2 rooms in the ground floor, in front of the reception desk, that you must skip if possible: you will hear every single person entering/exiting the hotel and, of course, all the conversations about check-in, check-out.

My stay was short in the hotel. I was just stopping over for the night due to the trains. As it was dark when I got in, I didn't manage to find the hotel as easily as I thought it would and the check-in was closing in half an hours time. However, the staff came out to get me after I failed to find the place after check-in hours. That was a really nice gesture especially for a female travelling alone. Much much appreciated!!! In actualty, the hotel IS literally 5 minutes away from the train station, in the dark, everything just gets harder to find. The room is clean and the bed is comfy. I would definitely recommend this place if you're on a budget and need a place close to the station.

To be blunt, I've spent less and got better in the past. The room was clean, however the smell of some sort of air freshener or detergant was unbearible. The room was tiny and the bed was horrible. The matress was very soft and had a plastic mattress protector on it (the type used on toddlers beds). We only stayed one of the two nights we booked and opted to stay in a chain hotel (more expensive) which we had stayed in before, and knew what to expect.

This was so umpleasent that we tried to be moved to another room but the manager of the "hotel" told us it should be imposible. So we inmediatly went out of such a please, of course losing the money we paid. Even when we asked for writting a public demand the manager refuse it. I think you pay extra for TV as it wont turn on and remote. breakfast is not included. It is close to the train station but there is a lot of construction to confuse on arrival. We had to sleep with the windows and room door open to try to cool the room down and I think it is the noisiest part of the city all hours!!!

It`s more a youth-hotel, but for only sleeping and having a room it`s sufficient. The only thing, there is no doushe-curtain, and because everything is very small, elder people could have some problems. The location is not in the best quartier, but it`s located near to the tram, near to the ancient city and also near to the modern city. So all in all it was OK and for the 3 days a good price/quality relationship. The breakfast is for 5 € enough, but not like we have breakfast in Germany with cheese and egg and sausage.
