Very frienly and competent staff - only menu of the day, wich was excellent and abundant - there was a very relaxed and cosy ambiance in this hotel - good for young and elder people - we liked it very much.

Wow, this place is fantastic! The host, Marzio is the most gracious person, happy to help arrange local services (like our cooking class with a local restauranteur / chef), even if they are unrelated to his B&B. Marzio been in the business for 42 years (since he was a child), and his family has been doing this for over 3 generations. He has an expansive farm where he grows his own produce, makes his own olive oil and his own wine, which he is honored to serve in the hotel restaurant. The breakfasts were full featured (as far as Italian B&Bs go) and the dinners at the hotel were beyond description - the best dinners we ate in Italy, despite the fact that we traveled all over Tuscany and to Venice and Milan. The location was a little difficult to find, but stopping at a local police station, we were set straight. With our rental car, we took day trips to Sienna, Montalcino, Pienza and Lago di Castiglioni (in Umbria) and a lot of other local hill towns. I heartily recommend Villa Ambra.

1. Excellent breakfast 2. The hotel owner is exceptionally honest and friendly: upon arrival, I asked him about a nearby restaurant. He commended it and booked a table for us. Only later did I learn that the owner has his own restaurant, adjacant to the hotel, and did not even try to change my choice. 3. Ask for a room away from the road.

Our hosts were very generous and served a very sumptuous, delicious dinner, all prepared by the brother/sister team that owned the place. We had many courses of delicious, local specialties, including her home baked cake for dessert. The breakfast was also very nice. We enjoyed meeting them, and they were both extremely helpful.

It was definetely a ways from montepulciano (which was one of our very favorite tuscan towns), but we had a car. there is not much around the hotel, which is in s. albino, but there is a terrific pizza place inbetween montepulciano and villa ambra. the owner and the people who worked there were very friendly and helpful(which cannot be said for alot of the italians- think they get resentful of all the tourists). the room could have used a little updating but the size was great and all and all was a pleasant stay and a great location to visit other tuscan towns (don't miss pienza)! ciao...

We had a great time, the staff were very helpful and the food was lovely, if a bit rushed. The house wine was excellent and breakfast was also plentiful. Did not use the pool but it looked well kept and there was loads of space around it. You really do need a car with a designated driver if you are going out for food and drink. The area is beautiful and so much to see. Centrally located to explore and plenty to do. The Terme in Chianciamo is well worth a visit if you have 3 hours to pamper yourselves. Great place

Very friendly and accomodating owners. Our room was in the front of the hotel on the second floor over which people sat on the veranda and chatted till after 11 pm distrubing our sleep. Bathroom shower was very small. Breakfast was very good. Hotel was approx 7 kilometers from the center of Montepulciano. Hotel was a good value for the price.

Stayed there for 3 nights.Did not get a room with air-condition and had to open the balcony door at night because of the heat.A lot of noise from the nearby road. Much traffic! Excellent staff.Nice restaurant.Lovely food. Would like to stay there again.Best to have a car if you stay there.

The rooms were very spacious and clean. The hotel staff was extra friendly and accommodating. He even showed us the table he had reserved and set up for us for breakfast, which was excellent. The price was very reasonable and the surroundings beautiful. We ate dinners at a family-run pizzaria about 1 km north of the hotel which was fantastic. It's location is a little farther south from Montepulciano than we thought (about 5 km), however, we had a car so it didn't really matter.

Excellent rapport QP.

Lovely quiet location. The area is renowned for its wonderful wines which we found to be true. We explored the hills and towns in the area including Montepulciano, Trequando, and Cortona and found the scenery and area just beautiful. The food in hotel restaurant was disappointing, too heavy for a hot summer’s night but the service was good and the staff very nice and friendly. You would need a car if you stay here. There is plenty of parking at the hotel which is also a plus point.

Great hotel, even though it was hard to find but our GPS was very helpful. The hotel is privately owned and run and it shows. The breakfast was delicious, the grounds are pretty and they have a pool on premises which we did not get to use since it was still cold out. We really enjoyed our stay here and we would come back again.

Previous users comments were confirmed by our experience. The welcome, service, facilities and food were all excellent. We were not aware that an evening meal was available every night without booking if you wanted it and we had these 3 out of our 4 nights. These were 6 course, fresh, rustic Tuscan meals which were very enjoyable generally and the wine recommendations were great! However, the only downside was that we would like to have had the opportunity to step outside the hotel and stroll around a town/village after our meal but the location was not suitable for this withoput taking the car for a short journey. The location midway between Montipulciano and Chianciano was great for touring the area. We had the room with a veranda above the hotel entrance, which afforded a beautiful view through the trees of a sunny Montipulciano every morning.

L'ambiance familiale de l'endroit est sympathique. Le repas du soir à saveur cuisine italienne a été apprécié! Cependant on doit prendre sa voiture pour se rendre à Montepuciano!

This hotel is a find! The write-ups just don’t do this hotel justice. The rooms are large, as is the bathroom, and very clean and comfortable, just a few minutes drive outside of Montepulciano. Marzio was a wonderful host. He showed us to the lift and then ran up two flights of stairs with our luggage to meet us and show us to our room. Upon our leaving, he suggested a better route for our next destination, which saved us quite a bit of time. Marzio’s sister will cook a four course Tuscan meal for their guests – what a feast! Marzio suggested a wonderful bottle of wine with dinner. You’ll find some of the evening’s pastries offered for breakfast. This is a definite “must return to” hotel.

This is the best hotel we have stayed during our 35 day trip in Italy. We loved the owner family, the view of Montepulciano, the green around the hotel, and above all the excellent meals they provided.

Our stay in Villa Ambra was really excellent. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the food was very good. All the employees were kind and nice. Moreover, the hotel is not far from a lot of wonderful tourist places.

Impressions from web site meant disappointment when arriving at Villa Ambra - although the owners couldn't have tried any harder to make my stay any better. Location good for visiting Montepulciano and wine regions and the dinner at noght could not be faulted for the price but this place did not match my expectations of a Villa surrounded by gardens when it is so near the road. I asked for a room with a view and looked over the side entrance .

This was a beautiful hotel which made our visit to Rome all the more wonderful. The pictures accurately depict the lovely rooms and roof terrace where we spent our nights watching the sun set. The staff were most helpful. The only slight disadvantage is that it was not centrally located to many sights and it was a good 20 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, the closest tourist sight. However we took cabs everywhere and the restaurants near our hotel were excellent. We would stay here again should we visit Rome in the future.

Very pleasant stay in a very Italian Hotel. Food both in quality and quantity was very good and was not the usual tourist norm but rather traditional Italian quisine as would be eaten by most Italians away from the tourist areas.

We were favourably impressed. The hotel is easily accessible by car, has ample parking, and serves as a good base for touring Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza and Chianciano Terme. Our room had a small balcony and the grounds have nice outdoor seating areas. There did not appear to be air cionditioning which could be an issue in the summer months. The hotel is set back from the road suficiently to reduce noise as a direct problem.
