Roberto and Victoria are the most amazing hosts. We had visted in 2007 and came back for more. The Hotel (once you find it) is in the most spactacular location. It is wonderful to stay within the walls, at the top of the hill (and there is free parking!!!). But the reason to stay is Roberto. He is charming, helpful and full of life. He speaks very little english but he makes himself undersood. A wonderful host in a wonderful hotel.

Excellent property, wonderful hosts, beautiful town. Only challenge is driving to the hotel. There was free parking right out front once we found it. If you aren't skilled at navigating Tuscan hilltop towns, you'll want to be sure you have detailed directions before entering the town!

This beautiful hotel, set in a ancient building, is well appointed and close to everything in town, yet it is quiet and feels very private. We had a hard time finding the place, as "streets" often become stairways in Montepulciano, and it seems as though we had to drive the wrong way on one way streets a few times to get there. It was a little unnerving for us in our little car to negociate the narrow streets, so be advised. Check your map and approach Montepulciano from the "back way." Once we got there we had a great time.

Rather overwhelming interior decoration, but certainly interesting. Very friendly and helpful owner. Large breakfast, but a bit sweet for my tastes. Lovely town.

The house has lovely views; it is very difficult to get to it by car. The furnishings of the house are twee and fragrant chemicals are sprayed into the air in the corridor by an automatic dispenser. The breakfast is unhealthy and cheap; it is a struggle to get a second cup of coffee. The landlady, Vittoria (who speaks no foreign language) busily buzzes around the guests in the small breakfast area not so much to ensure perfect service but rather to ensure that her costs are kept down on food and drinks. There are huge bottles of sugared fruit drinks on each table which nobody touches. One can do much better elsewhere for the price. Her husband seems to be ill, which is sad. She does everything alone.

Roberto, the host, is the best! Full of good humor, warmth and great advice. His restaurant recommendations were excellent and fit our budget. Loved the two terraces for breakfast or a glass of wine in the afternoon. This clean, neat B&B in the heart of charming Montepulciano was excellent value for the money.

Unusual property with great charm in heart of the old town. Hard to find in a car but there was parking which was a boon. Traditional decor of great beauty but care would be needed with children. Family run, very welcoming and helpful. Nice sunny terraces and good food close. Wished we could stay longer.

As you will gather from the scores, you cannot rate the Terazzo di Montepulciano highly enough - once you have found it! We parked at the bottom of the town and walked up the very steep main street of Montepulciano until we saw signs for La Terrazza and climbed the stairs to the front door. Roberto could not have been more welcoming and drove down to the car park to direct us back up - not recommended for those with a nervous disposition! The rooms are amazing, the terraces cool and relaxing, you help yourself to drinks with an 'honesty' pad. Roberto shows you everything with much enthusiasm and serves breakfast on the terrace in the morning in the same manner. Freshly home-made cakes and delicious coffee make a Roberto style start to the day. Montepulciano is amazing, with lovely shops and an old-fashioned tea/coffee house (though strangely full of American students on lap-tops in the evening). We had a great and reasonably priced meal near the fortress and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was just the right place after leaving Rome by train and picking up a car at Chiusi. Grazie Roberto!

A wonderful location in the heart of Montepulciano. Very hard to find. But wonderful Roberto, the owner, was kind enough to return with us to our car so that we could follow him to the hotel. Roberto is worth the price of the room itself. He is the most gregarious host you can imagine and he loves people. He has his own wine vintage, a family gelateria and lots of suggestions for dining and sightseeing. We met many nice people during our stay which made the visit more pleasant. Our room was quite large (2 rooms), but the shower was quite small. Continental breakfast was adequate, nothing special.

Finding the place, despite the signs, was a challenge, but once we arrived, Roberto was waiting to greet us, charm us, and give us a tour and a glass of limoncello! We had a hilarious conversation between my butchered Italian and his spurts of English. We loved Montepulciano and Roberto and Victoria and their beautiful space. Since the town virtually shuts down around 10 pm, we obtained some wine from the "honor bar" downstairs, and sipped it out on the terrace in the late evening surrounded by medieval buildings and blooming geraniums.

Roberto and his wife Victoria were the most amazing and friendly people that we met in our entire stay in Italy. The room (suite) that we stayed in was beautiful and cute and very authentic. This was our favorite hotel and staying in the middle of Montepulciano was a very great experience. We found that the town shut down too early and not enough night life but what an amazing place to see!

The owner, Roberto, treated us like family. He rode with my husband at 10pm on a Friday night to return to pick up our college daughter from the train station 30 min away, as she was arrived later than us. He truly made the stay memorable. The property was authentic and beautiful - with an outdoor garden and rooftop seating area. The town is quaint, a perfect Tuscany town. It is difficult to drive in Montepulciano because of the very narrow streets, so I would either park in the parking area and walk and find the hotel first, or else get very specific instructions on driving in to the hotel first.

I could not fault this hotel. The owners, particular Roberto is more than wonderful and welcoming. As my partner said he is like your long lost uncle and you are treated as part of his family as soon as you arrive. The hotel is 2 star rating but I don’t know why, there is nothing two star about this place. The rooms are amazing, decorated very nicely and extremely large! We travelled with friends and both rooms and a bedroom and sitting area. The hotel is located within the old town and easy to walk anywhere you wish to go, vineyards, restaurants and of course the wine shops. I could not recommend this hotel highly enough! I hope to return soon!

We absolutely loved Victoria and Roberto. They were so friendly and chatty, even though we speak NO Italian without the cheat sheet! We had a couple interesting translation issues, which were hilarious! The room we had was like an attic dormer type of room, actually it was two rooms; a separate sitting room, and a bedroom, plus a full bath. We only stayed one night, and we definitely could have stayed longer here. Victoria recommended a restaurant just down the street and it was delicious. We also had a couple of drinks out on the terrace from the self-serve kitchen (just write what you take on the notebook and they charge you at the end- very reasonable price for the convenience) before going out. Breakfast was nice and Roberto insisted on catering to our every need. Getting there was creative. I think at one point we were driving the wrong way up a very narrow, very steep street, and eventually, I just got out and walked to look for it while my husband sat at a carpark just outside the center of town. Once we got there and parked, there was no problem.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at La Terrazza de Montepulciano…we wished we could have stayed longer. The proprietor Roberto is so friendly, welcoming and fun. He really goes out of his way to make his guests feel comfortable and helps ensure they have a great stay. He chatted with us and gave us tips on places to eat and to buy things. Our room was cozy and spacious…it was actually more like a suite and it had a terrace. Also, the hotel is in a great central location and it is really charming. Roberto serves a nice breakfast. We stayed at other places in Italy, all of which had higher star ratings, but La Terrazza was our favorite. If you are looking for a welcoming, cozy place with a friendly helpful staff in a beautiful location, then La Terrazza is the place.

To say that our stay with at La Terrazza di Montepulciano was one of the major highlights of our trip to italy would be a serous understatement. Staying with Roberto and Victoria was like visiting your favorite relatives. From the moment you step through their door you are family. They are so kind and welcoming, you immediately know they would do anything for you. Roberto (or should I say George Clooney) has a great sense of humor, no matter what language you speak, and a generous soul (just ask him about his volunteer work at the local hospital). I truly wish all hoteliers would emulate and all hotel customers could experience Roberto's passion for hospitality. If you go to Italy you must experience the sights, food, wine and people of Montepulciano and only place to stay is at Hotel La Terrazza di Montepulciano

The best part of the hotel is the proprietor Roberto who is very welcoming to his guests. The location is excellent and you can drive to the hotel by following the signs though the route is torturous. There is parking right outside the hotel. We had a very spacious, clean room. Breakfast was nice and Roberto was a very gracious host who made sure you enjoyed it. The location was excellent for exploring Montepulciano and its surroundings.

This lovely hotel is ideally located in the heart of Montepulciano. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were quite large, clean, and well-appointed. The bathroom was European-small but immaculate- the water pressure was excellent. My family and I had use of the garden terrace in the evening for a bottle of wine and some snacks... We were encouraged to use the refrigerator in the dining area as we needed. The availability of free parking next to the hotel was a HUGE benefit. I would stay at this hotel again and would heartily commend it to others.

Is the best hotel in our trip to Italy, for 90 euros /night we had a very, very nice room, well decorated, spacious, and very clean. Their web site doesn’t really transmit the beauty of the hotel. Roberto, the owner is a fabulous person, very passionate about what he does he show us the entire hotel, and was always helpful. The room for breakfast is open 24 hours for guests who wanted to take a bottle of wine (he produces wine), a coffee, a bottle of water or whatever you might find in their fridge, you just put in a post-it your name, room number, and the item you took. Roberto also recommends us a very nice and good restaurant called ‘il godimento divino’. We came by car, and the directions to the hotel were mentioned everywhere in the little town, so you can’t miss it, and the hotel have a little parking. We really enjoyed our one night stay in Montepulciano, and though that it was a shame that we only booked for one night. It definitely exceeds our expectations. We travel around Italy for 2 weeks, and never saw a hotel like this, and at that price.

Roberto is a pleasure, went way out of his way for us, driving us back down to our car (we parked outside the walls and walked to find the hotel first), and letting us follow him back to the hotel. Engaging personality that makes you feel more than welcome. Very helpful. The only reason we wouldn't return to this hotel is the bathroom. Sit down tub/shower was very cumbersome and small, outdated. Overall, I can make the recommend but just remember you won't have a stand up shower stall.

We highly recommend La Terrazza. Roberto and his wife are outstanding hosts and the location is fantastic. My only downside would be that the beds are extra firm. Other than that the rooms are quite large, clean and comfortable. Montepulciano was one of my favorite stops during our two weeks in Italy. Its quaint streets are free of the tourist hordes that hit the bigger tourist areas. The shopping is fantastic and you won't see any of the cheap non authentic stuff that is pushed in other tourist areas. My recommendation would be to stay here as your base for your day trips through Tuscany.

The hotel is in the centre of town and has lots of character. We got there at 10:30pm due to missing our train and were a little upset with our situation and began second guessing our stop in Montipulciano. From our experience we knew most places weren't very accomodating to late arrivals. However upon our arrival to the hotel, we were greeted by the owner with smiles and humor. He treated us as if we were family and had known him for years. He ran the hotel as if it were his home. Though we only had one night there and less then 24hrs in the area it was probably one of the best stops during our trip because of the owners hospitality, the beauty of the hotel, room, and surroundings. Though the owner spoke little english we had few problems communicating and understanding each other. He was more than accommodating for anything we needed. We highly recommend this hotel and a trip to Montepulciano!!

We wished we had more time to stay with Roberto and Vittoria. Everything said about this little hotel is true, they welcomed us like long lost children and made us so at home that we didn't want to leave. Roberto is the consummate host with a quirky mix of Italian and English which you somehow understand. The hotel is ideally situated in this beautiful walled city. When you have accommodation booked in the town you can drive right in through the gate and wind your way through the tiny streets (which was interesting in our fairly large car) and park right outside the hotel, very convenient. This was one of our favourite places, watching the football in the town square with all the locals was a night to rememeber. We left with hugs and kisses all round and a promise to return, and we will.

Unfortunately we could only stay for one night and had to leave before breakfast. Roberto was brilliant and organised our taxi for 0600! This hotel is located within the walls of Montepulciano, so folks just need to be aware of the adventure of driving your car to this hotel, but it is worth it. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable. Roberto was a wonderful host. He was genuinely interested in all his guests, and cared for them as if they were his family. This place is as good as everyone says. Parking out the front, a very charming Roberto, his wife and (young adult) children as hosts. The central location, the cleanliness of rooms...everything was fantastic! Our room opened out onto a street below so although a little noisy- it was all the charm and banter that we had come to experience. We came stayed over 2 very hot days and although no air con in rooms, the stone building kept the rooms cool.

We had a great stay. We had the perfect accommodation for a family with young children - with two bedrooms and a bathroom. Our children loved Roberto - the owner, who is just an awesome person. Breakfast is more of a stage event, with Roberto entertaining the guests, and in particular entertaining the children. Both he and his wife are incredibly warm and welcoming.
