Hotel Eva La Romantica, even if 150 metres from the sea, thanks to its fortunate position is one of the quietest and silent areas situated within olive and lemon trees.

It can be reached only through a private closed off road. Whatever room will be reserved for you, the only noise you can hear is the singing of the cicadas.

When I lost my cameras on arrival in Moneglia it threatened to ruin our holiday. The staff at Eva Romantica were sympathetic and helpful, driving us over the route we took from the station and making enquiries for us. It says much for this hotel that our experience over the next four days went a long way towards compensating for that initial experience. It’s a family-run place tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac. Our room was small, the bathroom cramped, but everything was clean and French windows giving onto a balcony gave us enough breathing room. Fittings were in good working order, including the only functional sink plug we’ve found over three visits to Italy and fourteen hotels. There’s a fair bit of noise transmission from room to room, most of it plumbing sounds, but few noises outside apart from the welcome ones of church bells and birds. Breakfast is of high quality and with enough variety to keep you interested over a longer stay. More surprising is the quality of lunch and dinner. Over the years we’ve found as many disappointments as successes in restaurants throughout Italy. The Eva Romantica’s restaurant was one of the better ones we’ve found anywhere, superb value for money with a concise but well-chosen wine list at very reasonable prices. We ended up eating there every night. Gino can sometimes be persuaded to provide after-hours entertainment as well as top-class service. Moneglia is a beautiful little town, convenient to Cinque Terre and far less crowded. The beach is a delight, sandy with excellent swimming and lots of local people. We’d love to return to the town and to Eva Romantica. As for my camera equipment, we’re convinced I left it in the reception area while being shown to our room, and some outgoing guests (we arrived shortly after mid-day) helped themselves. How such people live with themselves, I don’t know.

Reserved two rooms for two nights. One room had very bad case of mold, and after one night we had to move to a different room without a bath. Staff helpful, room small, location remote, parking remote but ok, food good,

Loved this hotel. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast and they offer an evening meal which is very authentic Italian, very tastefully presented and tasteful too. Prices not bad for Italy. Hard to find without GPS but situated in a charming little village with few tourists and no large groups.

This was a real jewel in our stay in Italy in late April early May. The couple who own and manage the hotel have only had it about a year, and they certainly know how to make their guests comfortable. We tried to walk from the train station, but after a long trip, we finally decided to call and were picked up by one of the owners, and later when we left we also were graciously driven to the station. We were treated wonderfully by all staff while we were there. Our room was not large, but spotless, and although on the third floor, it was not that difficult to get our suistcases up there. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the 13th Centure Church of Santa Croce which was lit at night and was quite beautiful and in addition chimed the half hour and the hour from about 7 a.m. to midnight. We could hear the trains in the background in the night, but it was rythmic and conducive to restful sleep. We were able to walk to the village or the beach in about ten minutes down through a private passage way that split several properties, and was accessed through the proverbial little steel gate. The breakfasts were lovely, and we ate two of our evening meals there during our four-night stay.....at very reasonable prices for four course meals with wine. The village of Moneglia is ideal for a restful vacation........a lovely beach, neat little shops, hiking possibilites of varying difficulties etc. . We are over 60 years of age, and had a lovely hike to Point Moneglia which overlooks the town, mountains, and coast in a leisurely walk up the mountainside..........complete with two picnic tables to enjoy a lunch and aglass of wine for your efforts !! Moneglia is also not far from Cinque Terre ( train ride - round trip for two 9.60 Euro) which we visited by train and then came back by boat and train. If you want to avoid the touristy area of Ciqnue Terre, but still sample its charm and hiking........at a reasonable price, and with very gracious hosts.......this is the plac

We loved this unexpected find. Away from, yet near, the crowded Cinque Terre. Wonderful hospitality from the owner; charming environment. Would definitely return.

Everything was perfect except missing the internet connection in the room or at least in the hotel. As described the room was quite small and the parking 100 m away up-hill. Not very convenient but anyway available and free. Overall we enjoyed our stay and Moneglia is beautiful

Room was pleasant and quiet enough but bathroom was much too small with hardly enough space to turn around. Parking was a plus though there was a big hill to climb to get to the lot.

We had a very pleasant 1 night stay at Eva La Romantica in Moneglia in April 2009. The Manager gave us a pleasant welcome, although it was quite late in the evening and he helped us upstairs with our luggage and showed us where to park the car in a locked car park a short walk away, reserved for the Hotel patrons. The Ristorante Vela, a short walk away in the village was pleasant and very welcoming, even though it was late. Our room was spacious and clean and opened onto a balcony. Our only comment would be that the well-appointed en suite bathroom was a little narrow, especially when sitting on the toilet! The breakfast was generous and very good. The Cinque Terra coast is spectacular and we would highly recommend a visit.

Moneglia is a beautiful resort area. Rooms were as stated on the site, quite small, but for the price...very reasonable. The manager is very strange, at best. Not too friendly or helpful with area points of interest. Make sure to eat at LaVela...the best food on my 10 day trip to Italy.

We stayed at this charming, friendly family run hotel during the last two weeks of the season (mid September). Even though they were quite busy the owners always had time help us with any questions we had, and gave us some good local advice as well drawing maps and lending us guide books etc. Because of the frequent trains (station on the opposite edge of town but a short walk) it was also a good base for exploring outside Cinque Terre, we particularly liked Luca and.Portovenere Our room had every thing we needed very clean and nicely decorated we had balcony looking towards olive groves with the sea in the distance. The sunny terrace opposite .was great for relaxing after a day walking, sight seeing or just for chilling . Even though are plenty of restaurants in the town some nights we dined in which was good value for 3 courses, breakfast was good too and set us up for the day. We both though we had got great value for money. I can’t recommend this hotel more, we had a great stay and were sorry leave the tranquil surroundings of Hotel Eva.

We had a great time at this hotel. It is family run and the owners are very sincere about caring for the guests. Rooms are simple and clean. Ask for one with a balcony which is a great place to sit with a glass of vino at the end of the day. There is also a sitting area on the top floor that we didn't find until the last day - it's nice too. The hotel is about 1km from the train station and walkable if you are travelling lightly or 5 euro for a cab ride (ask at the station information booth for a ride). The information booth at the train station is a good source of information on the area (advice, pamphlets, purchase train tickets). We used Moneglia and this hotel as a base for hiking in the area and were very happy. The train to the Cinque Terre villages costs just under 3 euro return, and runs frequently (about hourly) throughout the day from roughly 6am to midnight. The town of Moneglia has a large number of decent restaurants, shops, fruit/veg shops and a grocery store. In the summer you can even walk down to the beach for a swim - in September the water was still swimable. At the hotel, we enjoyed the light breakfast that was included, and we had one dinner (15 euro for 3 courses). The owners were very kind and provided cappuccinos free to us with breakfast. Overall the food was fine. On the last day we didn't order a cab and ended up in a rush - the owner drove us to the train station himself - supper nice!

Great location. Although not immediately on the Cinque Terre trail it's just a short train ride away. The rooms are clean and quiet. The balcony that I had with my room was perfect for lounging out and reading. Breakfast is included with the room and the staff was able to offer some dining recommendations in the city of Moneglia for later on that evening. I would definitely return.

Very nice place. Friendly stuff, free private parking. Cinque Terre national park about 20min on the train, railway station is about 10min on feet. IMHO the best value for money in this place. We`re the young couple but we understood that this resort town is for over 50`s.

This hotel is a cosy place with beautiful surroundings and a very nice owner. The room was cheap, although very small and the ventilation in the bathroom, very noisy! Breakfast could be more varied, but if you ask for something they'll try to get it for you. They have private parking (although tricky to get there..) and Internet access. I recommend this hotel to young couples.Apart from these small inconviniences, La Moneglia is a great place for everyone to spend their summer vacations. Make sure you go to a restaurant called Derna (I think..look for a man with white hair, moustache and glasses)he was very nice, we arrived late at night, they came up with a last minute 'penne al pesto' and an unforgetable 'bruschetta'. Very nice people in La moneglia!

Rosella was so helpful to us. Helping with our luggage, parking, train timetables, internet and did over and above to make our stay the best on our one month honeymoon in Italy. They offered an excellent 3 course meal for 15 Euro per person.
