When booking there, make sure you book in the Villa Imperiale as the main hotel rooms (in the newer building) have no charm and even the superior rooms have old ugly bathrooms. Lake View is only partial in the new building and depends on which floor you are. The pool area is nice and the staff there is very pleasant but the area is overcrowded in summer. The sandy beach area that seemed to be part of the hotel in the photos and the comments is actually an independent beach with a separate access for a fee. The Imperialino restaurant staff are absolutely unwelcoming. We were once refused access as we were too late and the second day we were proposed to go to the beach area to have a pizza! Not glamorous enough? Well go visit the Villa d'Este nearby for true hospitality and a real Lake Como experience.

The stuff of this hotel was very unpleasant. The prices (240 € a night) were much too expensive for the service provided and for the room offered (which is very simple in fact and has no charme). Every extra is charged : from the parking (18 € a day !) to the use of internet (9 € a day or 2,5 € for 30 minutes).

It's not often when you book a hotel having viewed the photos online and its exactly how they have listed it! This hotel was amazing and well worth the cost. The restuarant in the hotel is also of a very high standard although the service provided was a little disorganised.

The restaurant connected to the hotel was very overpriced. The bar began broadcasting music early in the afternoon and into the evening - not great if you wanted to leave your windows open and are not a big Dean Martin fan. The location is terrific though - far enough from Como to be quiet and near enough if you want to do things in the city.

It is a shame that we had an incident with the hotel staff when they accused us of burning and ripping a bedspread and wanted to charge us for it and had locked us out of our rooms. It was eventually resolved after some heated discussion and a search of the room and our bags but it did spoil the stay for us in what is a lovely area and very nice hotel. Because of this we would not return to this hotel but would return to the area.

Antics rooms are shown on all the pages of the website, but the majority of them are modern in a modern part behind the antic one (absolutely no charm), just above a parking (cost 15e a day, sup).

It looked better on the internet than it actually was in person. The room was much smaller than I thought it would be. Also, the internet picture shows a period furniture room, which was not what we got. The higher rooms don't have balconies, so we went for a lower room with a balcony, but obstructed view. The hotel services were very limited. We had trouble ordering room service. The pool area was very nice, and the grounds are beautiful. Overall, I thought the price did not match the quality of accommodation, and the hotel staff were of little help with area attractions.

The hotel is pleasant. Lake Como in the southern part is however quite disappointing. Swimming in the lake is difficult, too much traffic on the water.

We've stayed here before and found it very relaxing in a picturesque region. However, one night a band was playing on the front lawn until 1:30 am (at least the music was good). There was disorganisation and confusion in the front restaurant - at least when we dined. For the price it should be superb.

The Hotel Grand Imperiale was truly a beautif ul place. The room was great with Lake Como view and all staff were very helpful. The only complaint is that the hotel is isolated as the small town of Moltrasio has little to offer. There is only three restaurants including the Grand Hotel. As we did not have a rental car, taxie and boat were needed to go to Como or other towns.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel a lot! It was located in a very quiet area and perfect to spend relaxing break. Few things I regret are that I did not have internet connection as it was in the process of changing the system and the restaurant was operating at off-seasonal menu which limits the choice. However, I can fully understand that my stay was in off-peak season and this did not make me disappointing.

We arrived in mid afternoon and very hungry. After being told by reception that we could get a sandwich in the bar,a very indifferent bartender said that we could not get anything but a bowl of nuts. He didn't seem to care if we got anything to eat or not. There was a large German group staying at the hotel and they were very loud in the dining room at breakfast and on the terrace outside our room late at night. However,we don't view this as a fault of the hotel. Upon chekout, we were charged for the garage (we had no car) and an extra day of internet service, which were incorrect, but the staff was very apologetic and made the correction immediately. The room and the bed were very comfortable. The view of the lake was lovely. It was great having 24 hour internet available in the room without having to go to the lobby to utilize. We would definately recommend this property to others.

A very beautiful hotel. We had booked a triple room and was pleasantly surprised upon arrival - a villa w/ a balcony overlooking the lake. Gorgeous view! Highly recommend this hotel. We traveled Italy for 6 days, this was our last stop and favorite of all the hotels we stayed.

A very beautiful hotel very close to the Como Lake. We had a very beautiful lake view, which we recommend to anyone who can afford it. The must: having breakfast in the garden in front of the hotel, with international newspapers !

The picture of the hotel shows that its location is on the shore of the lake. However, the main building is not on the lake, hence there is no lake view, unless you upgrade to a seriously more expensive room. Furthermore, the inside decoration is like a business hotel of the '80s. This is surely NOT a hotel for a romantic escapade and it does not value its rate! Much more expensive than it is worth it! Grand Hotel Imperiale did not meet the standard it set itself.

The rooms weren't specially clean, our bedroom was over the bar and we heard the piano/music/loud voices until very late hours. The restaurant "IL giardino" was ok, good as kids were able to play on the grass beside the tables. However the waiters were a disaster and they were cursing in Italian to each other the whole time (also during breakfast). They just seemed to be overwhelmed at peak times. Will not stay in this hotel again

The Grand Hotel Imperiale was as advertised -- just north of the town of Como in Moltrasio, a gorgeous section of Lake Como. Hotel is mostly on the uphill street side of lake - only restaurant and pool are lakeside. That said, most rooms seem to have view of lake. Overall, this is a very nice hotel, definitely four stars, and I would stay again. There is an old original section of the hotel and a newer back wing - we stayed in the newer back wing in a "family room". This was really a suite with a sitting room, big modern bath, and separate sleeping area. Very nice, clean, modern European design. Breakfast was included in rate, and was a large spread of breakfast, including eggs, bacon, breads, juices, coffee etc. Overall hotel service was good, though staff did not all speak English. They showed you to your room personally, and were very helpful overall. We had a car, and parked in the garage for 15 Euro extra. Worth it since they ticket on the street. This was a good location to head north or south on the lake, but there is not much in the way of dining options, other than two hotel restaurants, in town. Adjacent bar looked nice though, and there was a ferry stop across the road for trips to Bellagio and Como. tennis courts were nice, pool was beautiful, but bring a swim cap- they are required and we didn't have one. Doesn't seem to be consistent requirement in Italy, as we were able to swim elsewhere without them, but we did have it required in Rome. Overall, highly recommended, good value, would stay again.
